Goddess Astoria and Loki exchanged a tense glance. They both refused to back down, which made their guards and servants tense up. Something big was about to happen any second now...

However, a miracle happened all of a sudden.

Goddess Astoria decided to back down and her expression became blank as well. She gave Loki a thoughtful glance before she smiled at him.

"I see. So you are not behind any of this? Then I guess I will take your word for it. I am a little busy, so I will head out now. I hope you decide to stay out of my way in the future as well."

Loki watched with a tense back as his sister finally left. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.

"She is finally gone. Thank god for that...but I still have a weird feeling about all of this. I don’t like how she backed out so easily..."

Astoria was not someone who behaved like this. She was fierce and hot-tempered. She should not have backed down so quickly before she even had a chance to counterattack...

"Ugh, as much as I want to send someone to keep an eye on her, I don’t want anyone to die a meaningless death either. I guess I will see what she is planning for now and interfere when it’s time."

That was what Loki decided. But little did he know that Goddess Astoria had plans of her own.

She knew that she could not interfere right now and use her powers to find her weapon’s soul. But that did not mean she could not lend others her power to search either.

With the demon king so unstable, his control over the world was starting to weaken. That allowed Astoria enough power to be able to interfere in that world without much trouble. And she was going to take advantage of that situation.

’If there is anyone who is desperate enough to use all their power and resources to find my weapon, it is that demon king. So it is only right that I take advantage of the opportunity that is being provided to me.’

Goddess Astoria gathered her power and sent a message to the Saintess. She was going to show humans the first step, and from there, it would all work out.

"Ah, it might not look like it, but it seems like father is on my side in this conflict. In the next war, I will emerge as the only victorious one and claim my throne."

Goddess Astoria could not wait for it all to happen. But before that, she had more work to do.

"Saintess Rosalyne, did you get a reply back from the goddess? Can you hear her?"

People gathered around the saintess to bask in her holy presence. But they soon noticed the sweat on the Saintess’s brow.

Saintess Rosalyne opened her eyes and shook her head.

"I am sorry, but the goddess is currently not responding to my questions. She must be busy and-"

There was a sudden overwhelming feeling swelling inside the saintess that made her clutch her forehead and rub it.

Knowledge began to bubble in her mind and she had a feeling the goddess was providing her guidance. The saintess suddenly knew what she could do to improve the situation.

"The goddess has decided to help us. I can see a way for us to be able to track Shuu’s soul and bring it back. Once we do, Emperor Kaiden will come back to his senses and help us all out."

Rosalyne’s words were met with relief but also dissatisfaction. People did not want to have an unstable person rule them.

"We need to remove Emperor Kaiden as well."

"That’s right! Her chosen or not, the goddess needs to punish him as well for all our sakes..."

People began to complain, and that made the saintess feel a little overwhelmed.

She knew that the people were angry and for a good reason. They no longer wanted to serve an emperor who could flip his switch at any second.

But unfortunately, it did not seem like it was something in their hands.

"I know you all are disappointed and crushed by this news. But the goddess is listening to us. I am sure she has a reason behind this decision as well. Now, I will go and talk with Emperor Kaiden to give him this news."

Saintess Rosalyne announced and everyone watched her getting up and walking toward the emperor’s room.

The one who was the most nervous about this was Rosalyne herself. She knew that she had a decent chance of not coming out of this conversation alive.

But she had to at least try. Everyone’s lives depended on her ability to negotiate this. She could not let everyone down...

The doors opened for her in an ominous way. The darkness inside the room made the saintess feel fear. But she still kept moving, refusing to step back.

"Saintess Rosalyne, what can I help you with? If you are here to tell me to forget Shuu, then I am afraid that I will not be hearing you out-"

"I...am here to offer you my help. I am sure I can track Shuu’s soul and tell you where it went. But only if you agree to help us out in return and save us."

Rosalyne kept her head bowed, but her eyes were fierce. She was telling the emperor that she had no intention of backing out.

Suddenly, Kaiden let out a laugh and he truly looked amused.

"Oh-! So you are going to help me with this? What an amusing and cowardly ambition. But you are right. You do have the goddess’s aura around you, so it is worth considering. I will pause the destruction of this world for 3 days. Get me results by then, and this will all stop."

Rosalyne did not like her odds. But she could do nothing but agree to this ridiculous timeline.

Caelis watched her leave as well, and then he turned to look at Kaiden with a frown.

"You don’t look surprised that the goddess decided to help. Did you anticipate this happening?"
