Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 246: The Girl Has a Taste for This
Shane returned to his room and searched "morning mood" on his phone, his brows gradually furrowing as he read the introduction.
The world’s largest company for adult products.
What did she buy from such a place?
No wonder she’s been so secretive with him; turns out this girl has a taste for this sort of thing.
Remembering her saying, "I’ll just wear it for you to see then," could it be...
Shane couldn’t help but laugh at his imaginings, surprised she’d thought of using such a method to charm him despite blushing at even a joke in normal times.
But he was pleased by it, curious about what she would dress up as to appear before him.
Shane’s mind was filled with countless enticing images; he even dreamed at night of her becoming a seductive little enchantress, stirring his heart.
Inside an entertainment club, a woman’s melodious singing echoed from a private room.
Simon walked alone to the door of the room, glanced at the Roman numeral above, and pushed the door open.
Inside were a dozen or so handsome men and women, most of whom Simon knew, all part of the entertainment industry.
The host tonight was Clarissa Morgan, and Simon had been summoned by her.
After being framed by Clarissa last time, Simon grew more cautious, aware of her true nature.
Were it not for her holding something over him, he wouldn’t have come today.
Simon was a leading figure in the entertainment world; his presence surprised and delighted his counterparts, all immediately turning their attention to him.
"Wow, Simon oppa!"
"What a rare guest! Why are you here, Senior Sue?"
"Clarissa and handsome Mr. Sue are quite close; they even partnered in a performance last time!"
"It seems only Clarissa could lure such a busy man as Simon here."
Clarissa warmly offered Simon a seat, saying, "It’s rare for everyone to be together, drinks are on the house tonight, let’s have fun."
Cheers drowned out the music, and after some hype, people went back to drinking, singing, or playing games.
Clarissa handed a cigarette to Simon, poised to light it for him.
Simon merely glanced at the cigarette in her hand and sneered, "I wouldn’t dare take your smoke; it might have issues."
Clarissa laughed, placing the cigarette to her lips skillfully, lighting it with practiced ease, and leisurely took a puff before telling Simon, "This Saturday’s my birthday, I’m having a party at Port Tegal Chateau, and I formally invite you."
Simon snorted softly, though his face still wore a smile, and said to Clarissa, "What trick do you want to play this time to frame me? Do you think I’ll attend?"
Clarissa said, "Audrey Sutton will be there too."
Simon said, "What stunt are you planning this time? Drug me? Catch me with her in the act?"
Clarissa laughed, "Don’t think of me as so wicked, just a simple invitation to you, I trust you’ll come, because..." Clarissa paused, moving a little closer to Simon, "those compromising photos are still in my possession."
Their words were laced with gunpowder, but their faces wore friendly smiles, anyone who couldn’t hear would think they were having a pleasant chat.
Simon was held by the leverage she had, aware of the impact those photos could have on him and Audrey Sutton, and Clarissa knew well, exploiting it without mercy.
"What do you want me to do?" Simon asked coldly.
Clarissa leisurely flicked the ashes, seeing Simon compromise, her smile widened, "Just come, as for what needs doing then, I’ll tell you when the time comes."
Simon lowered his eyes in thought, needing a way to strike back, or else Clarissa, with her conniving nature, would keep exploiting him, like an endless pit.
Saturday, Port Tegal Chateau.
The chateau was set in the outskirts, appearing mysterious and dreamy under the night sky.
Audrey Sutton stepped down, holding her dress, smiled at Shane who opened the car door for her, and linked her arm with his, walking along the straight path to the chateau.
The bustling crowd was lively; Audrey noticed many celebrities, though not a fan, she loved watching dramas and variety shows, recognizing some famous faces.
Hosting such a grand birthday banquet, Audrey couldn’t help but feel envious.
Though she disliked Clarissa Morgan, she admired her networking skills, having connections with influential people all over.
Shane wore a black and blue suit matching the color of Audrey’s dress, clearly a couple’s outfit.
Though neither were from the entertainment industry, Shane’s presence commanded attention, naturally bringing attention to Audrey beside him.
Initially feeling uneasy under such scrutiny when with him, Audrey now gracefully received the gazes with him.
Even felt a slight pride internally, especially with Clarissa around.
"Shane, here? Please, come inside." Clarissa greeted guests by the door, speaking solely to Shane, completely ignoring Audrey beside him.
But Quentin Sterling smiled and complimented Audrey, "Audrey is getting prettier, Shane, you’re really lucky."
Shane smiled softly, looking at Audrey, his gaze filled with unmistakable affection.
Audrey generously responded, "Brother Sterling, you’re too kind, also thank you Sister Morgan for inviting us, happy birthday ahead of time."
Only then did Clarissa smile at Audrey, "Thank you, sister. Shane is very busy, I’m glad he could make time to come."
Shane merely held Audrey, not talking to Clarissa throughout.
Quentin never noticed his wife’s inner bond toward another man, maintaining his usual affection for Clarissa, being especially hospitable to Shane, "The wind is strong by the door, let’s talk inside."
Audrey realized Simon was also present once inside.
Simon, a hot idol, naturally was the focus at such gatherings, surrounded by colleagues happily chatting.
Audrey still had some contact with Simon privately, but since Shane disliked her mingling with him, she dared not greet Simon openly.
Moreover, with many people around and gossip aplenty, as Shane’s wife, being too close to Simon would invite talk.
Explaining to others she and Simon were just former playmates, friends, though true, few would believe it.
