Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 60: Repaying In Style -1
Amerie was shocked by Mallory’s outburst and regretted ever bringing her here. She thought Mallory would be of great help, but the old hag was only making it worse.
"So, my suspicion was right," Rivana muttered under her breath. Though there were times in the past when she doubted, she always ignored it, believing Amerie was only sucking up to Rubina because of the accident.
"Why the heck did you not get it?" Amerie had shouted after the accident where Rubina had lost her eyes. "And now I have to pay for your sins," she had wailed, hitting her so hard that the 17-year-old Rivana couldn’t go to school for a week.
Rivana always thought she was helping Rubina to keep herself in the family, knowing her useless daughter would be cast out anytime for her reckless mistakes. But she seemed to be wrong and blinded by her acting.
Amerie nudged Mallory, forcing her to cover her blunder. She gritted her teeth as Rivana’s eyes bore into her, sweat forming on her spine.
"Of course, she isn’t your mother," Mallory repeated loudly. With her head high, she added, "I doubt if someone as kind as her would ever give birth to an evil cursed child like you."
"Now that I think about it, my son’s life collapsed since you came into his life," she added with a scowl.
Rivana didn’t respond and continued staring at the two women. Amerie felt her hands slightly trembling, but she bit her cheek; any sign of fear would create suspicion. She stared back at Rivana with the same animosity she always had thrown at her, trying to maintain her composure.
"Alright. Let’s get the paternity test," Rivana declared in a confident tone. Glancing at Amerie, she added, "It will prove that unfortunately, I carry her blood."
Lenora smiled at her move. Gianna didn’t hold back her smile either, finding Amerie’s reaction satisfactory. Meanwhile, Rafaelo standing beside them just couldn’t understand why she was silent, growing tired of the catfight.
"Enough, Anna!" Amerie snapped at Rivana. "I was letting you vent out since you looked stressed. But not anymore," she added.
When Rivana raised an eyebrow, she continued, "I am your mother whether you like it or not. I gave birth to you, and I regret it to this day."
That had always affected Rivana in the past. When Amerie realized it was not a boy, she immediately wanted to abort the child. But Sussanah, her boss back then, warned her she would report it as it was a crime in their country, forcing Amerie to give birth to her. At least that was what Amerie and everyone else filled her mind with since childhood.
"Let’s confirm it by taking the test," Rivana replied in a calmer tone. "Don’t worry, I will arrange everything. You just need to give your samples," she added.
Amerie tried to argue, but Rivana ignored her. Turning to the butler, Rivana ordered, "Get everything back into his study. It will stay the same." Turning to Mallory, she added, "And no one has the right to change it."
Chase was moved to tears, glad that though she never loved Emmerich, she at least did not disrespect him like how others were trying to in this house. Bowing to her, he immediately went to rearrange the things.
Rivana walked and sat on the couch, Leonora sitting beside her. Amerie and Mallory fumed while Gianna just observed, leaning against a pillar.
After a few minutes, Mathew walked in, wearing a formal suit, followed by his team of attorneys. He greeted Rivana and nodded at Gianna, ignoring everyone else in the room.
"Please take a seat," Rivana asked the team with a polite smile. She then looked at the maid, who understood and went to get refreshments for everyone.
"Good that you are here, lawyer," Mallory, who hadn’t been thrown out yet, said. She crossed her arms and asked, "Quickly make her sign the transfer papers. Either Ruby or Rafaelo will take over the company."
"Ah, this woman is such a wench!" Leonora groaned out loud. Why the heck was she not thrown out yet? The security guards still seemed not aware of the changes in authority.
Mathew ignored her and passed the papers to Rivana. "I got everything you wanted."
Rivana nodded, and just then Rubina walked down, being supported by a maid since she still couldn’t see the world.
Rivana looked through the papers, searching for any signs from the medical reports of Emmerich. It was indeed because of a heart attack, and his treatment in a faraway country was also fully mentioned.
"Let’s donate to the institutes that treated him," Rivana murmured, taking decisions already that made Rafaelo grit his teeth. He wanted to bark, but Gianna stopped him. There were already people fighting their battles, and they just needed to enjoy the fruits, she thought, glancing at Amerie and Mallory.
"Oh, Rivana is finally here," Rubina murmured, walking over. The maid helped her reach out to Amerie and then took a step back. "Good. Quickly transfer the company to brother, sis. You know he deserves it more than us," she added, being the always supportive and kind sister she had been to Rafaelo.
Gianna smiled at her request, and even Rafaelo was moved, but he couldn’t let his sister get humiliated in front of this bitch.
Walking over, he wrapped his hand around Rubina’s shoulder and murmured, "Don’t waste time talking with her, Ruby. We will anyhow get it through the court."
"Court?" Rivana laughed out loud at the joke.
Everyone glared at her, but ignoring it, she glanced at Rafaelo and shook her head. "That’s why you should have concentrated on studies rather than drugs in college, big brother. You wouldn’t have this hard time understanding the will."
"You!" Rafaelo gritted his teeth and was about to bash at her when Rubina stopped him. She took a step forward and said, "Tell me what you want us to do, sis. I am sure you must have something in return to hand over to the company."
Rivana smiled at Rubina’s persistence. Of course, she would stoop to any level just to paint her as evil. She had finally understood it and would give her the satisfaction she desperately wanted. After all, they were family, right?
"See, Ruby is smarter unlike you," Rivana mocked Rafaelo again, who was fuming like a big bull. "She may be blind but not dumb."
Even Rubina was offended by her comment. Gritting her teeth, she asked, "Tell us what you want, sis."
Just then, the maids served everyone drinks. Rivana took a glass and sipped slowly, leaving everyone impatient. Even Mathew and his team glanced at each other, wondering what new trick she wanted to pull.
"Just spit it already," Rafaelo growled.
Rivana raised an eyebrow and actually spit the juice she drank, shocking everyone in the room. It deliberately fell on Rubina’s shoe, staining the white pearls a deep orange.
"Oops, you scared me, brother," she murmured with a pout. Looking at Rubina, she smiled and asked, "Why don’t you lick this clean, sis?"
"How dare you?!" Rafaelo growled, taking a step forward, and even Amerie looked offended.
Rivana blinked innocently and murmured, "It’s bad to waste drinks. I was thinking of giving up if she did it."
She looked at Rubina, who was now looking in her direction, her face flustered, her eyes locking right into hers.
Rafaelo held Rubina’s hand and grumbled, "She won’t be entertaining you. Not even in dreams!" He tried to pull her away, but Rubina didn’t budge.
"I will do it," she murmured, freeing herself from her brother’s hold.
