Chapter 50: 50:The Type Of Shit I Had To Deal With

The Chimera was a nightmare. It was a creature built from a scientific abomination of a chaos beast, and to defeat it, one needed the full team of Elderic, Eleanor, Theasre, and Sunta.

It required an entire team battle to take this thing down because you needed Sunta’s strength, Theasre’s precision cutting, Eleanor’s fire power, and Elderic’s mass explosion. You literally had to wipe it out until nothing remained of it.

However, the scene had gone totally off script.

The Chimera looked at Elderic and Eleanor who were slowly crawling up from the dirt, and it shot toward them with lethal intent.

Elderic saw a huge shadow forming over him and he desperately raised his trembling fist to fight, even as blood flowed steadily from his battered body.

The Chimera was just about to step up and finish them when a stone slammed hard against its side.

The creature paused, looking confused. Elderic was just as bewildered.

They both looked around to see Reed standing there, throwing things to get the beast’s attention.

"You big piece of shit! Stop bullying weaklings and come here!" Reed roared at the top of his lungs.

His voice echoed across the clearing, making the Chimera’s eyes narrow down on him with a new kind of rage.

The Chimera moved without any warning and it shot straight toward Reed like a living disaster.

The ground cracked under its massive weight as its heavy claw came crashing down toward his head.

Reed’s eyes widened in shock, and he forced his aching body to react. His ability surged through him and boosted his speed as he twisted to the side.

He barely dodged the attack, but the impact still shook him to his core, and dust and debris blasted into the air all around him.

He didn’t get any time to breathe as he scrambled up and tried to run for his life.

The Chimera followed him instantly. Its tail whipped through the air with a whistle and cut across Reed’s side with a sharp sting.

"Ghh!" Reed let out a pained grunt.

Blood sprayed out as Reed was thrown back by the force. His body rolled hard across the rough ground before he pushed himself up again.

His breathing became uneven and ragged, and his movements slowed down just a little, but he still forced himself to stay on his feet.

The beast kept attacking him without mercy. Its claws tore through the air while its jaws were snapping, and its tail lashed around like a lethal weapon.

Reed kept dodging as best as he could, and his body moved faster than normal, but every single movement was taking a heavy toll on him.

"Reed!"

Elderic and Eleanor forced themselves up from the ground. Their bodies were already badly injured, but they still ran toward him.

Their expressions were incredibly tense, and their voices carried a mix of urgency and fear.

"Do you have any plans?" Elderic asked as they reached him.

They looked at Reed with hope in their eyes.

For a brief moment, Reed froze. His eyes showed a flash of shock, as if he hadn’t actually expected to be asked that right now.

Then he shook his head slightly to clear it and steadied himself against the pain.

"Yes. I have a plan that can save us," Reed said, taking a shaky breath and trying to calm himself down.

"Just follow my lead and keep it focused and delay time. I have something."

Elderic and Eleanor exchanged a quick, uncertain glance, and then they both nodded.

They didn’t ask anything more because there was simply no time left.

They moved together to engage the monster, but the moment they started fighting again, everything went wrong.

The Chimera overpowered them completely and tossed them aside.

BOOM!

A heavy strike sent Elderic flying through the air. His body slammed into the nearby rocks and shattered them on impact.

He coughed out a mouthful of blood as he struggled to get up again.

Eleanor tried to attack from the side by gathering her strength and releasing her power, but the Chimera barely even reacted to her flames.

It turned and struck her before she could retreat.

SLAM!

Her body hit the ground hard, and a sickening crack followed the impact.

Her legs twisted unnaturally beneath her, and they were bending in a way they should never bend.

"AAAHHH!"

Her scream tore through the air as white-hot pain spread through her entire body.

She tried to move or roll away, but her legs did not respond at all. They felt completely useless and heavy.

The Chimera didn’t hesitate for a second and pounced on her. Its massive body came down toward her and blocked out the sky.

The weight of its presence alone made it hard for her to breathe.

Eleanor’s heart pounded wildly against her ribs. She wanted to scream and she desperately wanted to run, but her legs didn’t follow her commands.

They didn’t move an inch.

Her hands pressed hard against the ground as she tried to drag herself back, but it was useless and she was too slow.

At the last moment, her vision started to blur. And then she saw them. Ghosts.

Faint figures were floating around her and flickering like broken memories.

They moved silently and surrounded her as if they were watching her final moments.

"Ahhhh... FATHERRR!"

Her voice broke into a sob, and her strength finally gave out.

Her head tilted slightly as her consciousness started to fade away, but the incoming threat forced her to keep her eyes open.

Her body went limp just as the Chimera’s maw came down with its jaws wide open and ready to crush her completely.

ROOOOAR!

BOOOOM!

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"

BANGGGGHH!

Her voice rang out again, filled with fear and despair, even as she kept her eyes shut tight.

She thought it was finally over. She waited for the pain to tear through her, but even after a moment passed, she didn’t feel anything.

There wasn’t any crushing force weighing on her, nor was her body snapping into pieces.

Slowly, her eyes opened. And what she saw made her freeze in place.

The Chimera’s massive jaws were slammed into the ground right in front of her face. It had stopped.

It was being completely held down. Dust rose in thick clouds around it, and the ground beneath its head had cracked deeply from the force.

Its entire body struggled and thrashed, but it couldn’t lift its head at all.

Standing over it was a man.

He stood firmly with one foot planted against the Chimera’s head, forcing it down into the dirt.

His posture was relaxed, but the pressure he exerted was overwhelming.

The air around him felt heavy and almost suffocating to those nearby.

His face was calm and cold.

His eyes briefly moved to Eleanor, and he scanned her condition before shifting his gaze around the battlefield as if he were assessing everything in a single glance.

"Haaa...."

He let out a long breath as if he were incredibly tired of everything.

"The type of shits I had to deal with once I took my eyes out of those kids," he muttered.

"Truly troublesome."
