Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 97: "Come home,"
Luo Shih just glared at the young man sticking to him like glutinous rice. He couldn’t wait to push him away but Hei Xiwen was too much in the act.
Lei Zi who had finally recovered from her fright glared at them with revulsion as she turned to leave.
As she stepped out of the hotel she took out her cell phone and called her contact who helped her pull this off. When the call was picked up she said, "I said I want her paraded in front of the media but you failed to deliver," through her teeth.
The other end of the call was silent for a while before a stern voice she wasn’t expecting to hear spoke. It was the voice of her grandfather.
Her steps stalled before she came to a halt her fingers holding her cell phone trembling. Her grandfather was retired but he was still an intimidating presence with a commanding physical appearance. He had a reputation for being ruthless or uncompromising.
"Your tail has grown big Ah-Zi. You took things too far," he said and her muscles tensed up, her heart beating fast.
She dared not utter a word otherwise things would only get worse for her. "Come home," he said before the call was hung up.
She released her caught breath as she staggered forward. One of the men helped her steady her feet.
"Ma’am, are you okay?" he asked and she nodded her head her face drained of all colour.
The armed officers outside the hotel had already left but Luo Shih’s security detail was still parked outside and didn’t give them trouble. They let them pass like the conflict earlier hadn’t happened. She entered the third car her eyes wide open, like her world was crumbling around her. With a bang, the car door closed and the motorcade drove off.
Luo Shih glanced at the manager of her hotel while handing back the tablet. "Send the bill to them... oh, and um get me a bottle of Macallan 50, please. I need it at this point," she instructed and the manager left in a hurry.
As soon as the manager left, Hei Xiwen asked, "Are you sure you should be drinking while carrying our child?"
Luo Shih laughed softly as she turned to leave. She vowed to have one child in this life. That one kid almost wrecked her body and she didn’t dare have another one.
She entered her office in the hotel and behind her Hei Xiwen followed. She sat in her seat and it swerved a little as she said, "If you want kids then go find someone else. I am a not interested."
Hei Xiwen would love to have a miniature version of the two of them but even he knew it was impossible. Luo Shih would never allow that.
"There are plenty of girls who would love to be pregnant by the wolf of shadow street," she said with a sneer.
Hei Xiwen wanted her for her and didn’t care whether they get a child or not. It would be nice to have one but it wasn’t necessary.
He took off his suit jacket and tossed it on the leather sofa before walking towards her in a slow, relaxed manner.
When he reached her he knelt before her hugging her waist. "I told you before that I don’t care about that. All I want is you," he said with his head buried in her abdomen.
Luo Shih wanted to push him away but when she gazed at that head of hair, she couldn’t bring herself to. She raked her fingers through his hair. It wasn’t as soft as Luo Muchen’s but it was really nice to touch.
Hei Xiwen raised his head and rested his chin on her belly. With an anxious look in his eyes, he asked, "How did you get them to leave? "
Luo Shih ran her fingers through his hair while showing a rare sweet smile.
"They need me and they can’t afford to get on my bad side... yet," she replied before picking up her cell phone.
She called her son who was already safely back home. Luo Muchen picked up in a hurry and asked, "Are you okay?"
"I am fine. What did they want from you?" she asked and Luo Muchen glanced at the cell phone message he hadn’t responded to yet while replying,
"They wanted me to sign off my rights to inherit Lee group... so I forced him to sever blood ties."
"Are you okay with it?" she asked as it was not her decision to make. She might have preferred for him to stay clear of the Lee family but he had his birthright and it was all up to him.
"I am more than fine. See you when you get home," he replied his fingers caressing the display screen.
"I love you," she said before hanging up the call.
The mother and son were greatly relieved but Lei Zi was learning the consequences of her actions.
When she arrived at the family home, the grounds had several children running around with kites. It seemed her grandfather was running a charity event for the children at the orphanage in his name.
Lei Zi entered her grandfather’s office and found the old man standing by the window watching the children running around with innocent smiles on their faces.
She stood there lowering her sense of presence greatly. Despite this her legs were shaking and her complexion was as pale as a ghost.
The family patriarch called out, "Ah-Zi," and Lei Zi’s body quivered her nose sour.
She stepped forward the fear in her eyes apparent. Lei Zi stopped a short distance from him thinking it was safe but her eyes suddenly turned dark as a sharp stinging pain came from her cheek. She stumbled back before her body hit the ground with a thud.
A man standing on the other side of the door grimaced when he heard the sound of his daughter falling to the ground. He knew interfering would only make it worse for her so he had no choice but to stay out of it. This was the only way.
After five minutes, Lei Zi who had fainted was carried out of the office. Father Lei could only hopelessly watch as she was carried away. Once they were gone he was called into the office.
Memories of his father beating him with a wooden ruler in this office when he failed to deliver surfaced. He clenched his fist till his knuckles turned white. Releasing his caught breath he knelt before his father and said, "I didn’t educate her well enough."
The old man curled his lips while replying, "Indeed. This mess she has created will expose us."
Father Lei raised his head abruptly and asked, "Then what do we do?"
The patriarch turned around with all his imposing manner and said, "We eliminate the problem or at least bring them under our control."
Father Lei wanted to say something but his words were caught in his throat and he couldn’t utter a word.
