Chapter 108: Chapter 108— Tracking

The team straigtened there back and body when they heard those words.

Cole looked to Linda, giving her the go ahead to do what they had planned.

Upon getting the go ahead, Linda moved forward and began scrutinizing the surroundings.

She bent down on a particular spot on the ground, closing her eyes as if she was trying her best to concentrate.

The rest of the group Could do nothing else but to just wait. They remained in there spot and waited for Linda to do her thing.

About five minutes later, Linda opened her eyes and said to everyone here.

"The last time anyone was here, was about three days ago,"

"Three days ago? that’s not too long ago is it." Cole thought.

Just before they could try to do anything else, they suddenly heard the sound of approaching footsteps from opposite sides.

"Damnnn, we are in trouble," Cole said.

The trio began panicking as they had absolutely not idea what they could do to escape such a scenario.

"I think I can help guys," Laura said gently.

The trio turned to look at her in shock, they wondered what she could do in such a situation.

"Are you a Spiriter?" Cole asked.

Laura looked at the ground and nodded gently.

Despite previously having some suspicions earlier, Cole was still quite shocked by that point.

The footsteps had grown much louder and heavier at that point leading to some urgency in the teammates.

"Come closer guys," She ordered.

The trio did as they were told and huddled close to Laura. The moment they grew close enough, Cole could feel it like they were covered by a veil and there presence slowly disappeared.

"I can’t maintain this for long guys," Laura said in a tense voice.

"I hope they don’t stay too long,"

While the group huddled in a slight dark corner, The two approaching groups finally appeared in their line of sight.

To the left were a group of dark trench coat wearing guys and to the right were two of the settlement leaders and some guards holding children.

Seeing the children in those guards hands. Cole immediately shuddered, his teeth was clenching extremely hard. It was taking all he had for him not to burst out and attack them.

Not just Cole, Laura was also holding herself back as best as she Could.

The others were only in a slightly annoyed state, especially Bryan. Linda was calmer, she seemed to have seen scenes like this a lot.

The two groups have finally met somewhere in the middle.

"Hello friends, we have brought the package as usual," the settlement leader said.

"I thought you guys wouldn’t be able to meet up with the deadline this time," Micheal said.

"Hahahaha, we always find a way don’t we," the settlement leader joked.

Micheal remained silent, his eyes still completely focused on the kids they just brought.

"Ohh and about those pesky kids, our guard leader has probably taken care of them now,"

"hehehe, I doubt he can but okay,"

"There’s no time for small talks, just hand over the package,"

The settlement leader’s face darkened slightly but he still forced a smile and nodded to the people behind him.

They responded and proceeded to drop over the kids to Michaels side.

Micheal nodded gently, before turning around to leave after his followers already picked up the kids.

"Wait up sir," thr settlement leader suddenly called out.

"What?" Micheal asked arrogantly. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"If the guard leader is unable to take care of those kids, what are your plans,"

Micheal immediately became triggered by those words, he turned around and began approaching the settlement leader a step at a time.

"Since when did It have to report my actions to you," Micheal he asked when he was right in front of the man.

"oh no no, you misunderstand me sir, I am just worried those kids will disrupt our operations that’s all,"

"I don’t dare question you,"

"Hmph," Micheal harrumphed while taking steps back too.

"There are plans for them, they won’t be around for too long,"

While in there hiding spot, a worry suddenly appeared in Cole’s mind.

"Can’t he sense me like he usually does?"

For some reason, he always seem to forget about that point and always end up in situations like this only remembering when it was too late.

"I hope Laura’s ability can mask even that," Cole thought while looking at Laura.

The Laura in question was completely distracted, he eyes were locked straight on the struggling kids and nothing else.

Beads of sweat were already forming on her head as she can’t seem to handle the strain of using her abilities for so long at a time.

"Hold on Laura, stay strong." Cole said in a low voice.

He could feel the veil that seemed to think covering them was thinning or at least losing its integrity.

Cole knew if that happened, they would be in serious trouble so he could only cheer her on.

After that attempt to put the settlement leader in his place, Michael had turned around again and was ready to leave.

The settlement leader and his gang were also leaving the scene too leaving just Cole and his group.

There footsteps grew more distant as they left the group line of sight.

Minutes later, those footsteps were now completely gone.

Immediately, Laura dispelled her abilities and fell to her knees to catch her breath. Complete exhaustion heavily weighing on her.

"That was really dangerous and unexpected," Linda said.

"But thanks to her, we escpaed unscathed," she said while patting Laura on the back.

"Those bastards," Cole said silently. His eyes were almost blood red as he looked towards the direction Micheal left in.

As if he was remembering something, Cole suddenly turned to look at Bryan while he spoke.

"Were you able to do that thing?"

Linda also seemed interested as she also turned to him with expectant eyes.

A smile formed on Bryan’s face as he nodded his head.

"Game on then," Cole said with fiery eyes.
