"This son greets his majesty the emperor", said Helios, his voice confident yet in his heart gushed a torrent of trepidations.

As soon as he uttered those words he could feel an immense amount of murderous aura bearing down upon him. The air around him became scarce and heavy, making even breathing an arduous task. Uninhibited killing intent was directed at him, making his hair stand on end.

His heart urged him to give up and pass out , but his mind resolved to persevere.

After all, what sort of king would he become in the future if he would give up so easily?

A few seconds ticked by, and the oppressive aura seemed to grow even thicker, to the point of his knees begging to give away.

Gritting his teeth, Helios summoned his golden finger.

As soon as Helios gave this command, his own aura was unleashed, rivalling that of the emperor himself. The oppressive pressure on him was instantly reduced to a mere tingling on his skin, greatly relieving him and giving him an opportunity to circulate his mana replenish the energy he had consumed thus.

Suddenly, just as instantly his father's aura had bored down upon him, it disappeared into naught. Seeing this, Helios also retracted his own aura.

With a satisfied hum, the emperor said, " At least you have the minimum strength to qualify as my successor and vie with your siblings for the throne. Rise and take a seat."

The rest of the breakfast went smoothly by, chiefly because the emperor did not intend to test Helios any more and also because none of Helios's other siblings were present.
