Chapter 448: 447. The L Word Problem (2)

After Davian finally left, I sat in my seat close to mortification. I steepled my fingers in front of my face as I thought deeply about how to deal with this.

Davian seemed far too gone with this L- thing.

"How do I deal with this?" I muttered.

[Goddess of Wisdom has grabbed her popcorn.]

[Defender of Divine Glory asks why it’s so hard to accept someone’s feelings.]

"Why don’t you ask that same question to all the protagonists from the romance novels? You’ll get a better answer. This is a different genre."

[Dear Host, kindly don’t break the Fourth Wall.]

"Shut it, and give me a skill that can help me erase a person’s memories."

[Giver of Gifts says that erasing a person’s memories doesn’t mean their feelings will go away.]

"Then give me something to erase a person’s feelings."

[Goddess of Wisdom asks you to gather yourself and accept it.]

"Accept what?!"

[Giver of Gifts asks you to accept Davian’s feelings as well.]

[Defender of Divine Glory agrees with Goddess of Wisdom and Giver of Gifts.]

"I quit." I spoke.

[Goddess of Wisdom says that you can’t quit.]

"Screw my life."

The doors opened again and Roan walked in looking visibly relaxed. He plopped on his seat and started working.

Should I get engaged to a safe option guy? But wouldn’t that make Davian act out somehow? But what if I announced that I’m getting engaged to myself- Reina and Ocean pair. It was an option that I had kept in list. He wouldn’t possibly go against me.

No, he definitely would... He might even think I betrayed him now that I knew the lady he loved was Reina. It’s so damn confusing and frustrating!

I thought I had sorted it out somehow.

"What’s wrong, Master?" Roan asked getting back to his casual tone.

"I’m screwed." I answered.

"Hm? That’s rare, who dares give our valiant Master a hard time?" He asked in a joking tone.

"Grand Duke Alarice’s hier, Davian Raden Montaire." I spoke.

"And what did he do?"

"He’s in love with me." I spoke.

For a moment, there was complete silence before I heard the sound of Roan’s hands hitting the desk as he stood up.

"What?!"

His shock turned to roaring laughter as he slammed his fist on the table while going crazy.

"I told you! I told you, didn’t I?" He laughed and I closed my eyes.

"Not exactly with me as in with Ocean, Roan... He’s... Well, it’s with my Reina’s form."

Roan’s laughter stopped and he stared at me.

"What?"

"He’s in love with Reina." I said and he sighed slumping back in his seat.

"Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is..." He said his cheeks going red, "that form... Anyone would fall in love."

"I appreciate you stating the obvious but why don’t you give me a way of getting out of this?"

"Eh? Getting out of this? What do you mean?"

"How could I get out of this situation?"

"You’re asking for my advice?" He asked.

"What does it look like?"

"Oh, my! Finally! You recognized my expertise," he brightened up and cleared his throat.

"So, first things first, what do you feel about him?"

"Huh? What does that have to do anything with this?"

"Um... Everything. It’s the matter of love, Master. What do you think of him?"

"He’s a good man, quite capable and strong. He’s also the future Grand Duke and is already pretty influential. Not to mention, he is also very-"

"Wait, wait, that’s all the kind of information that anyone knows I’m asking about your feelings."

"And again, why that?"

"Because he’s in love with you, so, first you should know what you feel about him?!" He said and I sighed.

"I don’t have to think about this, just tell me how do I get rid of his feelings for me?"

"Have you lost it? How could you get rid of his feelings?"

"Huh?" I glared at him and he gulped.

"I-I mean, it’s his feelings and if he really likes you then it’ll be very difficult." He said and I sighed.

"That’s the reason why, I’m asking you." frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Are you worried that if he knew about your secret something bad would happen?" He asked and I sighed leaning back in my seat.

"Lady Dahlia already knows though, I had asked her to keep it a secret."

"Oh, so your mother-in-law already knows."

"Don’t call her my mother-in-law!" I almost threw my paper weight at him.

"Well, whatever, why are you against it? He’s a good guy as you say, he’s strong enough and he’s also on good terms with Kai. He’s basically the best husband you could ask for."

I stared at Roan for a moment before I sighed, "I’ll just figure something out myself."

"All right!" He spoke and then asked, "But, can you just tell me why you’re so against it? He already acts like a lost puppy around you, if he got to know you and Lady Reina are the same then he’d basically worship you. What’s wrong with that?"

I sighed, I didn’t have a strong answer for why here, but I couldn’t help but feel like my guts were quivering the moment I thought about this possibility and then the feeling of things not being in my control would overshadow. I was already walking a dangerous path, there would be more dangerous things to happen.

"Davian is a good friend, I don’t want to take things further. Besides, even if he... has feelings for me, I might not be able to reciprocate considering I have so much else to look after." I said and Roan exhaled through his nose.

"All right, if that’s what you want but it still is up to His Highness, the Prince about his feelings. I’m betting on his feelings, for some reason, I don’t think he’s going to lose."

"Hey, you’re my aide." I pointed out.

"That’s the reason why I’m doing this," he shrugged with a smile.

Regardless, there were things to be sorted.

I stood up from my chair and walked past my desk making my way to the door.

"Where you going? To see Prince Davian?" Roan asked.

"No!" I glared back at him and he laughed.

It was a bad move to ask him for an advice. I walked over to the guest room where the Dragon child was resting. It had been nearly two weeks that he had been unconscious. I needed to see his condition thoroughly this time.

As I opened the doors, a faint pulse of his Dragon’s Presence brushed against me—fragile, almost translucent, like it was barely tethered to this world. The maids stationed inside bowed and quietly exited at my silent command.

I stepped toward his bedside, my gaze falling on the small, delicate frame curled under the covers. He seemed to have regained some color in his cheeks, but he was still far too thin, his limbs frail and body too light—as if the wind itself could lift him away. I couldn’t tell how old he truly was. He looked like a child, yet he had managed to defeat a demon alone.

Carefully, I reached out and brushed my hand across his head. Soft golden curls tumbled beneath my fingers, almost ethereal in texture. For a fleeting moment, I felt as though if I dared blink, he would dissolve into a cascade of golden flakes—shimmering and gone.

I tried the Life Connection again but, it was blocked again for some reason. The system claimed that he was cursed but I wasn’t given a proper answer on what kind of curse.

"Wake up, child... Tell me, who did this to you?" I spoke.

I usually spoke to him whenever I visited him but there was no response, he seemed like he was in a coma. There was no way of knowing what was wrong with him even with the Mana Eyes because everything seemed fine except for his heart.

His Mana Heart was wrapped in black chains that restricted his mana, it was impossible to treat and to figure out anything. The curse on Kai was of secrecy and the incantations were on his tongue but for this child, his curse was unknown. I had given Silas the information about this and he said he would look deeper.

This was a soul bound curse- the similar kind that was on Kai when he was in Denril. But this one’s incantations only spelled curse and that incantation wasn’t even on his skin it was only visible to me when I saw it through my Mana Eyes. The incantation that curled around his heart and coiled around his abdomen and neck like the black snake-like shackles.

"Wake up soon, child." I whispered before I turned to leave but then my eyes widened.

A light touch.

I looked down in disbelief to see small, bony fingers curled feebly around two of mine.

My breath caught.

I slowly turned back, eyes wide, heart stilling as I met his face.

His golden eyes, slitted like a dragon’s, slowly opened. They shimmered with fractured clarity, as though dragging themselves from the depths of a long and painful dream.

"Ugh... Aq...ua...?" He mumbled in a frail, almost inaudible voice.
