The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 447: Official (3)
Chapter 447: Official (3)
"Annalise! About time you brought my daughter here," Phillip said, glaring at Rafael as he was the one to ruin their plans.
Phillip spent the day putting together the decorations for Annalise’s proposal only to hear that Rafael had set up somewhere else. It was already too late for him to change Rafael’s mind and Phillip didn’t want to be rude by showing up.
It was a surprise for him to see Annalise and Rafael already since he thought they would want to be alone. Phillip was getting ready to put away everything he prepared when Annalise and Rafael showed up right in time to stop him.
"I am engaged, father," Annalise said, showing her ring even though her father might have seen it already. She felt the need to show it to everyone she would come across between now and the wedding.
"Congratulations," Phillip said, pulling in Annalise for a hug. "I wish you a lifetime of happiness with him."
"Thank you. You put in so much work to surprise me. Are those fake flowers?" Annalise questioned, finding the flowers her father had placed around to look strange.
"They are fake," Phillip confirmed. He tried to be creative to get flowers to be used as decoration. "I can’t take credit for making them. I came across someone in the market and asked her to make a few for me."
"They are pretty," Annalise said, stepping out of her father’s embrace to take a closer look at the flowers. "Now I can look at flowers without being afraid my skin will want to itch. The palace garden back in the Casto kingdom was a nightmare for me. Thank you," she thanked Phillip.
Phillip felt all his hard work had not gone to waste now that he watched Annalise pick up the flowers which were made to match real flowers. These flowers would not go to waste because they could be placed on his father’s grave.
"How did you propose to her?" Phillip asked, wanting every detail about the bright idea Rafael had.
Annalise panicked because she was not ready to share that Rafael had beaten her in their sparring match. "It is something we will share when we see mother. Then we won’t have to share the story over and over again. How long were you here alone, father?" She asked, changing the subject.
"Ezra and a few others were here with me, but they left a little after we heard Rafael was going to propose somewhere else. No one expected to see you so soon. Why did you come back already?" Phillip asked, curious about why they didn’t sneak off like he thought they would.
Annalise forced a smile as hearing her father’s words felt like she was stabbed in the chest for knowing that they could have stayed where they were.
"We came to let you know that it went well and to inform you that I bought a house for Annalise and me. We will be spending the night there and could use your help in asking others to not disturb us. We have yet to eat and wish to enjoy our engagement alone," Rafael said, helping Annalise with a lie.
Rafael was also surprised like Annalise to hear that Phillip was not going to look for them.
"What a bold request," Phillip muttered as he had made it clear that he wanted them in separate rooms. With the two engaged, he had no say in keeping them away from each other. "I will pass on the message that Annalise said yes and you want to be alone. Before you go, you should pack up some of this food. It is still warm."
Annalise picked up a few of the flowers to take to the home she would now share with Rafael so they could help bring life to it until they got everything they needed.
Annalise then walked over to Phillip who went quiet. She knew her father well enough to know that he had to be emotional over her getting engaged and already leaving their home. "Father, are you free tomorrow? If you are, I would like for us to spend time together like we did in the past."
Phillip stopped packing away the food and looked down beside him at Annalise. "What is the occasion? Is there something else you need to share with me?"
Annalise shook her head. "There is nothing I have to share with you. I just want us to have fun like we used to. It is fine if you don’t have time. We can plan it another day."
"How could I be too busy for my daughter? Especially when you are asking for my time. I will be ready to join you no matter the time. Should I pack food for us? What is it that you want to do?" Phillip questioned, thrilled to have Annalise wanting to do something with him.
It was long since the two of them got to have a father-and-daughter day because he had been so occupied with the border guards trying to attack and then Annalise had run away from home. He looked forward to a peaceful day with just the two of them or Celine joining so they could all be together.
"I was thinking we could go on a walk like we used to do in the past. For you to give me advice and we could just have fun. I don’t exactly have a plan yet. I just want to hang out like we used to do when I was younger," Annalise replied. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Then I will gather everything we need for a day out. Just enjoy your night," Phillip said, pulling her close once more. He had thought she was starting to forget about him because she had Rafael in her life now, but he was wrong.
It was thoughtful of her to think of him when she should be focused on herself and Rafael then with sharing the good news tomorrow.
Annalise leaned on her father as he continued to pack up food for her and Rafael. The food was more than she and Rafael needed, but she didn’t want to stop Phillip when he was doing something so nice for her.
"You should go back now to be on time for dinner at home with mother and the others. This can be cleaned up tomorrow," Annalise said, wanting her father to leave instead of staying here. "I will come back in the morning to look around at everything you put together for me."
"Then I will only get rid of the lights. Go on before it gets any later and you are blocked by anyone looking to ask about the ring on your finger. You two must be impatient to celebrate. I will see you in the morning when you are ready," Phillip said, giving Annalise one last hug.
He had the perfect view of Rafael from where he should with Annalise and with her backing Rafael, Phillip had the chance to whisper, "Hands off my daughter."
Rafael nodded his head, agreeing to what Phillip wanted because it would be Annalise being the one not following what Phillip wanted.
"Go on," Phillip said, giving Annalise the food he packed so she could leave. "Make him carry it all when you get to him."
