Reborn in the Survival Adventure Game-Chapter 99: Queens Gift
Chapter 99 - 99: Queens Gift
The next morning, the sun peeked over the trees as workers rolled out carts filled with spider parts.
Dorgrim wiped sweat from his forehead and looked at the queen's massive corpse. Her chitin was thick, dark purple, and heavier than any ore they'd mined.
"This stuff is harder than steel," Dorgrim muttered. "We can make armor from her chest plate alone. Maybe shields from her legs."
Borin poked one of the fangs. "Think it's venomous?"
"Hope so," Caelen said. "Venom might be useful."
The entire body was brought to the workshop with help from golems and a few strong villagers. Silk still clung to the corpse. Caelen watched them clean it, but his attention drifted to the glowing crystal in his hand.
[Queen's Core Fragment]
Status: Active
Absorbable: Yes
Skill Possibilities: Spider Silk Manipulation, Web-Sense, Climb Surface, Minor Poison Resistance, Sewing Mastery
"Absorbable, huh..."
Caelen turned the core over slowly. It pulsed faintly like a heartbeat.
"I'll wait," he whispered. "Not yet."
He tucked it into his inventory.
He walked over to the chamber where the egg was kept.
Zira and two elves were there, watching it closely.
"Still sleeping," Zira said softly. "Big, though."
The egg was the size of a barrel, dark and glossy with red veins glowing inside. Every now and then, it pulsed gently.
[Queen Spider Egg]
Hatch Time: 10 Days
Status: Healthy
Taming Available Upon Hatch
Warning: High-Rank Species – Will Become Queen to All Hatchlings
Caelen crouched next to it, resting his hand on the side.
It was warm.
Not scary. Not monstrous.
Just... waiting.
"You sure you want to raise it?" Zira asked.
"Yeah. If we don't, someone else might find another egg someday. Better she's ours."
Zira looked at him. "And if she turns out bad?"
Caelen smiled. "Then I'll scold her."
Zira snorted. "Alright, Dad of Bugs."
Later that day, Caelen took a moment alone to scroll through his system.
Inventory:
• Silk x200
• Extra Silk (Leftovers) x150
• Queen's Core Fragment
• Queen Spider Egg
• Refined Iron x90
• Gold Nugget x30
• Ominite Shards x12
• Ant Chitin x40
His silk stash had grown nicely. They'd harvested every bit from the walls after the fight. Borin and a few young goblins had even climbed up and carefully cut down more.
Caelen tapped on the Queen's Core again.
Absorb to learn spider-related skills.
Options:
• Spider Silk Manipulation (Use silk like a spider)
• Sewing Mastery (Auto-learn sewing basics)
• Web Sense (Detect vibrations in surroundings)
• Climb Surface
• Minor Poison Resistance
He hesitated.
Tempting.
Especially the silk ability. He could produce threads, control them like whips, maybe even swing around if he practiced.
But...
"Not yet," he said again. "Let's see how the egg turns out first."
That night, Caelen brought the silk to the elves' crafting hall.
"I want to try making fabric," he said. "For clothes, armor, maybe even gliders."
One of the elves raised an eyebrow. "You're thinking of flying?"
"Why not?" Caelen grinned.
Dorgrim stood beside him, already sketching designs. "Spider silk's tougher than anything we've worked with. Fire resistant. Flexible. I'll need better needles, though."
"Should we try mixing it with cotton or fur?" Caelen asked.
"Could help," said one of the elf assistants. "Blend for comfort."
Caelen nodded. "Start small. Gloves, belts, cloaks. See what it can do."
[New Skill Available]
Basic Sewing (Locked – No experience)
Requirement: Use a needle or machine to manually craft one piece
He chuckled to himself. "Guess I've gotta earn it the hard way."
The next day, Caelen sat down at a table in the corner of the workshop with a needle, a thin thread of silk, and a piece of leather. His stitches were clumsy at first.
Zira walked in and raised an eyebrow. "You? Sewing?"
"I need to unlock a skill," he muttered, poking his finger for the third time.
She leaned over, smirking. "Want help?"
"No."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
She sat down anyway.
Ten minutes later, Caelen finally made something that looked like a fingerless glove.
[New Skill Acquired!]
Sewing Lv. 1 – Basic threadwork, leather stitching, pattern reading
"Hah!"
He raised the glove proudly.
Zira tilted her head. "That's... cute."
"It's manly."
"It's tiny."
"Shut up."
They both laughed.
In the forge, Dorgrim had already created a prototype spider-armor plate. It shimmered like obsidian and resisted heat well.
"Gonna make a whole suit out of this," he told Garin. "Give it to someone fast. Thin but strong."
"Zira?" Garin suggested.
"Yeah. Or maybe one of the elf scouts."
Caelen overheard and nodded. "Let's do both. If the queen hatches and she's friendly, we might get more silk. I want our guards wearing spider armor."
Over the next few days, the cave was officially sealed off and renamed:
Spider Nest – Cleared
Resource: Silk, Venom, Shell
Status: Safe
Threat Level: None (Queen Defeated)
Signs were posted at the entrance. Dorgrim posted a notice:
"DO NOT TOUCH THE EGG. Especially you, Borin."
Borin ignored it, of course, and peeked at the egg every morning.
"She twitched today," he reported. "Gonna name her Twitchy."
"No," Caelen said. "We're not calling her Twitchy."
The mine kept expanding.
The forge kept crafting.
And inside a warm, glowing room...
The egg pulsed gently.
Nine days left.
