Chapter 56: Catch Up. (4)

"Young master, I see you’ve awakened!" Sebastian commented with a kind smile. "As expected of you, your recovery was slow but sure."

Sebastian had recently emerged from the building in front of Lloyd and the girls.

The man seemed very happy about Lloyd’s recovery.

"Hello Sebastian, and yes, it seems I was indisposed for quite some time," the boy responded while taking a bite of a fish skewer.

The skewer was dry, and difficult to chew, but it was edible, and the taste wasn’t bad.

Moreover Lloyd was so hungry he didn’t really care about his food’s taste.

"That’s right, but don’t worry, you were just taking a well-deserved rest," the butler responded with a smile.

Lloyd wasn’t entirely in disagreement with those words.

While losing 27 days of his life was quite annoying, because he had lost time in which to train or get V.P, it was fair to call his stay of "rest" as well-deserved rest.

After all his body and mind were subjected to constant stress.

Losing your life wasn’t an event you could simply forget.

Moreover, he had used the primordial flames, an archetype, it was normal he had gotten tired.

Though the truth is Lloyd didn’t expect using the primordial flames would cause him so many aftereffects.

While it’s true they had terrifying power, he also didn’t use them too long.

Though perhaps it was simply a mix of various circumstances that led him to take so many days of rest.

"Well tell me, what has happened during these days? Has the assassin guild tried to attack again?" Lloyd asked curiously.

While they had killed the vast majority of members who had occupied the tribe, there were still assassins out there loose.

Perhaps they would try to take reprisals somehow.

At that question, the butler nodded.

"That’s correct, very good observation. As you say there have been some attacks from the assassin guild, though that was only the first few days," the butler commented. "And don’t worry, no one was injured, they weren’t too strong."

Lloyd nodded.

So there certainly had been some attacks.

Though what most worried the boy actually was that the assassin guild would find out they had recovered the village.

But certainly after 27 days it was inevitable the guild would find out about it.

Perhaps they had even found out he was alive.

"I see," the boy said while stroking his chin. "Any news from Lucia and Notos? Have they been successful in their mission?"

The butler opened his mouth, about to respond, however he was interrupted by Sköll. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"That’s right! I didn’t tell you! Lucia managed to free more members of our tribe! They arrived a week ago," Sköll exclaimed with a smile.

The girl seemed excited to tell that news.

"Is that so? That’s good," the boy affirmed calmly.

After all the more beast-men were freed, the more people would join his "army."

"Yes, I must thank you and your subordinates for helping us recover our people," Hati added while bowing forward as a gesture of gratitude.

That was good news, the more beast-men Lucia rescued, the more documents against Bernard they would have.

After all killing a noble wasn’t a light crime, even if they committed crimes they wouldn’t be dealt with imprudently.

Nobles didn’t want other nobles to be assassinated, that was obvious, and to avoid promoting the assassination of nobles it was very necessary to be strict with assassins in question.

If commoners learned they could kill a noble without consequences they would take revenge much more frequently, and that would put an end to the nobles’ paradise.

That’s why, attempting against a noble’s life was a very serious crime.

However, Lloyd had the fortune of also being a noble, one of higher rank than Bernard.

With enough evidence that the latter was related to the assassin guild Lloyd would be saved.

Or at least he hoped so.

"And where is Lucia now, did she stay or return to her mission?" Lloyd asked curiously.

If Lucia was there, he could review the documents and evidence against Bernard.

Without that evidence, going after that man would be imprudent, and could bring reprisals.

Sebastian shook his head.

"No, she’s not here, she left as soon as she learned you were indisposed," the butler affirmed.

Though at that statement Sköll looked nervously, she knew that was half the story.

She had seen how Lucia ran desperately to Lloyd’s room whispering words an innocent mind couldn’t understand, though with a face that more than worried, seemed malicious.

Fortunately Sebastian threw the woman out before she tried to do something improper.

"I see, I suppose she has a lot of work ahead of her," Lloyd deduced calmly. "Anything else I should know?"

The dark-haired young man with shining green eyes asked.

The butler shrugged at that question.

"Nothing very relevant really," the butler responded. "Now knowing this, do you plan to return to Conrad’s fort? Or will you stay a bit longer here?"

The butler asked curiously.

The boy brought his hand to his chin while reflecting.

If Lucia still hadn’t finished her part it wasn’t necessary to return to the fort immediately.

However, it was also true Lloyd had an important mission to do there.

But he also couldn’t tell the beast-men to go with him right now, since they would be busy rebuilding the village.

Moreover, if he returned with Sebastian, the village would be defenseless, and conversely if he went to the fort alone, he would be easy prey for the assassin guild.

"Mmm, well, I think it’s best we stay a bit longer in the village," Lloyd answered calmly. "We’ll leave in a few days, and there we’ll wait for Lucia’s return."

The boy finally said.

While it was true it was dangerous to leave the beast-men alone, the truth is the guild only wanted him and the two priestesses.

In fact, if they discovered the temple had been opened and the trial completed, he would become the only target.

Therefore, the smartest thing was to return to the castle and complete the mission the system had given him while he waited for Lucia to return.

"As you wish young master."
