Chapter 72 -72: Exploring Old American Houses!

When Sean Knight stood outside the university gate with a bouquet of flowers, leaning against his car waiting for Joanna Davis, he didn’t pay much attention to the man in the nearby luxury car who let out a snicker.

Sean glanced at him but said nothing.

This man probably thought Sean’s car and clothes were both very low-class, hence the laughter.

Sean couldn’t be bothered with such a superficial person. He had just called Joanna and knew she would be out soon.

Shortly after, Joanna came out with two other girls. Upon seeing Sean, she excitedly ran over to him.

Out of the corner of his eye, Sean noticed the other girl go to the man with the luxury car, laughing.

By Sean’s aesthetic standards, that girl’s looks were a little subpar compared to Joanna’s.

Joanna was quite beautiful, scoring at least a 9 in Sean’s book and could only be roughly compared to Monica Brown.

Surprised and delighted to receive the roses, Joanna hugged Sean and then they both got into the car.

Sean noticed the envy and confusion in the eyes of the man driving the luxury car.

As the car started, Joanna asked Sean:

“Dear, where are we going?”

Sean replied while driving:

“I want to go to the shopping center first to buy something, then have dinner, and after that, we’ll go to a hotel!”

Upon hearing Sean’s words, Joanna’s face turned slightly red, but she vigorously nodded her head in agreement.

The two went to a nearby shopping center, where Sean tried to buy clothes for Joanna, but she refused. Instead, she picked out a suit and a pair of leather shoes for him.

Sean’s demeanor changed as soon as he changed his clothes. Joanna, looking at him with admiration, was full of love that seemed ready to spill out of her eyes.

The couple went to a nearby star hotel, planning to book a room first and then go out to eat.

Upon entering the room, Sean took a box out of his pocket and shyly said:

“This is a gift for you. I’m not good at picking things, so I don’t know if you’ll like it or not…”

Joanna excitedly opened the box and found a platinum sapphire necklace inside. Happily, she exclaimed:

“I love it, I really love it!”

Sean clumsily helped her put it on. Joanna was very happy, admiring herself in the mirror, and could not resist embracing Sean and starting to kiss him.

When their passion subsided, they exchanged smiles and went out for dinner.

Although not particular fans of Western food, they catered to Joanna’s tastes and at least ate their fill.

After eating and walking around, the two went back to their hotel room and continued where they left off.

Joanna, with her seductive eyes, lay on the bed, immobile and unwilling to move.

She couldn’t understand how an Asian man, who her classmates thought was inferior, could perform so well in bed. Maybe even too well?

The next day, the two went downstairs for breakfast, refreshed and energized.

Sean dropped Joanna off at the school gate, where they once again encountered the man with the luxury car.

Seeing the radiant Joanna and the spirited Sean, the man with a pair of dark circles under his eyes felt like crying.

Sean then drove to meet up with Jason Caldwell, loaded some tools into the car, and the four people headed to the address provided by Monica Brown.

This was a large manor covering hundreds of acres; from the outside, there were ranches, farmland, lush residential areas, and many seemingly ancient trees.

Driving into the manor, Sean was surprised to see Monica and Emily Taylor there as well.

Emily even winked at him smugly.

The manor’s owner was a white-haired old white man who was talking and laughing with Monica when Sean entered.

Monica introduced the two, and the old man’s name was George Thomas.

“Sean, I heard you are a container treasure hunter, actually, we are in the same line of work.” George was very talkative, he smiled and said, “I was a treasure hunter when I was young. I dreamed of finding pirate treasure ──”

“You must have found one.” Sean Knight said with a smile.

“How did you know?” George asked with a smile.

“I guess you bought this manor by selling the treasure.”

George shook his head and said:

“No, no, I didn’t find any treasure. To tell you the truth, I bought this manor at that time because it was rumored that there was treasure left by a general during the civil war.”

Sean raised his eyebrows.

When George mentioned the Civil War, it must be the American Civil War that Sean had learned from history books.

“It’s a pity that I haven’t found any treasure for 30 years. Now I am going to Los Angeles to reunite with my son, so I have to sell this place.”

George sounded a little bit regretful, but soon he cheered up, smiling and saying, “So I hope you can gain something today, so even if the things I get are not mine, I will be relieved.”

Upon hearing this, Sean thoughtfully asked:

“How do we split the profits if we really find the treasure?”

George laughed:

“If you do find it, give me 20% as rent, of course, I want the actual item as a souvenir.”

Then, George explained to Sean which things in the manor needed to be cleaned up, and which things didn’t need to be moved. After that, he greeted several people and drove away.

Sean and his team had one day to clean up.

After George left, Sean asked Monica Brown with some confusion:

“Aren’t you leaving?”

Monica Brown nodded and said:

“Emily and I are both curious and want to see how you work.”

“Alright, you will be disappointed.” Sean smiled and began to instruct Jason and the others to start working.

In addition to the two-story main building, the manor also had miscellaneous warehouses, grain warehouses, tractor sheds, and ox-stalls.

In the second floor of the main building, only a few warehouses on the first floor needed to be cleaned. According to George, his personal belongings had been moved, the original furniture was left for the buyer, and the debris could only be cleaned as garbage.

All the items in the miscellaneous warehouse were not needed, and the items in the tractor shed were not to be touched.

Sean first took Jason to the main building’s warehouse. The doors were open, and Sean found that there were mostly old tables, chairs, broken furniture, and old-fashioned cabinets inside.

“It’s not worth money, let’s move it out.” Sean said while moving things out, “But after moving it out, check carefully to see if there is any omission.”

After moving out a few old chairs, the space in the warehouse became larger, and Sean began to clean up the old tables. The first two old tables had nothing useful except for some useless debris.

The last old table looked ancient, with a broken leg, almost scrapped.

He pulled out the drawer and found it empty.

This was normal and within Sean’s expectations.

He directly removed the drawer, bent down, and looked inside, finding nothing.

Disappointed, he reassembled the drawer.

Emily Taylor was watching by the side, with a slight smile on her face.

He did the same with the next drawer.

There was still nothing in the drawer.

However, when Sean reassembled the drawer, he accidentally discovered that there was a black-and-white photograph pinned on the inner side with a drawing pin!

Sean curiously took the photo carefully. Would there be any surprises in it?
