Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 622: "He is busy,"
"They are just leaving," he said grabbing hold of his lover’s wrist.
President Lee, "..."
Luo Shih wasn’t surprised. She had already achieved her goal so she didn’t mind.
She picked up her handbag and stood up. "Xi-ge, let’s meet up for milk tea later," she said her fingers brushing against Wen Qinxi’s shoulder. It was an innocent gesture but Qie Ranzhe didn’t appreciate it. He pulled him away and said, "He is busy."
Luo Shih, "..."
Wen Qinxi, "..."
President Lee followed after Luo Shih out of the office his expression difficult to discern. He had heard that this pair of husbands were affectionate and he had even made fun of them in private several times.
He remembered laughing with his friends about what was there to enjoy between two men when a man wasn’t soft and delicate but now he found that he was envious.
Right before the elevator doors slid shut he rushed in and stood beside Luo Shih clutching his briefcase tightly till his knuckles turned white.
She stood in the middle of the elevator her expression a frosty mask. The air between them crackled with unresolved tension.
"Ah-Shih," he began, his voice echoing in the confined space. "Can’t you give me a chance? I will divorce and we can get back what we lost."
She didn’t look at him, her gaze fixed on the descending numbers. She snorted coldly. If there was anyone who was delusional it would be this man.
He had been so delusional over the years thinking he was the emperor and he could make her his concubine. Actually no, he wanted to make her his mistress that he could come and visit once in a while. She thought he was still as stupid and naive as before.
Seeing her reaction he panicked. He licked his lips and moved closer before saying, "I know you have me in your heart. You never remarried and never had a serious relationship ever... Even that delinquent you hook up with you didn’t even make him your boyfriend. I was wrong. I know that now."
"President Lee you think too highly of yourself," her tone was as sharp as the steel cables that held the elevator. "Do you think I am one of the naive young women that you keep in the Lux condos downtown? They might look like me but they are not me?"
The silence stretched, heavy and suffocating. President Lee’s mind raced. He just didn’t think she would find out about that. He had been so careful and not even his wife knew about it. "Ah-Shih—," he called out her name his eyes red but she raised her hand shutting him up.
"Don’t fuck with my son’s relationship. If you continue with this fuss I will bankrupt you and then kill you," she said the threat in her tone apparent.
As the elevator reached the underground parking, she stepped out, her heels clicking on the concrete floor. He followed after her to admonish her for agreeing to this.
Wouldn’t the late Chairman Luo be disappointed that his grandson was marrying a man? He had no idea that her father never cared about such things. Chairman Luo’s widowed mother was in a discreet relationship with her female assistant. It was an open secret in the house but no one ever spoke of it. If the laws were allowed back then they would have been married.
Just as he caught up with her he saw that gangster Hei Xiwen. He was much taller than when he last saw him. He was impeccably dressed and radiating possessiveness. President Lee’s jaw clenched. "Just like a loyal lap dog, you came running. She will never make you her husband!" he yelled in provocation.
Luo Shih glanced at her Hei Xiwen and the wolf-dog was seething with anger. He glared coldly at President Lee and with a sudden, firm grasp, his hand enveloped her waist, pulling her closer to him. The warmth of his touch sent shivers down her spine, contrasting with the coolness of the air around them. His other hand gently cradled her cheek, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her breath catch in her throat.
"You!" yelled President Lee and she turned her head slightly her eyes fierce. Displeased Hei Xiwen gently pinched her chin and made her look at him.
At that moment, his actions were possessive yet tender, a mix of raw desire and deep affection that left her feeling both vulnerable and safe in his embrace.
As his lips met hers in a passionate kiss, the world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them lost in the electric connection that sparked between them. Each kiss was a silent promise of love and devotion, a moment frozen in time amid the bustling city above them.
Seeing how passionate that kiss was President Lee saw red. In all the years he had known Luo Shih he had never seen her publicly showcase her affection for anyone. She had no scandal and was an extremely private person. She never wanted her son to know who she was hooking up with. How different was this from going public? She was basically publicising it.
Jealousy surged, drowning reason. He clenched his fist and charged forward, his polished shoes skidding on the oil-slicked floor. But before he could reach them, a wall of black-suited men materialized, blocking his path. Their faces were stoic, their movements precise. They were no ordinary security guards but Hei Xiwen’s enforcers.
"Step back, President Lee," one of them said, his voice devoid of emotion. "This is none of your business."
With no hesitation, they surrounded him, overpowering him with a brutal onslaught of punches and kicks. As he lay on the cold concrete, bruised and defeated, the image of Luo Shih kissing someone else burned into his mind, fueling a storm of emotions within him.
His breaths came in ragged bursts. His suit was crumpled, his tie askew. He struggled against their iron grip, but they held him firm. Blood trickled from his split lip, and he tasted the metallic tang of defeat.
And then, Hei Xiwen stepped forward his towering figure imposing. His eyes bore into the man’s soul, assessing, calculating.
