Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1118: You Want Me to Carry You?
Jocelyn Morgan’s breath hitched, and the air around her instantly froze!
She slowly raised her eyes, locking onto Ian Shelby’s gaze.
In that moment their eyes met, he smiled slightly, "Alright, let’s get an x-ray first, see if there are any fractures. You seem to be having some trouble walking."
He shifted the topic, dispelling her embarrassment.
"You write the order," Cecilia Dunn said, "I’ll go downstairs to pay."
"No need to go down." Ian Shelby grabbed the mouse and started working on the computer. Soon, a printed order with a QR code was ready, "Just scan this."
"I’ll do it myself." Jocelyn swiftly took out her phone from her bag, grabbing the order before her good friend could, and started scanning the code to pay.
At this moment, Cecilia’s phone rang. After answering, she said, "Okay, I’m at the hospital with Jocelyn, I’ll be back later."
"What’s up?" Jocelyn asked.
"My mom’s looking for me," Cecilia was still incredibly loyal, "it’s nothing, I’ll go with you for the x-ray first." Saying that, she helped Jocelyn up, "Doctor, what floor is the x-ray on?"
Ian Shelby pointed inside the room, "This way."
"You’re doing the x-ray?" Jocelyn was surprised, "Isn’t there a dedicated radiology department?"
Ian replied, "What? Worried I’m not professional enough?"
Once more, their gazes met, and Jocelyn could feel an aura of warmth and gentleness emanating from him, tinged with compassion.
Who was this man? A genius Pharmacist, outstanding in the medical field—could he be unprofessional?
"..." Jocelyn felt awkward, her throat felt worse than having a fly stuck in it.
"Come in, we can certainly afford a few more machines." With that, Ian turned and walked toward the inner room, pulling back the curtain.
As the curtain was drawn back, Jocelyn and her friend saw the large, new machine inside.
"Let’s go." Cecilia supported her firmly, guiding her inside.
Ian was adjusting the machine, wearing a lab coat detailed with meticulous precision from the collar to the cuffs, "Lie down. You don’t need to take off your shoes."
Facing such a large machine in the empty room, Jocelyn instinctively felt a bit of fear.
Once he had finished adjusting, Ian turned his gaze to her, "What are you waiting for? Need me to carry you?"
"..." Jocelyn’s chest tightened as their eyes met again.
Ian could see a hint of fear in her expression; this must be the first time she’d been injured and undergone an x-ray.
Cecilia helped her lie down, reassuring her, "It doesn’t hurt; it’s just like taking a picture."
Her right leg genuinely hurt, and she was particularly cautious with each move. Added to that, she was wearing a short skirt, making lying down incredibly... awkward!
Ian casually grabbed a blanket and tossed it over her legs, covering her completely even without touching.
"Thank you." Jocelyn was quite surprised, touched by this small detail, and looked at him gratefully.
Ian, however, did not look at her. He was adjusting the position of the imaging device, trying to avoid moving her painfully injured right leg.
Cecilia, unaffected by Ian’s looks, was caught in her own world of heartbreak, immersed in the pain of betrayal.
Howard Sawyer was her first love from high school, someone she thought she’d marry, but it ended like this... She probably would never believe in love again.
As these thoughts filled her mind, she couldn’t help but secretly wipe away her tears.
Lying under the machine, Jocelyn watched Cecilia’s state, feeling quite sorry for her.
Once her leg healed, she’d personally deal with Howard! This wouldn’t end just like that.
At this moment, Cecilia’s phone rang again.
"Is your aunt urging you again?" Jocelyn asked, "You go ahead. I’m fine, whether staying in the hospital or undergoing treatment, I’ll cooperate."
"But..."
"What’s the ’but’ here? You’re not a doctor; staying here can’t help anything." Jocelyn said considerately, "Your aunt called twice already; it must be important!"
