Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets-Chapter 71 - Taxes Must Be Paid
Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Taxes Must Be Paid!
Chapter 71 -71: Taxes Must Be Paid!
The high bid of 2,000 US dollars scared off a bunch of people, and the main competitors for Sean Knight were two groups.
One group was the three brothers from Central Asia, Sean couldn’t tell where exactly they were from, but Jason later whispered to him that the three brothers were Jewish.
The other was a single person, a woman in her thirties, with a less voluptuous figure than Diana Smith, average looks, short hair, and a very capable appearance. She glanced at Sean from time to time.
Sean guessed that she was a newcomer.
The woman bid cautiously:
“2,300 US dollars!”
The trio of Jewish brothers were more bold, raising their hands directly:
“3,000 US dollars!”
Sean calmly raised his hand to bid:
“3,500 US dollars.”
The woman didn’t want to give up:
“3,600 US dollars!”
With the auctioneer’s repeated prompting, the price quickly rose to 6,800 US dollars, at which point the woman gave up.
The Jewish brothers were still persisting, but their price increases had become much smaller:
“7,000 US dollars!”
Sean was still calmly increasing his bid, thinking that even if the price went over 20,000 dollars, there was still room for profit on these items.
Soon, the two were chasing each other, and the price rose to 12,000 US dollars. The Jewish brothers raised their hands one last time:
“12,500 US dollars!”
Sean followed immediately after:
“13,000 US dollars!”
The auctioneer was quite excited, since although only two people were bidding, the current auction price was already far higher than expected, which meant his commission would greatly increase as well.
So the auctioneer started to look at Sean with eager eyes!
Unfortunately for the Jewish brothers, they saw that Sean was not giving up, so they immediately stopped bidding. The eldest brother gestured that he would no longer participate in the auction.
“13,000 US dollars, 13,000 US dollars, the distinguished treasure hunter from China bids 13,000 US dollars! Any more bids? Any more? Going once for 13,000 dollars, going twice for 13,000 dollars, and going thrice! Congratulations to Sean for successfully winning this container!”
With the auctioneer finishing his long speech, the container finally belonged to Sean.
Other treasure hunters watched Sean pay, some with envy, some with jealousy, and some believing that this time Sean would surely stumble.
The eldest Jewish brother came over and reached out to Sean:
“Sean, hello, my name is Ralph Turner, nice to meet you! We just joined the Treasure Hunters team, and we hope to become the best in this business like you!”
Sean smiled and shook hands with the brothers, saying:
“I can tell you have a good eye, you guys will be successful!”
The brothers happily went to check out the third container.
Jason whispered:
“These three guys are quite formidable.”
Sean felt the same way, but it didn’t have much of an impact on him.
He and Jason removed the huge dashboard blocking their view, revealing the objects and boxes behind it.
Those watching the excitement couldn’t help but exclaim.
The two nitrogen cylinders were very eye-catching.
After moving the boxes and nitrogen cylinders out, the remaining machine is too heavy and simply left in place.
Upon opening the box, Sean was fine, but Jason couldn’t help but exclaim:
“Oh, man! How could this thing be here? Is it really alright?”
There were two sets of what looked like very complete, at least 80% new spacesuits in the box!
This really was a set of astronaut equipment!
It was probably from a space shuttle, or even a spacecraft or space station!
Sean Knight also feigned surprise then started taking photos. Among the people he knew, no one could take on this stuff.
After Mr. John saw the photos, he called voluntarily:
“Sean, you really opened my eyes this time! I’ve been at the port for decades, and I’ve seen containers with a dozen dead people inside, but I’ve never seen one with astronaut equipment!”
With Mr. John so surprised, Sean felt it was worth it, and he laughed and said:
“So, John, do you know anyone who’d buy these things? I spent more than 10,000 US dollars on this junk, and I don’t want them to end up in the trash can!”
“No, no, no, how could this be junk?” Mr. John laughed, “These are treasures, at least in the eyes of many people, these are treasures! Wait a moment, I’ll make a phone call, and someone will contact you!”
Sure enough, a call came in a little while later. The other party was in a hurry and very formal:
“Sean, hello, my name is Martin. John told me that you have a batch of astronaut equipment, right? Where are you now?”
Sean reported the name of the freight yard.
“Wait for me!”
After saying that, Martin hung up the phone. Sean felt that this Martin had a military style, no extra words, no exaggeration, and it seemed that this deal should be very simple.
Half an hour later, a big van drove into the freight yard. At this point, only Sean and Jason Caldwell were left in the yard, and everyone else had left after packing up.
A slightly balding middle-aged white person got out of the passenger seat, looking quite energetic, and reached out to Sean:
“Sean, hello, I’m Martin. Is this the stuff?”
Without waiting for Sean’s answer, Martin had already let go and put on gloves to start checking the items.
“Not bad… this is the instrument panel of a space shuttle… yeah, these… these are standard spacesuits from the beginning of this century, but they can still be used…”
Martin was very professional, checking one by one, even including the almost-abandoned-looking engine-like thing in the container.
After the inspection, Martin walked back to Sean and said:
“I want to buy these items. The specific offer is as follows: The space shuttle instrument panel for 7,000 US dollars, each spacesuit for 6,000 US dollars, two nitrogen cylinders for 6,500 US dollars each, and the somewhat problematic power equipment for 15,000 US dollars, a total of 47,000 US dollars. What do you think?”
Sean laughed and said:
“I think the price is fair. Deal!”
Cost 13,000, transaction price 47,000, net earnings of 34,000 US dollars.
This business was really profitable!
Helping Martin load the items onto the truck and drive away, Jason asked Sean:
“Bosuns, are we still continuing today?”
“No.” Sean shook his head and took out 1,000 US dollars to give to Jason: “Go rent a big van, and take your brothers with me to the old American house tomorrow.”
Jason declined:
“Bosuns, this is too much.”
“The rest is your salary for today.” Sean laughed, “Save some, and rent a bigger place to live later. It’s not convenient for the four of you to squeeze in a container.”
Jason grinned and accepted the money.
Sean drove away. He made 32,000 in the morning and 34,000 in the afternoon. A few more like this, and his cash would be back up to 200,000.
However, Sean thought it was about a month and time for tax payment.
Seeing that it was still early, Sean called Paul Walker and asked Mr. John for some advice before going to pay taxes.
After paying the taxes, he lost tens of thousands of dollars at once, and Sean could only sigh that if you want to make money fast, you have to have the American tax system!
You don’t even need to do anything, and a considerable part of the money you earn goes to them!
