The person that Alex looked at, looked at Peter who was sitting behind him with a question engaged.

Peter thought that there was no problem with this, as in any case, all the contestants would have to face someone in the ring.

Therefore, despite the recruits being given a number, it was only used on certain occasions, especially at a moment like this.

Therefore, they did not have much consideration on someone’s capabilities or any other characteristics, when pairing those that were going to fight against each other.

The moment that it was said that recruit number 17 would face recruit number 1, a few gasps of shock erupted among the recruits.

Even Peter could not help but frown slightly when he heard this. But, in the end, he said nothing, deciding to watch how things would turn out.

Kate did not care that much about this. Even though she was initially surprised, she did not think much about it. In any case, there was a conflict between them, and it was bound to be resolved at some point.

Since they could resolve it right now, why not go ahead with it? So, she decisively stood up, before she descended towards the ring.

As for Evan, he also did not have much of a reaction. He just stood up, and followed Kate down to the ring.

Standing in the ring, Alex could not help but raise his brows slightly. He wondered, what kind of coincidence was this?

During the time that he had landed on the ring, three people attracted his attention, due to their lack of reaction, at least the reaction that he was anticipating.

And coincidentally, two of them were going to face each other? Now, he was curious, just how strong were these two?

With the two recruits standing on the ring, facing each other, Alex moved to the side.

Immediately after saying those words, Alex jumped from the ring, standing below it, while observing the fight.

He was the one that was going to be in charge of the combat assessment. So, in case someone broke the rules, he would be the one to take action in order to deal with that person.

And in a situation where someone faced a threat of death, Alex would intervene as well, to save that person.

For an ordinary person, standing where Alex was currently, it would be impossible for them to be able to react quickly enough to be able to save someone in the ring.

But for Alex, this was quite simple, as he was a mutant. So, he was quite relaxed, waiting to enjoy the show.

"Last time, you were quite lucky. If not for the intervention of instructor Peter, you would have understood the consequences of going against me.

Facing Evan’s attack, Kate tilted her head and let it pass, then launched a straight punch into his chest. Her reaction was fast, and so was her counter attack. The punch landed solidly and pushed him back a step, but he managed to steady himself.

Despite managing to steady himself, Evan was shocked. He had not expected that Kate was this skilled. Additionally, from that attack from her, he could tell that if he was careless, he would end up losing.

Determined not to lose and embarrass himself and his brother, he decided to go all out.

He struck again with more force, with a low kick, slamming into her leg. The impact of the collision was dull and heavy.

Kate’s stance shifted for a moment, and Evan saw it and quickly threw a hook toward her jaw.

Kate leaned back at the last moment, letting the attack pass just inches from her face. As it missed, her hand moved at once, her palm striking Evan’s shoulder and turning his body slightly, breaking the flow of his attack.

Evan did not step back this time. He forced himself forward and struck with his elbow into her side. The hit landed with weight, pushing Kate half a step across the ground, but she managed to endure the attack, despite being caught slightly off guard.

He gritted his teeth and pushed through it. His hand shot out and grabbed her wrist, trying to drag her off balance, but Kate twisted her arm and slipped free with ease.

She stepped to the side and sent a short kick into his ribs. Evan blocked with his forearm, but the force still pushed him back, his arm going numb for a moment from the impact.

They locked eyes, neither speaking, but the pressure between them grew heavier. Kate was quite surprised that Evan was quite skilled when it came to combat.

As for Evan, he suddenly realized that it was not going to be that simple for him to be able to deal with Kate. It seemed, even if he could deal with her, it require much more effort than he had anticipated.

But no matter what, not only for his pride, but for his brother’s reputation, he could not accept to be defeated by Kate. So, he did not wait for Kate to strike, as he charged forward.

He rushed towards Kate, faster and more desperate. His fists came one after another, each strike aimed to break through her guard.

Kate raised her arms and deflected most of them, but one punch slipped through and struck her shoulder. The hit made her arm shake, but her stance did not break. Instead, she stepped in.

Her fist slammed into his chest once, then again, each hit landing solidly and forcing him back. Before he could recover, her next strike rose and caught him under the chin, snapping his head back.

Evan staggered, his balance breaking for a moment, but he forced himself to stay upright. With a low shout, he threw a wide punch, putting all his strength into it.

Kate saw it coming. She shifted her body to the side, letting the punch pass, and at the same time, her leg swept low. Her foot struck his support leg, knocking it out from under him.

Evan lost his balance and dropped to one knee, his hand hitting the ground to stop himself from falling completely.

Before he could stand, Kate stepped in and drove her knee into his chest. The impact pushed him back onto the ground, the breath leaving him again as his body hit hard against the ring’s surface.

Evan tried to rise, but his body did not respond the way he wanted. His chest burned, his arm ached, and his breaths came out uneven.

Kate did not immediately attack, waiting for him to give in. But it seemed that this guy did not have the intention of surrendering? Since that was the case, she decided to attack once again.

But just as she was about to make her move, Evan noticed. His body shuddered, as he understood, in his current condition, he could not deal with Kate.
