When Richard looked over, Kate felt her body trembling slightly, while her entire body felt cold all over. It was as if she had suddenly been plunged into a cold cavern.

Richard’s gaze was fleeting, as he just glanced over, before he began talking to Peter.

On the other hand, after Richard stopped looking at her, Kate finally regained her bearing. She realized, unknowingly, she was sweating.

At this point, she wondered, why was it that she had not noticed something like this during the time that Richard invited her?

He was the same guy who had invited her to join NEXUS, but ever since she boarded the helicopter that brought her to the training camp, they had never interacted again.

It was only at this point, that she realized that this guy was not normal. Almost everything around him seemed to be abnormal.

Could it be that she had only began noticing this because her mind was thinking about abnormal things? Otherwise, it would have been impossible for her not to notice this on their first meeting.

Newton stood in front of an old man, his entire body trembling. At the same time, he cursed his bad luck, while blaming Michael for everything that had happened.

Previously, upon realizing that Bob had lost his memory, Newton decided to investigate this matter. He did not immediately go to look for Michael, instead, he tried to look if there was a link between what had happened to the Blood Reapers syndicate.

But from the information that he managed to obtain, Nathan, the second in command of the Blood Reapers syndicate, had visited Brenton city.

But from the information, that was several days ago, to be exact, 3 days ago. That was exactly the same day that Bob went to visit Michael, but he came back after being turned down.

From Newton’s understanding, it seemed that Nathan might have gone there with some ill intentions. And there was a possibility that Nathan had been spreading rumors.

Regardless, on the day that the incident happened, which was the end of the previous month, just the previous day, nobody from the blood reapers syndicate had gone to Brenton city.

And the thing that confused Newton the most was the fact that, from his informants, it seemed that Nathan had disappeared.

Not just him, even his son, who had also gone to visit Michael, had vanished. It seemed that they might have faced her the same fate as Gregory, who had also disappeared.

Now, looking into this matter, it seemed, out of all the people that had gone to visit Michael, only Bob survived and returned.

Even though he had a broken leg, at least, he was the only one that they could be sure was alive. As for the others, if they were dead or alive, it was unknown.

The problem was that, with Bob having lost his memories, there was no crucial information that could be provided, to allow Newton to understand the situation.

This was something that made him feel a headache for an entire day. But, his moves, especially the aggressive inquiries of the blood reapers syndicate, had ended up attracting the attention of the old man.

And right now, even though it was already night time, and most of the people were already asleep, Newton was wide awake.

The old man, Mathew Santos, an old man with a bulky frame, blue eyes and a mixture of black and gray hair, sat behind the desk where Newton usually sat.

By looking at his expression, it would be impossible for one to be able to tell what the old man was thinking. But Newton, who was very familiar with Mathew, he understood, the old man was furious.

It has been quite a while since the old man came here, and all this while, he had not said a single word. He was just looking at Newton, with Newton not sure what the old man was thinking about.

At this point, Newton could only hope that the old man would not question about Michael. After all, the topic regarding Michael was very sensitive, and it could bring consequences that they might not afford to deal with.

The problem was that, the chaos that had happened recently, all of them were linked to Michael. So, no matter how much he thought, he knew, eventually, the old man would have to know about Michael’s existence.

The old man suddenly began tapping the top of the desk with his finger, finally dispelling the silence that had dominated the study for quite a while now.

During the entire time, the old man’s gaze was fixed on Newton, giving him tremendous pressure.

Even though the old man was thinking of retiring, he was someone that Newton respected a lot. It was not just about this old man being his father, instead, it was the old man’s abilities as well.

Just by looking at that bulky frame and the mixture of black and gray hair, despite him being 64 years old, he looked like a person who was in the early 50s, or even late 40s.

He might have a heart condition, but when it came to fighting, during his youth, he was extremely strong. It was only because of the heart condition that he had to retire early.

"Are you going to speak, or are you waiting for me to start interrogating you?" The old man finally spoke in an old but firm voice.

Newton began sweating heavily when the old man asked him that question. He was not really sure what the old man knew about, so, he was not sure what to say.

What would happen if he said something that the old man was unaware of? That was especially if it was the issue related to Michael.

Regardless of the pressure that he was feeling at this moment, Newton has been holding the position of the second in command of the silent order syndicate for quite a while now.

On several occasions, he had to deal with the leader of the blood Reapers syndicate, and he felt quite some pressure from that old guy.

Therefore, he was able to adjust his mindset, quickly thinking of what to say.

"I have tried investigating about the incident involving Bob, but I have not found out who exactly is behind it." Newton stated.

Despite his words, the old man did not seem to have heard him, or maybe he was waiting for him to continue? In any case, the old man just continued staring at him.

Newton gulped slightly, before he continued, "Previously, I heard about the incident involving Marion Wilson, from the Wilson family. They were in some kind of problem, and Marion was being chased by some people sent by the Laito family.

She had run off to Brenton city, which is why I decided to send Bob over to help out. As for the reason why I sent Bob, it was because I thought, even if brother has disappeared for quite a while, he disappeared with the daughter of the Wilson family.

If he came back one day, and realized that we just stood by and allowed someone from the Wilson family to die, he would definitely blame us.

That was why I decided to do this, just in case.

Unexpectedly, something happened during the trip to Brenton city, as there was an ambush from the blood reapers syndicate. So, I had no choice but to send Gregory over.

But then things turned out this way, with Bob being dropped off at the entrance of his house, while Gregory disappeared. And, Bob has lost all of his memories regarding what had happened there, which is an indication that this is the work of a mutant."

This excuse, it was something that Newton had already planned before. The moment that he realized that things were getting out of hand, he began investigating everything that had happened, especially related to Michael.

That was when he found about Marion, and the conflict between them and the Laito family. Even though he did not do anything, considering that the issue was already solved, he could claim that he had decided to take action because of this.

As for if the old man investigated, at least, Newton had left a way out for himself. With the mention of the ambush, Nathan’s appearance within Brenton city would be enough to be able to prove that.

It was because of the ambush that he did not have the time to deal with the problems that the Wilson family was having. Simply put, this excuse, it could work, even though it had quite a number of loopholes.

The moment that Newton mentioned Zachary, the old man’s expression shifted slightly. But then again, his expression returned to being indifferent, as he continuously gazed at Newton.

Finally, a few seconds later, he said, "I don’t care what kind of game you are playing. But let me tell you something, if I find that you have done something behind my back, I promise you, you will regret it."
