The Kingmaker System-Chapter 461 - 460. Tell Or Not To Tell (5)
Chapter 461: 460. Tell Or Not To Tell (5)
The healed animals started converging towards me, sensing my calming mana and my Dragon’s blood. I brushed my hand gently over their heads hearing the soft purs and moans.
After a couple of minutes, I stepped out of the arena, finding Zach and Davian waiting for me. Davian seemed carefree as he watched the twilight sky while Zach was pacing around.
"Master!" Zach rushed to me as soon as he saw me and I smiled watching his pale, anxious face.
"They’re all fine now, I’ve collected the samples of their blood, vomit and tears. I’ll give it for further research so, we’ll find out what was wrong with them." I told him.
Zach nearly slumped with relief and I placed my hand over his shoulder.
"You did great, holding up like this."
Zach sighed, smiling with a relieved expression, "But I wasn’t able to do much. If not for you, all those animals would have..."
"That’s why I’m here, you can rely on me as much as you want." I said squeezing his shoulder gently and he chuckled shakily before he gingerly wrapped his arms around me.
I could feel Davian’s eyes on us as I patted his back like a parent would of their child.
"I was scared," he admitted.
"I know, but you didn’t let it show. You were brave." I said and his grip tightened ever so slightly.
During his childhood, Zach didn’t have anyone to say these words to him, he had been brought up fighting the world. So, I guess since I was here, I could let him enjoy a little bit of childhood.
"Thanks for being here, Master."
I smiled patting his back, "You made the decision of staying by my side, Zach."
"You still gave me the chance, you could have just discarded me just like Peter..."
"He was the gone case, Zach. You had the chance to redeem yourself, and you took it." I said and he chuckled, falling silent for a moment after that as he kept holding me and I patted his back.
"I wish I had a father like you, Master." He whispered before he pulled back and flashed me his usual playful grin.
We returned to Zach’s mansion, and he asked us to stay the night.
"We can’t, Zach. We have to leave for Denril tomorrow morning." I said and he pouted.
"But, you rarely ever visit my house, Master." He clung to my arm.
"I’m sure you just need a reason to open your new wine bottle to try to make me drunk." I said and he gasped.
"How do you- No, how could I ever do that?!"
I shook my head and looked at Davian who observed us.
"Why don’t you play with His Highness for a while? I’ll go and look around your territory to see if I find anything." I said and his eyes sparkled.
"You’re leaving me alone here?" Davian asked and I smiled.
"I know you’ll be bored but, Zach here is a good entertainer so, you could ease up a bit before our journey." I said and he didn’t look convinced.
"Master’s right, Your Highness you don’t need to worry at all, I’m great at entertaining my hosts. Come along, I’ll show you my most prized collections!" Zach excitedly skipped over to Davian.
"I’ll be back in a while, just don’t overdo it you two!" I warned them.
"Yes, Master!" Zach hollered as he ushered Davian away and I smiled.
I leapt out of the window after I saw them leave, and flapped my wings taking off in the darkening sky. I activated my mana eyes to check what the cause of the problem would be.
I flew over the land watching as the news was spreading that the animals were cured and the people who learned and propagated the news seemed relieved and happy. I smiled as I watched them before I flew over the river that flowed by the territory but it seemed all right. There were any impurities in the water, neither the air seemed contaminated. I wondered just what was the cause.
After an hour or so, I returned to Zach’s mansion hearing the loud sound of someone singing and someone cheering.
I landed through the balcony of the parlor from where I could hear the chaos.
Zach’s butler and the servants were having a hard time as they tried to control their intoxicated employer and if he wasn’t enough then the future Grand Duke who was also being a headache.
"Cheers for my friend’s first love!"
"Cheers for my Goddess!"
They shouted bringing up the goblets of their drinks and downed them in one go.
"Ma-Master Ocean!" The Butler and the servants rushed to me with pale faces.
"Please help!" He cried along with the other servants who were also having a hard time.
I sighed as I watched the two drunkards dancing around laughing and singing. I gestured for the troubled people to calm down as I walked over to the two.
"Master!" Zach rushed to me with a grin, I avoided being hugged by him and only put my arm forth watching as he flailed his arms to try and reach me.
"My Master! Why did you not come to me sooner? I could have had a nice and handsome father!" He giggled and I smiled. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"I wouldn’t let you be an unruly son then," I said and he tilted his head acting cute.
"I would have punished you whenever you acted like a spoiled brat." I said.
"Punish me?" He fluttered his eyelashes and I smiled sweetly.
"Yes, like this," I said before I punched him in his gut.
Zach gasped and then doubled over my arm.
"Here you go, take him to his room and give him some hangover soup in the morning." I said handing him to the waiting attendants.
"Master, why would you punch my new friend like that?" Davian demanded as he staggered to his feet approaching me.
I sighed, "Didn’t I tell you to not overdo it?"
He pouted, "But Zach said it’s all right as long as we don’t kill anyone."
"That also doesn’t mean that you will trouble the other people." I chided and he pouted.
"Master, you’re my fwiend, shouldn’t you also be congratulating me for my first love?" He acted cute as he clung to my arm and I smiled.
"Well, I’m an your friend that’s why I will knock some sense into you when you go down the wrong path." I said as I punched in his gut as well knocking him out.
He slumped over my side and I looked at the Butler who was looking at us.
"We’ll take our leave now," I said.
"W-Wouldn’t you at least stay for dinner, Master?" He asked and I smiled.
"It’s fine, I have my child waiting for me so, I’ll have to hurry back. The next time I visit I’ll surely stay over for a meal." I said and he nodded.
"We’ll be awaiting your visit, Master." He bowed.
I nodded at him before I activated the teleportation spell and we returned to Ryujin.
I dropped Davian in his room and tucked him in beefore I stepped out. I walked over to my room, finding Sol waiting in there for me.
He perked up as soon as I entered and I tilted my head as suddenly his eyes widened and he looked at me. He jumped down from the couch where he was sitting and rushed over to me.
"Wha-What do you have with you?" He stuttered as he looked at me up and down.
"What?" I asked and he gulped, furrowing his golden eyebrows.
His golden pupils found home over the pocket of my coat and he gingerly pointed at it.
"Wh-Why... Why do you have that?" He asked, his eyes cautious.
I patted my pocket and recalled putting the vials of the samples collected from the infected animals in there.
I pulled the vials out and his expression hardened even more. The little bit of his mana presence flared up as he glared at the vials.
"Where did you get those?" He asked.
"Why do you ask?" I asked observing his tensed body language.
He looked like he would snatch the vials and smash them any moment.
"Th-This is... This is... the impurity..." He spoke, his arms were shaking by now.
"Impurity?" I asked and he grimaced.
"Throw it away, it’ll only bring chaos." He spoke and I narrowed my eyes.
I had a hunch of what this might be but hearing the child’s words, I could see that he had a fair idea of what this was as well.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked.
"Because I know, I-" he shouted but then abruptly stopped clutching at his chest making me frown as the flared up mana made the shackles beneath his skin shift, tightening.
I grimaced, reaching out to him but he slapped my hand away, stumbling back.
I cursed under my breath watching him grunt in pain as he fell on his knees, I quickly placed the vials in an empty box on my vanity and then swiftly walked over to Sol, placing my hand over his chest casting the Healing spell.
I could see the black shackles slowly loosening and he looked at me with dazed eyes.
"Why do you... Why..." He murmured something which I couldn’t understand before he passed out and I sighed.
This child was a mystery for me, there were various theories in my head about his identity but I couldn’t confirm any of them because of how weak he was and also because of the damned curse.
