Clap! Clap! Clap!

All around, the recruits began clapping, as if they had just enjoyed what they had seen.

Previously, in the fight against Evan and the opponent that he had completely trashed, everyone felt a chill down their spines.

They felt that that guy was unlucky, and they all prayed that they would not be the ones to face Evan in the next round.

And when they realized that the final fight would be between Evan and Kate, most of them felt relieved. At least, they would not have to face either of them.

Evan was extremely ruthless, while Lina seemed to be invincible. Facing out of them meant defeat.

And when the fight began, seeing how one-sided the fight was, most of the recruits were not that much surprised. From the training, all the way to the previous 4 matches, it seemed that Lina was not having much of a problem dealing with her opponents.

So, to most of them, this was already something that they had anticipated to happen. Even Kate had already known, since she was able to beat Evan, then Lina would definitely be able to do it more easily.

It was just that, neither of them had expected what would happen next. Lina completely thrashed, while not being given the chance to surrender.

This immediately reminded them the fight where Evan ended up beating someone for the entire 10 minutes duration, just to torment him.

He could have easily allowed the guy to give in, or he could have knocked him out, but Evan just continuously beat him, while not giving him the chance to admit defeat.

This was something that told most of the records that Evan was one ruthless guy. And more than that, they felt that he was being too much, at least, they thought, if they were to face him, they did not want to experience such a fate.

That guy, after being beaten up, he had to be sent to the infirmary, and his combat assessment ended there. Even though he had managed to secure one win during the first round, the second round, he faced Evan.

And with him being unable to participate in the following rounds, the possibility of him being eliminated were extremely high, despite his strength.

Now, observing as Evan was being pummeled, they felt thrilled. They continuously looked at Alex, wondering if he would interfere.

Unexpectedly, Alex, during the entire fight, just stood outside the ring, with his arms crossed in front of his chest. It was as if he was enjoying a good show.

And looking at the stands, the other higher ups, none of them showed the intention of intervening. It was as if to them, whatever was happening in the ring did not matter to them.

In the end, after Evan was given a good thrashing, he passed out, which made Alex announced that Lina was the winner.

At the end of the fight, as the recruits came back to their senses, they became excited. They felt that Lina had done justice.

While she had not been able to prevent Evan from proceeding with the next stages of the recruitment, at least, he had to be sent to the infirmary as well.

They could tell, most probably, she had beaten up Evan due to the previous incident. And, from the previous fights against her opponents, she was always going easy on them, allowing them to be able to compete in the following fights.

Receiving the applause from the crowd, Lina did not have much of a reaction. She just looked at the unconscious Evan, before she stepped away from the ring.

She was not the last person to fight, as there were still others that needed to participate in their final fights.

While she was leaving, Alex could not help but gaze at her with admiration in his eyes. He could see, this lady, not only was she strong, but she seemed to be the type that distinguished between good and bad.

Of course, Alex did not know about the backstory between Kate, Lina and Evan. But even then, his impression of Lina improved, as he thought, no matter what, he would have to include her in his team.

While Alex proceeded to call out the next contestants, Lina went back and sat next to Kate.

And as she sat down, her previously cold expression suddenly melted, as she revealed a smile while asking, "What do you think? Did I handle him well?"

"Yeah, he got what he deserved." Kate nodded as she said.

Before coming here, she was a police officer. Even though she had only joined the police force because she wanted to find a way of taking revenge, still, she was a person who did not like to see others using their strength to bully others.

At least, she would not do that. In the situation where Evan had an extreme advantage, he could have easily ended the fight.

And, he would have not only saved his strength, he could have gotten much more time to relax, and the 3 points would be received as well.

Anyway, despite what everyone was thinking, they felt satisfied by the end results. As for Kate, she just felt a little regretful that she was not the one who had ended up beating that guy properly.

Regardless, the fights progressed as usual, and finally, after the final match, the total number of points were analyzed, and the rankings were revealed.

Of course, during the fight, there were two breaks taken, one for lunch break, while another one was to allow the recruits to rest, which was before the fourth round.

From this combat assessment, there were only two people who had achieved a perfect score, Kate and Lina, with 15 points each, after 5 wins.

Then below them, there were three recruits who achieved a total of 4 wins, granting them a total of 12 points.

The next group had six recruits, who had achieved a total of 3 victories. Of course, it was in this group that Evan was in as well.

That guy, he had lost the first match to Kate, and the final match to Lina. With only 3 victories, he had 9 points.

Then, where the majority finished, a total of 10 recruits, who achieved 2 wins, with a total of 6 points each.

As for the final lot, there were 5 recruits that achieved only one win out of five matches.

It was in this group that the person who had been beaten up by Evan ended up in. With the strength that he had demonstrated in the first round, if he had been allowed to compete in the third or even the other two last rounds, he might have achieved at least 1 victory.

Unfortunately for him, he met with Evan, who ended his dream. And so, he was in the last group of five people, who would also be eliminated from the training camp.

As expected of the recruits that were to join NEXUS, at least each person managed to get a victory. Otherwise, if there was even one person who would be defeated by all of their 5 opponents, it would be too embarrassing.

As the results were announced, Kate and Lina were not that much surprised, as they had been paying attention to the proceedings of the combat assessment.

Since the two of them were the only ones who had won every fight, they received glances that were filled with both envy and admiration.

As for those who had finished last, they felt despair. Even though they had not been clearly informed what this organization that they were supposed to join was, it was their hope.

During the invitation, they had been given hope for something. Others thought of becoming very strong in the organization, achieving something in their lives, while others had other purposes.

Unfortunately, those dreams were shattered, as they lost. So, while others were excited to survive, those that were to be eliminated felt crestfallen.

After Alex announced the rankings of the combat assessment, he no longer continued lingering around on the ring. After glancing at the two top scorers, he retreated back to where he had been sitting before the start of the combat assessment.

And as he sat down, Peter stood up, but he did not descend to the ring. Instead, he addressed the recruits from there.

"Just as you were informed before, the last five in this combat assessment will be eliminated. As for those who have survived, there is another session that will follow.

You will be informed of the details later on, but you should know, the higher your ranking, the higher the benefits that you will receive.

So for now, apart from those five who trailed, the rest of you can leave, and go back to your dormitories to relax. You will be called upon tomorrow, to be informed of what you are supposed to do next." Peter’s voice was loud, clearly heard by everyone.

And as the recruits began leaving, they wondered, what kind of benefits they would receive, and what was the following session?

Could it be that they would officially begin training? From what they had been informed previously, the physical training that they had been undergoing during the previous month was just to make sure that they were fit.

So, would they finally be given the chance to use weapons and so on? Just the thought of that was thrilling to most of them.

Kate on the other hand glanced at Richard, who had not said a single word ever since he arrived in the training camp, at least addressing the recruits.

And even now, he remained seated, while gazing at the sky, not paying attention to the recruits.

While Kate was still looking at him, her thoughts wondering about what would happen next, Richard suddenly gazed over towards her.
