Only I Cultivate-Chapter 25: Trapped
Chapter 25: Trapped
"Ghost slave?" Feng Fan asked, puzzled. "What's that?"
Standing next to Luo Li, Wu Yunru's expression also darkened. Instead of answering Feng Fan, he looked at Luo Li. "We should call for backup as soon as possible!"
Luo Li nodded and pulled out her phone. She tried to call Liang Mingxia to request reinforcements, but to her horror, the call never connected.
She sighed, tucking her phone back into her pocket. "It's too late..."
Feng Fan's expression stiffened. "Luo Li, don't tell me—"
"We're trapped in a ghost zone."
Feng Fan felt like dying. 'Why does trouble always seem to follow me?'
Although he wondered that, he already knew the answer. As long as he was the sect master of the Ghost Sealing Sect, ghosts would be drawn to him.
More specifically, drawn to kill him.
"Luo Li, for a ghost to summon a ghost zone, does that mean it's at least as strong as Ma Chen?"
Luo Li shook her head. "Not necessarily, but it's certainly more dangerous than him."
"Why?"
"Because it can create ghost slaves. Any ghost capable of turning humans into ghost slaves is a walking calamity. Normally, at least four teams would be sent to handle a threat like this, but this time, we're on our own. And we need to act fast, the longer we wait, the more people it will turn into ghost slaves."
Feng Fan's expression hardened. 'This is one of the top three hospitals in the city... just how many people are inside?!'
A thought suddenly struck him. "Wait, isn't this wing reserved for people injured in ghost-related incidents? There should be some Hunters here, right?"
Luo Li was quick to respond. "I'm not sure, but it's worth a try. Let's check, but we need to move carefully. I believe the ghost zone was created because of us, meaning we're the primary targets."
"Great, my day off just turned into a life-threatening mission. Thanks a lot, Feng Fan," Wu Yunru grumbled, his face twisted in annoyance.
Feng Fan smiled bitterly. "You think you're the only one who wanted to rest?"
"Let's go," Luo Li interrupted, cutting the conversation short as she headed for the exit.
Feng Fan and Wu Yunru followed closely behind Luo Li, their expressions tense. As soon as they stepped out of the room, ten men appeared in front of them—five approaching from the right side of the hallway, the other five from the left.
They were either patients or staff from the hospital.
"They're ghost slaves—humans controlled by ghosts," Luo Li said. "The moment they are turned into one, they are already dead. Don't hesitate to kill them."
She was sure Wu Yunru, a young master from the Wu family in the capital, already knew this fact. But Feng Fan, who had only recently encountered his first supernatural incident, likely didn't, so she felt the need to warn him.
Feng Fan understood that the words were meant for him and nodded firmly. He didn't like the idea of killing humans, but that didn't mean he would hesitate when necessary.
Noticing that the ghost slaves weren't particularly strong, Luo Li infused her fists with spiritual energy and closed the distance in an instant. Although her primary ability was Barrier Creation, that didn't mean she didn't know how to punch hard!
The first ghost slave entered her attack range, and without hesitation, she threw a jab straight at its face. The ghost slave's head exploded like a balloon!

To Feng Fan's shock, the creature didn't die. The headless body lunged at Luo Li, arms outstretched for a grab, but she sidestepped sharply and delivered a brutal hook to its ribs.
The punch was so powerful that half of its upper body was obliterated. What remained of the ghost slave collapsed to the ground with a dull thud. Without wasting a second, Luo Li dashed toward her next target before they could surround her.
"Stop daydreaming!" Wu Yunru snapped, noticing Feng Fan's distracted stare at Luo Li. "Let her handle those five, we'll take care of the ones on our side!"
Feng Fan nodded and turned his focus to the five ghost slaves before them. Two carried makeshift weapons—one held a chair, the other a scalpel.
Wu Yunru didn't waste time. He drew his baton from his waist, activated his boots, and closed the distance to the nearest ghost slave—the one wielding the scalpel.
Wu Yunru raised his baton high, then brought it down hard, aiming straight for the ghost slave's head. His enemy didn't react, it simply didn't care about the incoming strike.
Instead, it lunged forward, scalpel in hand, aiming for Wu Yunru's heart.
But Wu Yunru remained calm. His baton struck first, smashing the ghost slave's skull open. The scalpel continued its path toward his chest, but just as it was about to pierce him, the ghost slave's grip faltered, and the weapon clattered to the ground.
Wu Yunru's baton was no ordinary weapon, it was a contaminated object with a special effect. Anything it struck would be paralyzed unless its spiritual energy exceeded Wu Yunru's own by a large margin.
While Wu Yunru dealt with his opponent, Feng Fan wasn't idle either. Mimicking Luo Li's attack, he infused his fists with black flames and moved straight at another ghost slave.
The creature didn't flinch. Instead, it threw a punch of its own, completely ignoring the damage it might take. But its attack never landed. The moment Feng Fan's flaming fist connected with its face, the ghost slave collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
Most ghost slaves were tough to take down unless you knew exactly where to strike. But for Feng Fan, that didn't seem to be a problem.
His black flames didn't just burn flesh, they burned souls. Against ordinary enemies, that power was already deadly. But against ghost slaves, who were nothing more than weak, wandering souls controlled by a stronger ghost, it was instant death.
