New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 602: Morning flirtation with Quizen
The next morning rolled by and Coco woke up with a warm and familiar weight against her body.
Groggily, she opened her eyes and found herself snuggled up against Quizen’s chest. She let out a low hum of contentment when she felt his arms wrapped around her body, his embrace warm and steady.
The soft sunlight streaming through the windows bathed the room in a gentle glow.
It was bright, so Coco buried her face against his chest, discreetly inhaling his scent before letting out a satisfied sigh.
Her eyes fluttered shut again, enjoying this peaceful moment— but Coco felt Quizen shifting beside her, the subtle movements pulling her from her sleepy haze.
She quickly opened her eyes when she noticed that he seemed to be preparing to disentangle himself from their cuddling position.
Coco instantly perked up and protested, her arms tightening around him as she clung to him.
"No, no, no." She mumbled against his chest, her face still half-smushed into it as she looked up at him. "Stay, please?"
Quizen’s face flushed with embarrassment when he realized he had been caught trying to detach himself from her.
"O-okay.." The mediator conceded almost immediately, the words coming out in a flustered rush, and forced his arms to relax slightly as he settled back against her— his heart fluttering a bit in his chest.
Coco could feel the slight quickening of his pulse as she pressed closer to him, a smug smile playing on her lips.
She buried her face against Quizen’s bare chest again, relishing the feeling of his warm skin, the smoothness of his flesh, the slight rise and fall of his chest with each breath he took, against her cheek— it was all incredibly soothing.
She closed her eyes and let out a soft sigh of contentment, nuzzling gently against him.
Her hands splayed flat against his abdomen, absorbing his warmth and taking in his scent. "You’re so comfy."
Quizen’s arm instinctively tightened around Coco’s waist, just in time for their moment to be interrupted, his gaze flicking towards the door. He
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
"What is it?" He called, his irritation directed at whoever dared to disturb their moment.
A familiar voice filtered through the door, and Quizen recognized it as Zaque’s.
"I’ll be leaving for work." Zaque called out, his voice soft with concern. "Make sure to take care of Coco, okay? If she won’t go to the guild today, have her rest on the bed."
Quizen sighed silently, his annoyance at the interruption fading. Of course, Zaque would nag at him about taking care of Coco even now.
Quizen rolled onto his side, pulling Coco closer as he did so.
He planted a tender kiss on her forehead and called over his shoulder. "Yeah, yeah. Stop worrying and go to work!"
The corner of his mouth twitched, showing his appreciation at the thought of Zaque fussing over Coco’s well-being because deep down, he knew that Zaque’s concern wasn’t completely unfounded.
The silence stretched for a moment, confirming that Zaque had indeed left.
Quizen turned his gaze back to Coco and found her staring at him with wide eyes— eyes shimmering with unmistakable adoration.
"You’re so beautiful.." She whispered, her voice soft and awed.
Quizen blinked in surprise at the sudden compliment, his face flushing slightly as he processed it.
He wasn’t used to hearing such words directed at him— especially not from someone like Coco.
His grip on her waist tightened reflexively before he managed a quiet scoff, his face warm like he was locked in a box.
"Shut up." He muttered, but there was no real bite behind it.
Coco’s lips curled into something downright mischievous as she leaned forward, her nose almost brushing against his chin.
"You’re so beautiful.." She repeated, planting butterfly kisses over the spot. "that I want to kiss you.."
She paused before humming. ".. But let me brush my teeth first, okay?"
Quizen’s face burned at the implication, like he was some kind of irresistible temptation that required morning dental hygiene prep.
His eyebrows furrowed. "You don’t need to brush your teeth just for me."
Coco’s face twisted into an exaggerated look of disgust and she pulled back as if Quizen had just suggested something vile.
"I don’t want to contaminate you with my bacteria." She declared matter-of-factly, like it was the most reasonable excuse in the world. "Besides, my breath probably smells bad right now."
Quizen stared at her for a long second, his expression caught between disbelief and amusement.
"What?" He asked, frowning. "You’re worried about contaminating me?"
Quizen couldn’t help the snort of laughter that escaped him as he rolled his eyes affectionately at her exaggerated expression.
"Seriously? My mouth has seen worse things than your morning breath, Coco." He replied, causing Coco to scowl at Quizen’s skepticism, sticking her chin out.
"I’m serious." She grumbled, her voice firm. "But whatever. Let me brush my teeth."
Then, Coco threw a flare at him. "Once I’m done, I’m going to kiss the hell out of you! So be prepared, Quizen."
The mediator tried to suppress a snort, but failed miserably, his lips twitching in amusement. "Oh, I’m so scared. I don’t know if I can handle your deadly kiss."
Coco rolled her eyes and slid off the bed, her lips still upturned with a smile.
She walked inside of his bathroom and stopped right in front of the sink, only to yelp when she looked up and found Quizen walking into the bathroom as well.
She paused, blinking at him. "What are you doing?"
Quizen raised an eyebrow at her surprised expression, strolling over to the sink. "What do you think I’m doing?"
Coco huffed at his nonchalant attitude, her cheeks puffed out slightly in irritation.
"Whatever." She muttered, stepping aside to let him approach the sink. "Let’s wash our teeth together, so I can kiss you right after."
Quizen rolled his eyes at her insistence, his heart fluttering as he reached for his toothbrush and squeezed a bit of toothpaste onto his brush.
