Chapter 40: You are as nosy as I am babe

Meanwhile, Qie Xieling was sitting beside Wen Qinxi seeming very happy to be back home. While he was chatting it up with his dad he noticed that his dad had some red marks and some were purple. His eyes widened as he reached over to touch one of them.

"Dad, are there mosquitoes again or are you having an allergic reaction? Look," he said opening the zip of his school bag and taking out a carefully protected red pouch with gold threads.

"I got you a talisman for good health," said Qie Xieling while presenting it to Wen Qinxi.

Wen Qinxi accepted it as he glanced at the real mosquito in this house. Qie Ranzhe couldn’t hold back his laugh that he had to walk away. Sounds of his suppressed laughter came through the kitchen door but Qie Xieling didn’t pay it heed.

He was eager to hear his dad praise him for doing a good job.

"Thank you, Lin Lin. Your dad is fine and this will go away in a couple of days," he replied and Qie Xieling felt more at ease.

He heard that his dad was too tired to come and pick him up and it was because of this that he was worried. When he arrived home he saw that his dad was more energetic and only had a few mosquito bites.

Qie Ranzhe appeared at the door of the kitchen with a slight smile at the corner of his lips as he watched the pair of father and son.

"Lin Lin, I also have mosquito bites too and I even have deep scratch marks. It seems like some mosquitoes got carried away last night and had a party on my back," he said before raising the rim of the mug in his hand to his lips concealing that mischievous smile.

Wen Qinxi glared at him as he picked up a couch cushion and flung it towards him. The throw was perfect and the cushion would surely hit its target but the target was fast enough. He caught the cushion and threw it back at Wen Qinxi.

Unlike Qie Ranzhe though Wen Qinxi couldn’t catch it and it hit him squarely in the face. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Wen Qinxi, "...."

Qie Ranzhe, "Damn!"

Wen Qinxi got up hastily and with the cushion in hand to defend his honour. "You little fu-," he said only for Qie Ranzhe to cut him off saying,

"Language babe."

It was then Wen Qinxi realised there was a copycat in the room who repeated every swear word he had ever said.

Qie Xieling couldn’t help but chuckle watching his parents tussle humorously. It was obvious his father was letting his dad off easily.

After being hit thrice with the couch cushion, Qie Ranzhe locked Wen Qinxi’s arms by crossing them over each other on Wen Qinxi’s chest and not allowing him to separate them.

Wen Qinxi breathed heavily while saying, "Get off of me," the smile in his eyes not to be trusted.

Qie Ranzhe pressed his lower back against the couch and said, "I will let you go if you say you love me."

Wen Qinxi, "..."

"Then we will be here all day Ran-ge," he said only for him to change his mind quickly. That’s because Qie Ranzhe was leaning close to him for a kiss.

With his head tilted back to dodge he said, "Fine fine fine. I love you. I love you so much."

Qie Ranzhe loved hearing this. He unexpectedly picked him up and Wen Qinxi wrapped his arms around Qie Ranzhe’s neck.

Qie Ranzhe placed him on the couch and Qie Xieling also wanted to be carried. "Me too. I want to be carried pa," he said raising his arms and Qie Ranzhe obliged him. He carried him on his back and as though riding a horse Qie Xieling kept giving instructions. He applied gentle inward pressure with his legs to cue the horse to go forward.

Qie Ranzhe, "..."

"Faster Pa," he yelled as Wen Qinxi took a video of them. Having had enough Qie Ranzhe placed him on the couch and sat down. With Qie Xieling in the middle of them, the pair listened to his camping stories that were quite interesting.

Qie Ranzhe took out his cell phone and unlocked it before typing something into a chat interface. Seconds later Wen Qinxi’s cell phone made a soft dinging sound. He took out his cell phone and unlocked it.

Cutehusband: Ask him about sharing a tent with Luo Muchen.

Cutehusband: He seems to be hiding something.

Wen Qinxi, "..."

RanWife: He deserves some privacy and tiny little secrets.

After sending this response Wen Qinxi glanced at Qie Ranzhe who was also looking at him.

Cutehusband: You of all people never respect his privacy.

Cutehusband: You are as nosy as I am babe.

Wen Qinxi, "..."

This was true. There were times when he checked Qie Xieling’s things to make sure he wasn’t keeping something to prank Luo Muchen at school. He confiscated firecrackers, a fake snake and three varieties of fart spray. The kid was really coming after Luo Muchen at that time with heavy ammo.

"Fine," mouthed Wen Qinxi and cleared his throat before asking,

"Lin Lin, I hear you shared a tent with Luo Muchen. How did it go?"

Qie Xieling, "..."

He couldn’t understand why these two cared so much about who shared a tent with him. "It was good. He kept to himself and so did I," said Qie Xieling but Qie Ranzhe wasn’t convinced.

He knew that his son’s impression of Luo Muchen had improved significantly. He no longer wore a contemptuous smile when he talked about Luo Muchen. This was bad, very very bad.

"You distance yourself from him in the future. That kid gives me this terrible vibe," said Qie Ranzhe slandering Luo Muchen with no sense of guilt in the slightest.

Qie Xieling who knew the deal he had made with Luo Muchen to be deskmates next year lowered his head and agreed immediately. Wait until his father found out that the black-bellied Luo Muchen had already set a trap for the cute little hamster and it was already too late to save him.
