Chapter 93: One Last-ditch Effort

As Nahzgor and Izael's armies turn the tide of battle, you see Izael himself descend towards the tower wearing his radiant blue armor and looking down at the four of you proudly. You finally manage to collect your emotions and get your head on straight before standing up with Aatu.

" Brother! It's good to see you again! "

Izael says to Aatu as he lands in front of you. Aatu smiles and gives his brother a hug as he responds.

" It's even better to see you, Izael. I had a feeling you'd come to help us, it was just a matter of when. "

" Do not strike until the enemy has played their entire hand. Know your enemy and wait for the most opportune moment to time your reprisal, adjusting it accordingly after seeing what they're capable of. It's one of the very first things you taught me about warfare and commanding my army. "

Izael says humbly as he pats Aatu on the back. Izael then turns around and looks out over the battlefield as he asks Aatu a question.

" This attacking army... they're not of our universe anymore and hence we cannot use our godly domains on them, correct? "

Aatu nods his head before Izael continues talking.

" It's no matter. Nahzgor's army combined with my own should be enough to at least guarantee a stalemate against what's left of their forces. The Valghuli are the real problem that we have to deal with. "

Suddenly, the conversation is interrupted by the doors at the entrance of the tower slamming open violently. The tower rumbles slightly with each footstep of the absolute unit approaching you as several golden chains drag against the ground, and it's obvious to you that you're looking at Nahzgor. He's wearing his golden armor that's covered in blood with his chains dragging behind him, making a dense and heavy metallic sound as they scrape the floor.

" Give them to me. I'll fucking kill them all. Every last one of them. "

Nahzgor says as he finally reaches the group.

" NAHZZY!! "

Reylesh says as she jumps on him, rubbing her skin all over the blood on his armor to absorb it and showering him with kisses on his face. Nahzgor's tough guy act immediately fades as he tries not to blush from Reylesh climbing on his armor and showering him with affection. He does his best to remain unfazed and act cool as he gently picks up Reylesh and sets her down like she's a kid despite her being the size of a full grown woman while remaining focused on the conversation between Aatu and Izael. Reylesh proceeds to clean the rest of the blood off Nahzgor's armor as Aatu responds to him in amusement.

" Are you saying that you intend on fighting these Valghuli despite one single Valghul being strong enough to kill entire pantheons of Gods much like yourself? "

" You're goddamn right. They killed our brothers and I'm going to make them pay for it with their blood, even if it's at the cost of my own life. "

Nahzgor says with conviction before Izael chimes in.

" Let's take it easy, Nahzgor. I know that ego is your thing and it's very admirable that you're willing to die to avenge Noeh and Sowzo, but it's an undeniable truth that one Valghul alone could effortlessly kill every God here at the same time except for Aatu. "

" That's not entirely true, Izael. "

You hear a familiar womanly voice say as pink cherry blossom petals begin blowing through the air around you. You immediately look to where the voice and the petals are coming from to see Faerah approaching the group in a beautiful pink dress.

" Our Father already took the disparity in strength between Valghuli and Gods like us into account when he imprisoned Abbadon in The Light. I'd say that we'll all fare much better than we expect against the Valghuli here once Abbadon fulfills a crucial part of our Father's plan. "

Faerah then looks at Nahzgor with her soft and loving eyes as she speaks to him.

" You will get your fight, Nahzgor. "

" What do you mean? "

You ask Faerah, confused.

" What does my imprisonment have to do with your strength as Gods? "

Faerah turns her attention towards Aatu with a soft smile, who then answers your question.

" Abbadon. I'm sure you remember how your imprisonment in The Light lasted over one-hundred billion years, correct? "

You nod your head in acknowledgment before Aatu continues elaborating.

" Do you happen to remember what my Father told you happens to those who do not believe in Gods when they die whilst he was bringing you out of The Light and into this universe? "

The One's voice echoes within your head as you recall one of the very first things he ever told you.

" ʀᴇʟɪɢɪᴏɴ ɪꜱ ᴀʟꜱᴏ ɴᴏ ᴇxᴄᴇᴘᴛɪᴏɴ. ʏᴏᴜʀ ɢᴏᴅꜱ ᴇxɪꜱᴛ ᴏɴʟʏ ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜꜱᴇ ɪ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇᴅ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴀɴᴅ ᴀʟʟᴏᴡᴇᴅ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴛᴏ ʀᴜʟᴇ ᴏᴠᴇʀ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴜɴɪᴠᴇʀꜱᴇ. ʏᴇꜱ. ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴅᴏ ᴇxɪꜱᴛ. ᴀʟʟ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇᴍ. ᴡʜɪᴄʜᴇᴠᴇʀ ʀᴇʟɪɢɪᴏɴ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʀᴀʏ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇꜱᴜʟᴛꜱ ɪɴ ᴡʜᴀᴛᴇᴠᴇʀ ʏᴏᴜ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇ ɪɴ ᴛᴏ ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴀꜰᴛᴇʀ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʟɪꜰᴇ ᴇɴᴅꜱ. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏ ɴᴏᴛ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇ ɪɴ ʀᴇʟɪɢɪᴏɴ ᴀɴᴅ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ɴᴏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴꜱ ᴀꜰᴛᴇʀ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴄᴏᴍᴇꜱ, ᴛʜᴇɴ ʏᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴅᴇᴍɴɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜʀꜱᴇʟꜰ ᴛᴏ ᴇᴛᴇʀɴᴀʟ ɴᴏᴛʜɪɴɢɴᴇꜱꜱ ʙʏ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴏᴡɴ ᴄʜᴏɪᴄᴇ. ʏᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ ɪᴍᴘʀɪꜱᴏɴɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜʀꜱᴇʟꜰ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʟɪɢʜᴛ. "

You answer Aatu, thinking about The One's words and what they meant.

" Yeah... He told me that every mortal in The Holy Omniverse that doesn't believe in Gods gets imprisoned into The Light eternally... "

Aatu nods his head with a smile, watching you follow along with what he's explaining before asking you another question.

" And you understand that Gods get their strength from a universe's prayer and worship, yes? "

You nod your head before Aatu continues.

" What if, hypothetically, as one last-ditch effort to fight back against The None's forces, our Father decided to give all of the imprisoned mortals in The Light one last chance at an afterlife if they were willing to worship and pray to the Gods of this universe? "

Nahzgor gasps in disbelief, immediately understanding what Aatu is implying.

" There are infinite universes within a multiverse, and an infinite amount of multiverses within the Omniverse. Because of the sheer amount of mortals who've died over the past one hundred eons within each of those infinite universes that belong to each of the corresponding infinite multiverses, we wouldn't just have the power of infinite worship... it would be the power of infinite worship multiplied an infinite amount of times. "

Nahzgor says as he turns his attention towards you.

" And since Abbadon here has The Holy Omniverse Transcript, he'll be able to use our Father's power to give us the worship and prayers from the mortals who are trapped in The Light... "

Reylesh bursts out laughing as she slaps Nahzgor's shoulder pauldron, teasing him upon hearing this information.

" Haha! Aren't you happy?! Looks like you're finally gonna get the kind of power that you've been after for thousands of years, Nahzzy! "

" It's not just him, Reylesh. It's all of us. With power like that, we'll also be able to help Abbadon fight the Exemplars that are on their way to Aria right now. "

Faerah says proudly before you look down at the book and ask the Gods a question.

" Okay... How would I use The One's power to give you the worship and prayers from The Light? Am I going to need to open a portal or something? "

Izael shakes his head as he responds.

" No. I closed the portals for a reason and they should remain closed until The None and his Exemplars are dealt with. "

" I see. So it was you who cut off the use of portals when I was in Somniohm? "

You ask as you look at Izael inquisitively. Izael nods his head respectfully before answering your question.

" Correct. Portals fall under Aatu's domain because it allows traversal in and out of spaces within our universe. When the Valghul killed Aatu, it assumed his powers, hence why time froze the way it did when you were in the cafe. The Valghul was only able to use Aatu's power when it was in our universe, but the moment you kicked it through the portal into another universe, it lost the ability to do so. Ultimately, when you and Tom defeated the Valghul, Aatu's powers were lost and there were no others in our universe to claim Aatu's domain over space. Since the powers and responsibility that come with Aatu's domain cannot simply be discarded, the next eldest sibling in our pantheon assumed his powers. That is, until Aatu returned and reclaimed the powers that belonged to him. "

You put your hand on your chin, thinking about Izael's explanation.

" I see... Yeah, I completely understand why you closed them. The thought of those Exemplars going to Havnahm and killing Mimi's parents was a serious concern of mine before I realized that the portals were closed. "
