Chapter 621: Marriage proposals

"Well... I have a proposal for you. One that would be beneficial for the both of us," he said as he transferred documents.

Qie Ranzhe took his tablet from his desk and a ding sound echoed. He opened the email and saw the contract the man had drafted.

He pursed his lips noticing that page summarised all the benefits. The contract seemed more favourable to GameX.

It was a defence contract with a company he was all too familiar with. The idea that Lee actually thought that he would get into business with the same people who sponsored Leong Jinn was laughable. They wanted to use GameX to make military AI robots and with Wen Qinxi now working on getting a fully autonomous AI body for Jolie it was ideal.

"Not interested," he said with no second thought. If the price wasn’t written down it must be difficult to mention.

"President Qie, we are all businessmen here. You can’t run a business on personal feelings. This is especially beneficial to the both of us," he said and Qie Ranzhe suddenly understood.

He impatiently tapped the armrest with his index finger but before he could say it President Lee continued saying,

"My daughter has known your son for a very long time... She has had him in her heart ever since they met so wouldn’t it be beneficial to unite our two families? This contract is clearly beneficial to the both of us."

Qie Ranzhe was about to speak when he heard the intercom ringing again. He asked Mittens to answer it as he was too far from his desk to answer it.

Mittens wasn’t just Jolie’s AI companion but Qie Ranzhe’s AI assistant but his functions weren’t only limited to that. It was just like Jolie but the game for Mittens was just a secondary function.

"President Qie, you have a visitor," said the secretary but before she could say who it was Qie Ranzhe replied,

"Let him in." That’s because he had checked his phone just now and thought that it was about time for Wen Qinxi to come.

To his surprise, he found that it was Luo Shih. It seemed he should have checked his horoscope today before he left the house.

The mahogany door swung open, and President Shih stepped into the opulent office. The room exuded power, with floor-to-ceiling windows revealing a panoramic view of the city skyline. Luo Shih’s heels clicked against the polished marble floor, each step echoing through President Lee’s heart.

She was far from the naive young woman she was when they first met. Naive wasn’t the right word. She was just smitten by him but now she was a force to be reckoned with—a woman who commanded respect without uttering a word.

Luo Shih’s expression was cold, her almond-shaped eyes assessing the room. Her lips painted a deep crimson, curved into a subtle smile that sent shivers down President Lee’s spine.

She wore a tailored charcoal-grey pencil skirt that hugged her curves, accentuating her confidence. The skirt ended just above her knees, revealing toned calves that seemed to defy gravity.

But it was her stilettos that gripped President Lee’s attention. Six inches of sleek black leather elongated her legs and added an air of authority. With every step, she left an indelible mark on his heart, imprinting her presence into the very fabric of the room.

Her hair, a cascade of glossy obsidian, bounced as she moved. It framed her face, emphasizing high cheekbones and a jawline that could cut glass. The scent of her perfume—subtle, yet intoxicating—lingered in the air, drawing President Lee back to their first night together.

He cleared his throat, momentarily forgetting his professional demeanour. "Luo Shih," he began, his voice betraying a hint of awe, "what a pleasant surprise... What are you doing here?"

President Lee," Shih drawled, her voice as sharp as the edge of a diamond. "Is this your office? Since it isn’t then you don’t have a right to question me."

President Lee’s jaw tightened. She was a viper that was ready to strike him every moment they met. He regretted it. He wished he had never let go of her. They could have had a blissful marriage. He would come back to a peaceful home every night and Luo Shih would treat him with respect, unlike his wife now.

"Is there something urgent?" asked Qie Ranzhe wondering why she was here. They had no business together apart from the kids.

Her eyes flickered with anger as she stared at her ex. "Well, imagine my face when I heard that my son’s boyfriend is going to get engaged to his estranged sister. I had to rush over and make a counteroffer," she said as she sat down.

She placed her handbag on the floor. Her hand hovered over the handbag. She unclasped it, revealing a slim tablet. The screen illuminated her face with an unreadable expression.

"Ah-Shih!" President Lee exclaimed and Qie Ranzhe’s jaw tightened while glaring at him.

"I am sure President Qie would appreciate what I have to offer. It will be a beneficial marriage alliance," she said, her fingers dancing across the touchscreen.

Luo Muchen’s tablet made a dinging sound and his brow arched. He didn’t understand what these two people were doing. He would never sell his child for benefits. Betrothal gifts and dowry were a given but this wasn’t something they did in their family. Plenty of families married for benefits but he wanted his child to be happy.

He schemed through the document Luo Shih sent to him. She was quite generous but it didn’t matter. Qie Ranzhe was about to kick them both out of his office when the door suddenly opened. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Wen Qinxi had taken longer to finish what he was doing thus he was a little late. But who would have thought it would be so lively? His steps paused and he said,

"I- I can come back." But as he turned to leave Qie Ranzhe’s voice sliced through the air like a sudden thaw after a long winter. "Baby, wait."

Everyone, "..."

Wasn’t he a frozen iceberg just now? Qie Ranzhe got up his steps seeming calm but if one looked closely hus steps were brisk. His tailored suit clung to his frame, emphasizing the strength in his shoulders.
