Chapter 118: Why did you run?

"What’s wrong?" asked Bo Ailun standing outside his department but the call was suddenly hung up.

That’s because Qie Xieling was running. Why did he run? Well, it was a flight of fight moment and he picked flight. After possibly trash-talking someone who could potentially be important to Luo Muchen whether it was personally or professionally he could guess why he was here.

Qie Xieling ran across campus as fast as he could. His heart was racing and his hands were shaking. Having been compelled by his father to keep exercising Qie Xieling could keep doing this all day. After the embarrassing thing he did on the internet that is cursing out a stranger, he didn’t want to see Luo Muchen, right now.

In fact, the reason why he was so confident earlier was that he knew Luo Muchen was two thousand kilometres away and wouldn’t show up at his doorstep to confront him about it. Who would have thought a week later Luo Muchen would show up and from the looks of it he seemed very pissed.

As he ran, he noticed a dark lecture hall full of students. The professor was playing holo-projector flashing images of the human anatomy and lectures on medicine.

Qie Xieling decided to go in. His steps slowed and he walked past the front seats and sat on the other side at the back of the room.

From where he was he could see Luo Muchen waiting outside. He paced back and forth, with his phone in his hand before entering the lecture hall.

Qie Xieling could see him looking around before finding a random seat. The holographic image zoom in to the ventricles, and Qie Xieling noticed a closed exit door on the side. He bit his lips and glanced at Luo Muchen one more time before slipping away.

At the end of the lecture, the lecture hall suddenly started to hum and the lights turned on. Luo Muchen blinked as he looked around, but he couldn’t find the person he was looking for.

He watched the two doors people were using to exit but after two-thirds of the class left he suddenly realised that Qie Xieling wasn’t there anymore.

He stopped a girl who had been giving him sneaky glances and asked, "Hie, sorry but is there any other door other than these two?"

The girl shyly pointed at the back door and said, "That one but it leads to the laboratories so no one is using it."

"Thank you," he said before running in that direction but Qie Xieling was long gone.

He was slumping forward while lying on Bo Ailun’s shoulder. "Fuck, I ran. I haven’t run like this in a while," he said his breathing heavy.

"Who did you offend?... I am surprised you ran away from a fight," said Bo Ailun handing him a bottle of water.

"You misunderstand... it was Muchen. He just showed up like a ghost and scared the living daylight out of me. I was like a deer in headlights," he said while unscrewing the bottle cap.

Bo Ailun turned his body abruptly causing Qie Xieling to stumble forward as his entire body weight was leaning on him.

"Muchen... the Muchen? You are lying. He is all the way across-," he exclaimed but Qie Xieling who was gulping down the bottle of water raised his finger gesturing for him to give him a minute. Bo Ailun waited but he was tapping his leg with impatience.

When Qie Xieling finished drinking Bo Ailun jumped at the chance asking, "How is he here? Spill?"

Qie Xieling sat down on the picnic table while saying, "The question is not how he is here but why he is here. I fucked up... Do you remember last week that asshole that I showed you on the app?"

Bo Ailun’s brows creased while saying, "You show me a lot of assholes online so how am I supposed to remember everyone."

Qie Xieling, "..."

"The pretty boy. He is Muchen’s... team member and I kind of... got into a fight with him online," he said and Bo Ailun’s eyes narrowed having realised this little liar wasn’t telling him everything.

Qie Xieling knew he had been caught in a lie so he explained in detail. Bo Ailun’s eyes widened while poking his arm. "What if it is his boyfriend? You picked a fight with him for what reason?" reprimanded Bo Ailun.

Qie Xieling couldn’t even defend himself. He ruffled his hair while mumbling, "He was being nasty in his caption. It was so disgusting."

"Then why not tell Muchen, oh I forgot you aren’t on speaking terms," said Bo Ailun and Qie Xieling pouted his lips acting all sad.

"Will you stop yelling at me? I want to go home now. Let’s go eat some skewers and drink beer. I freaking need it. We can play games too."

Bo Ailun wanted to refuse as he had a class soon but when he heard games, he picked up Qie Xieling’s satchel and yelled, "Let’s go before I change my mind."

Three hours later...

While the two of them were lying on the couch with full tummies and half tipsy, Bo Ailun’s cell phone rang.

He picked it up from the coffee table and when he saw it was Luo Muchen he pressed his lips into a thin line while silencing the ringtone.

Qie Xieling tilted his head while asking, "Who is it?"

Bo Ailun chuckled lightly before saying, "It’s my mom. I will go answer it."

Qie Xieling wasn’t suspicious at all. He answered, "Say hi to Auntie for me. I am going to login into the gaming capsule."

Bo Ailun waved him off and went outside on the balcony to answer it. While Bo Ailun was gone, Qie Xieling reached over to touch something hanging around his neck but when he realised it wasn’t there anymore, he sighed. It was probably already in the waste truck right now ever since he threw it away.

He took out his cell phone and accidentally on purpose opened the app. His brow arched when he saw that he had received multiple messages. He clicked on the little icon and found that there were a lot of messages asking about the picture of him and Jinjing.

He ignored those and scrolled down only for him to almost drop his phone when he saw a message from Luo Muchen.

Muchen: Why did you run?

"Fuck!"
