Chapter 601: Gripping his hair

Coco’s laughter continued uncontrollably, echoing loudly in the kitchen.

She couldn’t believe that a prideful king beast like Richard would stoop so low to sleep with someone— his creator at that, he likes without telling her he loves her!

She kept laughing at her familiar, until a sharp cough caught her attention.

She whipped her head toward the source of the noise, finding Alhai standing there— an amused gleam in his eyes as he raised an eyebrow at her, a knowing look crossing his handsome features.

"I don’t think you should be laughing like this.." He began, his tone dry like the Sahara Desert. "You did the same thing, Coco."

That shut her up quickly, her laughter dying on her lips as her face turned red.

Richard couldn’t help, but smirk as Alhai effectively shut Coco up, feeling a small measure of satisfaction at her flustered expression, because it was about time for someone to put her in her place.

But then, Alhai turned to him with that sharp gaze, causing Richard to straighten up automatically.

"And why—" The silver haired mediator continued, his voice cold. "Didn’t you confess to our lovely fairy first, Richard? What if Lala thought you only wanted her for her body?"

"Wait—what?" Richard stammered, caught off guard making Alhai cross his arms, unamused.

"I said what I said, Richard." Alhai repeated firmly. "What if she thought you only wanted her for her body?"

Richard felt a pang of guilt at the question, because they were right— he should have confessed first.

He winced internally.

Richard opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water before finally managing to speak.

".. She didn’t seem to mind." He mumbled, making the third husband look at him with the most unimpressed stare known to man.

That didn’t make him scared though. It was the woman who suddenly jumped out of her seat and lunged forward, grabbing him by the hair, pulling him toward her.

"You!" Coco hissed, her eyes narrowing in anger.

She repeated his words back at him in a mocking tone, baring her teeth. "She didn’t seem to mind, huh?! Are you trying to be a fuckboy, you dick?!""

Richard flailed, trying to pull away, but her grip was like iron.

"I was—" The goleter tried to protest, but she was a lot stronger than him. "I was not after her body, human!"

"That’s not what your words implied!" Coco growled, tugging and tightening her grip on the roof of his hair, not letting go like her whole life depended on him.

"Ow! Ow, ow, let go, you crazy—" Richard grunted as he tried to escape her death grip, but she was surprisingly fast as well.

"I’m telling you that I wasn’t trying to say—" He sputtered in protest, trying to defend himself, but he got cut off when Coco gave his hair a particularly harsh tug. "Ow! Ow! I wasn’t after her! Not like that, at least!"

The goleter trailed off, his face turning a darker shade of red.

He knew that Coco was too deep into her anger to let go of him, so he had no choice, but to admit what he truly felt.

"It wasn’t just her body, okay?!" Richard cried out, tears welling up in his eyes.

Zaque hovered near the door with Kairo, a concerned frown on their faces, but they didn’t care that much about it.

Alhai and Heiren stood closer to Coco, watching the whole thing play out with annoyance and mild concern for Richard’s wellbeing.

They knew better than to argue with Coco when she got like this.

Thankfully, Richard was smart so he finally gave in, his head lowering as he surrendered to Coco’s grip.

"Okay! Okay! I’m sorry!" He exclaimed, voice strained from both the pain and embarrassment. "I know Lala is important to you— so I was nervous! I’m sorry!"

He winced when she yanked harder at his hair, but didn’t fight back this time.

"There’s no sincerity in your voice!" Coco growled.

The room stayed silent except for Richard’s ragged breathing and the occasional tap of Coco’s knee against the table.

But after a minute, Coco let her glare linger on Richard for a long moment— long enough to make sure he truly understood the severity of his mistake.

Finally, with one last sharp tug just because she could, she let go and settled back into her chair with an irritated huff.

Richard rubbed at his scalp where it had been yanked, wincing slightly as the others exchanged glances, but not really voicing out their concerns towards the goleter.

Alhai sighed under his breath. "Lala is a fairy, who has been good to you, Richard."

"He’s right." She began, her voice stern. "I have no problem with you liking Lala, but what you said earlier is a huge red flag."

Coco sighed heavily, running her hands down her face as she tried to reign in her emotions, her expression turned even more serious as she looked directly at Richard.

Richard had the decency to shift uncomfortably under her gaze, knowing that he was in the doghouse.

Coco narrowed her eyes, her gaze never leaving Richard’s face.

"I received a task a couple of minutes ago." She informed him matter-of-factly. "And it said that I have to help her get comfortable."

Richard paused, rubbing a hand over his sore scalp, already knowing where she was going with the information she just shared.

"And.. I’m assuming you want me to help with that task?" He asked, his voice laced with reluctance.

"You bet your ass you are." Coco said, glaring at him menacingly. "And you better be ready. I’ll make sure to horse you around for the words you spouted."

"Does this mean she won’t be able to fly around us anymore?" Zaque inquired, cutting through the conversation.

"I don’t know." Coco admitted begrudgingly. "But we’ll find out soon."

Richard just groaned on his seat, his eyes darting between them in an attempt to calm his nerves.

"Great." He muttered. "Just.. Great."
