Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Taking Portraits

Audrey Sutton knew she couldn’t win against him. Every time something like this happened, even if she argued, she would eventually have to listen to him.

So this time, Audrey obediently took the coat he handed over, mumbling, "If you’re going to bring one, at least bring a nicer looking one."

Shane Warner: "They’re all bought by you. You think they don’t look good?"

Audrey Sutton: "..."

Shane Warner: "I’m off work early this afternoon, so you can come over earlier."

"Oh." Audrey nodded and asked him after putting on her shoes, "So what do you feel like eating?"

"Up to you."

Audrey now had some understanding of Shane’s tastes. Although he seemed not picky and would eat whatever was cooked, if it was a dish he liked, he’d eat more; if not, he’d only eat a little.

However, he never mentioned this to her, nor did he praise her cooking nor complain about her cooking skills. Whatever she made, he just ate it.

Audrey and Barry Barrett had a class together in the morning. When Shane dropped her off outside the teaching building, Audrey saw Barry slowly walking over from outside the car window.

After getting out of the car, Audrey stood by the car and waved at Barry, "Bear!"

Barry, looking at his phone, only then lifted his head and, upon seeing Audrey, quickened his pace towards her with a trot.

As Shane watched Audrey get out of the car and walk away, he reminded her with a slightly helpless tone before she closed the car door, "Your bag."

"Oh!" Audrey picked up the bag on the seat, waved gleefully at Shane, and said, "Bye-bye."

Shane still kept a stern face, reminding her, "Pay attention in class."

It was unclear if Audrey heard him; she didn’t even respond before closing the car door and walking into the classroom building arm in arm with Barry, chatting away.

Watching Audrey walk into the teaching building, Shane then turned to leave.

"Your husband is so busy yet still drives you to school every day. He’s an absolute gem of a man."

Listening to Barry’s praise, Audrey wasn’t modest at all, "Of course, I did say I have a great eye for people. How are things going with you and your guy?"

Initially, whenever they mentioned Nolan Hawke, Barry would always shyly rush to explain that they were just ordinary friends who appreciated each other.

But now Barry no longer denied liking Nolan. After all, she held onto her phone smiling foolishly every day, unable to hide her little thoughts.

Like now, at the mention of Nolan, a smile appeared on Barry’s face, "We’re not officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet, but I feel like we’re already acting like it; I think he likes me a lot too but he just hasn’t confessed yet."

Audrey Sutton: "Has he already assumed you’re his girlfriend?"

Barry: "I think so too. Otherwise, why would he ask me out to dinner every now and then?"

Audrey Sutton: "I read that he’s twenty-six. If his family starts urging, you might soon become a married woman."

Hearing about getting married, Barry giggled and started daydreaming again.

She added, "He’s been on an outdoor photoshoot recently. He said he’ll tell me something when he gets back. I wonder if it’s related to this."

"If he really proposes, would you say yes?"

"I think it’s a bit too fast; we should date first before talking about marriage, right? Like Flora said, you should try out relationships a bit more to find what suits you best. Marriage shouldn’t be rushed." Barry paused and continued, "I think I should wait until I graduate to consider marriage. That’s over a year away. If he truly loves me, waiting a year before discussing marriage isn’t too much to ask, and it’ll give us time to get to know each other better."

Audrey nodded, agreeing with Barry’s perspective.

It’s rare for someone in love like Barry still to have a bit of rationality left. Audrey herself recalled the courage she had when she first married Shane.

Though she has liked Shane for a long time, she didn’t know much about him as a person. Even now, she wouldn’t say she knows him very well. She could never quite figure out what he was thinking.

But, thankfully, the concerns she initially had about him being vicious and hypocritical with domestic violence tendencies didn’t materialize.

However, he was quite different from what she had imagined Shane to be.

Besides some annoying little quirks, he was very much worth her taking the plunge to marry.

"By the way, Audrey, Brother Hawke said when he returns, he wants to take some traditional-style photos and needs two girls to model. He told me to bring a friend. Didn’t you always want to take some traditional-style portraits? How about coming along with me?"

Audrey thought it was a great opportunity: "Will it cost anything?"

"He invited me to model, there’s absolutely no fee, plus, what’s our relationship? How could he possibly charge us?" Barry’s little tail was wagging.

Audrey chuckled, "No charge means I definitely have to go. After all, the master is not easy to book."

After seeing Nolan Hawke’s work, Audrey indeed liked his photography style a lot. She had always meant to take some traditional-style portraits but never got around to it.

Initially, she planned to wait until her relationship with Shane settled down and then drag him along for a photoshoot.

She thought Shane’s aloof, indifferent look would look quite striking in traditional clothing.

Around lunchtime, Audrey mentioned the photoshoot to Shane, and he didn’t have any complaints. He just asked her if she needed money.

This was something Audrey appreciated about him: even if it wasn’t something he liked, he never interfered with her interests. Whatever she wanted to do, he would try his best to accommodate her. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Plus, with her birthday approaching, taking some portraits to commemorate the occasion was quite nice.

Most importantly, he was quite eager to see her in traditional attire.

To accommodate Barry, the photoshoot was scheduled for this Saturday.

Early on Saturday morning, Audrey and Barry met up and went to Nolan Hawke’s studio.

It took about three hours just to change and do makeup. Also, according to Barry, they were going to shoot several outfits, so they’d probably end up spending the whole day in the studio.

When Nolan arrived, it was clear to Audrey that his relationship with Barry was indeed close. He frequently stood behind Barry, checking the mirror’s reflection to guide the makeup artist in adjusting her makeup and hair.

Barry was already quite pretty, and having experience in the cosplay scene, she was quite familiar with photoshoots, making her collaboration with Nolan fluid and successful.

Nolan himself mentioned that he might often ask Barry to model for him in the future, as Barry had great versatility and could handle any style.
