Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 59: Are You My Mother?
The next day, Rivana stared at herself in the mirror. She wore a sleek, tailored suit that made her look both classy and casual. The dark fabric hugged her curves perfectly, and the white blouse underneath added a touch of elegance. Azrael had an urgent meeting and hadn’t returned home since the previous evening, leaving Rivana to spend the night reading through the letter.
She picked up the letter from the dressing table and read it again, her eyes fixing on the lines: 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
[They didn’t treat you well so don’t go easy on them. Remember what all you went through in Faye mansion, what all I knew but still ignored when I was alive. They don’t deserve your kindness, not your mother.]
Her mind was a mush of conflicting emotions. The Emmerich Faye she knew was a cold, merciless man, one who didn’t bother if she existed or not. But the one in this letter was a completely different person, a father she had hoped to have while growing up. He was taking her side, caring for her, and encouraging her to stand up against her bullies.
"Did someone else write this letter?" Rivana couldn’t help but wonder. But the unmistakable handwriting washed away such doubts.
She sighed, unable to wrap her head around it. The only plausible explanation for his behavior was that he was trying to protect her in the shadows. He knew if they had gotten close, if he took her side, whoever murdered him would have attacked her too. So, instead, he decided to play the cold, distant father role so his murderers would discard her as someone insignificant in his life.
Thinking about it gave her a headache again. But she couldn’t sit quietly and forget everything. This seemed like another god-sent opportunity to get back at the people who were equal culprits in his death.
Rivana called Leonora and discussed a brief plan for their day. Once she was done, she looked for Azrael’s number and clicked on the "Husband" contact—the name he had shamelessly already saved in her phone before giving it to her.
[I am going to Faye Mansion. And later to the Faye groups.]
After sending the text, she added another one:
[If you can wrap it up early, let’s have dinner together.]
The message remained unread. She sighed and placed her phone in her purse. Dynar Industries was bigger than Faye Group, and she couldn’t imagine the stress he had to go through every day to manage it.
She walked downstairs where Ashley was back on duty again. They left the house, and the chauffeur drove them to the Faye Mansion. Leonora had already arrived, as her condo was nearer than Dynar Mansion, which was on the outskirts.
Clinging to her best friend’s arm, Leonora asked with a grin, "All set to break their heads?"
Rivana smiled and asked in return, "Are you?"
"Oh, hell yes!" Leonora replied, her eyes burning with mischief. She was on a long holiday now that she had finished all the projects and main fashion shows, having all the time in the world to tag along with her best friend.
They walked inside the mansion and saw the staff moving things out of the house. Mallory was overseeing them, with Amerie standing right behind her. They seemed replicas of each other, both women shamelessly having gotten into the family for power and wealth.
Mallory noticed Rivana and grunted out loud, "Why are you here?"
Rivana crossed her arms and questioned back, "I should be asking that question."
"Who are you to ask that?" Mallory replied haughtily. Pointing at the door, she demanded, "Get out before I lose my patience and kick you out."
Leonora scoffed at her arrogance. She now understood why Emmerich despised his biological mother so much. Mallory had the thickest skin and was utterly shameless—a woman who lived off others’ fortunes without a hint of guilt.
Rivana ignored her and looked around, searching for the butler. When she didn’t find him, she stopped a maid who was carrying books. Taking the books from her hand, she ordered, "Go, get Butler Chase."
When the maid hesitated, Rivana narrowed her eyes and demanded again, "Didn’t you hear me?" The maid bowed and immediately rushed to the study where the butler was busy making sure his master’s things were handled with care.
Rivana looked at the books and frowned. "These belonged to him! Are you throwing them away?" she growled at her mother.
"Well, he is not here anymore to read them. It’s better if we sell and make cash out of it," Mallory answered nonchalantly, making Leonora scoff. This woman was sicker than anyone in this family.
Before Rivana could bash her, the butler hurried outside.
"Young Miss," he bowed to Rivana, while the maid took the books from her hand.
"How could you allow this woman to step inside the house?" Rivana asked, pointing at Mallory. Glaring at her, she added, "He had thrown her out. Are you disrespecting him by letting her in?"
"No, Miss," the butler shook his head, lowering his eyes in shame. "I would never do that."
"Then throw her out right now," Rivana ordered, her voice echoing in the room. Just then, Gianna and Rafaelo walked down the stairs, informed by a maid that Rivana was here. While Rafaelo scowled, Gianna wondered about her next plans.
"But it was Ms. Amerie’s order," the butler said in a low voice. Amerie had clearly warned that Mallory wouldn’t be going anywhere from today and they should treat her with respect.
Rivana glanced at her mother. Turning to the butler, she added, "Then throw her out too."
Amerie’s mouth dropped in shock while Mallory’s frustration deepened. Rivana had always had a tinge of respect for Amerie, even though she never behaved like a mother. But today, it seemed like it all had crumbled. Gianna snorted out loud, amused by Rivana even more.
Her reaction only reddened Amerie’s face. She lashed out at Rivana, "How can you say that to your mother?"
Rivana crossed her arms, her gaze piercing through Amerie. "Are you even my mother? Considering how you never acted like one, I am doubting if I am really your daughter."
"No, she isn’t," Mallory snapped before Amerie could reply. Glaring at Rivana, she added, "You are not her daughter!"
