Reincarnated With a SSS-Rank Hypnosis Skill in Another World-Chapter 27 - First Match
Chapter 27: Chapter 27 - First Match
Ever since she had arrived, everyone had stopped talking, including me.
I was no longer trying to poach information from the others. Still, I had managed to hear their names after all.
The cold beauty was Alena Marx, and that strange spear user was named Thomas Loppy.
Alek seemed to have strange reactions at the mention of those two family names, so I could only imagine how powerful their families were.
Even my family wasn’t bad; however, the difference in reaction between when I mentioned my last name and theirs was clearly noticeable. They were on another level, and there was no doubt about it.
As for that strange black-haired mage who could decimate us all in the blink of an eye...
I had nothing.
Even with the help of the system, I couldn’t tell her name, which was definitely strange because it had never happened before, even with Seraphina, who was much stronger than her. Still, I had to admit that it was a good thing the tournament would go on for a few days; maybe I could develop a strategy to beat that mystery woman.
The key to beating her would definitely reside in the Blood Dagger. But even then, I’d have to reach her. Beating Alena and Thomas would be challenges on their own, and they were the only contestants I had met yet.
I looked down toward the arena, and for the beginning of the tournament, there seemed to be over 16 arenas displayed all over to accelerate the tournament. After all, from what Elena had said, there were thousands upon thousands of participants.
’My family is probably watching this right now...’ I thought in the back of my mind as they were probably somewhere in that crowd or with the King, talking.
[Edward Vale’s POV]
This whole thing is going to be a disaster.
I know my son. He doesn’t care about any of this. For all I know, he will try his best not to get into the Royal Academy because he finds this whole thing a bother. He’s never tried in his life, always lazing around, and I don’t think anything has changed since he met with the King’s daughter.
He probably just tried to charm her over the past days without even thinking about the tournament; that’s how much of a pervert he is.
Alex would have been the best option. At least, with him, I would have known that nothing bad would have happened that could damage the family’s reputation.
I took a deep breath and hoped deep down that Jake would do well. Because if he failed, he would put all of us in so much fucking trouble.
"Father, do you really think Jake can win?" Lucien, my eldest son, asked on my right.
He looked calm. After all, he didn’t know just how important this tournament was to our family. Marrying the princess hadn’t been without a cost. I just hoped Jake wouldn’t ruin this whole thing.
"Maybe. He IS the most talented mage that our family has ever produced. It’s only a matter of will with him."
Lucien nodded while Alex, who was on my left, burst out laughing.
"HAHAHA! You know very well that he hasn’t changed since he left a week ago. He probably spent the week trying to get into the princess’s panties. He doesn’t care about anything else; he never has. I still don’t understand why I wasn’t the one being married off to the princess."
I looked at my son, and I knew the truth would hurt. But I had to tell him since the reason was pretty obvious.
"Your looks."
He gritted his teeth instantly and stayed quiet, knowing that it was the truth.
There was a reason why Jake was so successful with women, and it was his looks. No one could deny that.
[Alex Vale’s POV]
’That son of a bitch of a brother. Good looks, the most talented, married to the princess. He has everything given to him on a silver platter, and he’s too stupid to make good use of it. If I were the one born in his body, I would be the most powerful mage without question at this tournament. Winning would only be a pointless procedure...’
I gritted my teeth as I saw his stupid face appearing in my mind.
’I don’t know how you didn’t die from that poison. But... I’ll make sure that I get rid of you as soon as you enter the Royal Academy. No one will be there to protect you anymore.’
I rubbed my hands as I couldn’t wait to see my dear little brother again.
This time, his maid wouldn’t be there to protect him while he slept. He would die, and there was nothing anyone could do about it, even father.
It was finally time.
The tournament was about to begin, and I had already been called for my first match.
It was finally time to see if all that training had paid off. I could feel a lot of eyes on me, some more powerful than others. Still, since it was my first match, I decided to keep some things hidden. For example, the Blood Dagger.
It wasn’t a good idea to show all of your strength at the very beginning, especially when so many people were watching. I would just have to win using [Blink] and [Fireball], the two spells that I had perfected over this past week.
The only two spells that I could use.
I walked onto the stage and faced my opponent.
He wasn’t anyone important.
He looked subpar in everything: looks, strength, mana. There was no doubt that I would win. However, I had to win with manners to show everyone that I wasn’t here to play.
"May the matches BEGIN!" the announcer said.
Instantly, as he said that, I closed my eyes for a split second and formed a fireball in my right hand.
"Isn’t it the famous play—"
And before my opponent could even finish his sentence, I blinked right before him, using my fireball as a close-range weapon, ramming it right into his chest and burning it to a crisp.
Within seconds, he lost consciousness, and I had been declared the winner of my first fight.
’Well... this might be easier than I thought...’
