Akira said without a flicker in her expression, "Most of the time, we harvest their ethereal cores for our survival. But you don't have to feel bad for them since this is the law of survival here. And other than that, you may have lived among humans all this time, but you are more than just a human."

Her words were cold, and it seemed as if she was talking about something normal, making Damien realize that things were bad for humans more than he thought.

Damien said without a change in his expression, "It is not them I am worried about. I am worried if my wives…" Damien didn't even want to finish the sentence.

"I know this is hard. But once I find them, they will be protected," Akira said in a reassuring voice, making Damien feel a bit relieved. Akira realized that Damien loved his wives more than anything seeing how anxious he was. This made her furrow her brows a bit, thinking about the future.

"But so far, you are not feeling any discomfort after coming to this world?" Akira asked as she looked closely at him.

Damien's expression became confused as he asked, "Should I be? Other than the strange numbness in my arm, I feel normal."

However, Damien still felt it surreal to learn that he was half ghoul. He wondered how his wives would take to this news.

"How fascinating…You have an ethereal core, and yet you don't seem to get affected by the nethereal energy around you," Akira felt that this was because of the half-ghoul blood flowing through his veins.

Damien knew what she was talking about since he had already witnessed how humans succumbed to the dark nethereal energy, though the density here wasn't that high.

This was also the reason he was concerned his wives wouldn't be in their best shape because of the nethereal energy being a suppressing factor.

"I can actually use nethereal energy as well," Damien said as jet-black lightning streaks danced across his hand. He grimaced subtly as he felt his injured arm act up upon using his nethereal energy, making him remember that he can't risk using nethereal energy till his arm gets fully healed.

Akira was astonished to see such beautiful streaks of lightning but seeing him grimace with pain made her call out, "Careful! I have only numbed your injured arm to not let you feel any pain, but it isn't healed. It seems you can't use your cultivation till it gets healed. To damage your arm to such an extent…who did this to you?" Akira asked with a sharp expression.

Damien didn't want to feel even more embarrassed by telling someone else that he did this to himself. So he answered in a roundabout way, "It became like this when I tried to fight off an Abominable Fiend."

"You actually fought it off?" Akira asked with a look of disbelief since Damien's cultivation was only at the Heaven Ethereal Realm and Abominable Fiends were apex predators of this world. Even a newborn among them would be no joke.

Damien felt that if he said he managed to kill it, it might shock her, so he again said in a roundabout way, "I just got lucky. I didn't even expect to make it out alive. I fell unconscious soon after."

"Damn right, you got lucky," Luna said with a harrumph. But she couldn't chide him for being so reckless since it was either that or getting killed by that monster.

"Maybe some expert must have scared it off. Whatever it is, I am glad I found you before anything unfortunate could happen," Akira said with a relieved look though looking at his injury, she felt it strange since this didn't seem like an injury an Abominable Fiend could inflict.

As she talked about finding him, Damien asked, "But how come you ended up in the same place as me? You were definitely more powerful than those Daemons. So why did you let them put you in a cage?"

Damien thought that Akira let herself get caught for a reason.

"That is because someone kidnapped my personal disciple and I had got information that she was being held up in the place where you were. So I had to get myself caught to see if she was there, but unfortunately, it seems I had the wrong place," Akira said as she clicked her tongue in frustration.

Damien didn't expect such a situation and wondered why somebody would even dare to kidnap her personal disciple.

"Does the Daemon King have anything to do with this since it was the daemons who dared to put you in a cage as well?"

Akira shook her head as she said, "The Daemons in these parts are not part of the Daemon Horn continent, nor are they really under the control of the Daemon King. Someone like him wouldn't care about what his own kind does in far-off places. So it is up to us to teach a lesson to Daemons around here who try to step over our people. This is why I don't like them as a whole, but there is no other choice but to work with them."

Damien felt that one thing the ghouls and daemons had in common with the humans was that they were not unified. But the question was whether the humans of the Old World were unified or not, considering their circumstances.

As someone who had seen how desperate humans can become, Damien knew that humans were the kind who would put aside their differences and come together whenever their existence was threatened.

*Rumble*

Suddenly, Damien felt as if the earth underneath him shook as he felt multiple powerful auras landing right outside this tower.

Akira was the first to react as she stood up with an irked look, not expecting this.

A man's voice boomed from outside, "Chief Raven, you said you would only meet me if I came personally. So here I am. If you still don't want to grace us with your presence, then I am afraid you would have to reconsider since this involves the life and death of your personal disciple."
