Chapter 26: The Meeting (Part— 2)

Sharon's POV—

In this world, noble society are divided into two factions— Nobles Faction/Class (NF/NC) and Aristocratic Faction/Class (AF/AC).

Those noble families whose family lines existed even before the formation of the Charatshore Empire, are the members of Aristocratic Class. The rest noble families, whose lineage came to exist after the formation of Nobles Class. Both groups hated each other. AC think they are above NF, and NF think they are more versatile and powerful than AC.

If they continued hating each other then it might have been good for me. But... these two groups made a coalition with each other. They united against my predecessor when she came into power. They believed that she or rather me, is not suitable to be the emperor. They want me to pass my throne to a person of their choice. Not only this but also, they want me to bear the babies for him. If passing the throne is not enough, they also want me to pass the royal bloodline.

The person they want to be the emperor is the protagonist, Kelshin. They would have succeeded in crowning him if, OG was a weak and timid ruler. But she was a very unpredictable and head-strong emperor. So, they settled by making a marriage contract. In other words, Kelshin is my fiancé.

Now, coming back to the present situation. Both the groups are completely silent. As Kelshin is absent from this meeting they are on the backfoot. Honestly, I am kind of unsure about meeting the protagonist. It seems I still need some mental preparation.

Glaring at them, I hissed, "This my office! It's not your bedroom that you can yell at your will. Like I said, you are not allowed to look at my knight with your disgusting gazes."

The man, who voiced his thoughts first, was Duke Glimpiseie. He was one of the biggest supporters of Kelshin. He said, "Your Majesty, I am sure your fiancé, Duke Dimortyil won't like it."

I narrowed my eyes at him. I asked, "Do you think him being my fiancé changes anything?" I am going to fucking cancel the engagement. I will force him to cancel.

"He is your future husband," he replied curtly. I have to really commend his courage.

"Does it matter? He is just a potential suitor. What would happen if I cancel the engagement?"

"You can't," replied Duke Glimpiseie, confidently.

"I can, and I will. I don't care about you, fucking ingrates. You can all just cry and complain. But it won't change anything. Don't forget that you are sitting in front of your ruler," I hissed.

Everyone paled at my words. They know what repercussions they would face, should they go against me.

I continued, "Also, if anyone looks at my personal knight with that kind of look... I would personally rip out their eyes and feed them," I stood up, "I will prepare this year's budget after the foundation festival gets completed," I moved my gaze over everyone, "the meeting is adjourned. Get out of here."

As soon as I finished saying, they scrambled towards the exit door and left the room as if staying any longer would kill them. Only three people stayed even after they heard my words.

Marquis Hamilton walked towards me. He was one of the few people who didn't side with any faction. He said, "Long live, Your Majesty. We have a proposal for you."

"Go ahead," I said. I am kind of interested about their proposal.

"I request Your Majesty to make a faction of hers. If she does, we will support it,"

"Why?" I asked him.

The woman, Count Varilon said, "Both the factions are corrupt to their very cores. We need a new faction to counterattack them."

"Yes, Your Majesty. There is a very messed division of power between them. If this is not enough, they want Duke Dimortyil to be the emperor. No offense, but I think he is kind of shady," said Baron Xavwer.

"Jake! What are you saying about Your Majesty's fiancé?" Marquis Hamilton chastised him.

"No-no, don't chastise him. I am kind of surprised to hear his words. You, all... all three of you... do you think the same too? Answer me, and be honest," I asked them. The three of them nodded in acceptance.

I clapped my hands in approval. Anyone who dislikes the protagonist is a friend of mine. I said, "Good! I like you three. Well, Marquis... be assured. I will think about your proposal."

Bowing their head, three of them left the room. Now that it's over, let's see what Kaerin says. I bet she must be happy.

I turned towards her and saw her eyes was shrouded by her hair. Is she angry? But I defended her. I asked, "What happened? Are you angry with me?"

She asked, "You have a fiancé." What's with this reaction? Don't tell me... does she know Kelshin?

I replied, "Yes."

"Kelshin Dimortyil... he is your fiancé, isn't it?" I gulped and nodded. She whispered something under breath. Then, she shook her head and removed the hair, which covered her eyes.

She continued, "You will cancel it, won't you?"

"Yes, I will. I don't like him at all."

Finally, Kaerin smiled at me. She said, "I am glad, darling~ Please remove him from your life?" Thankfully, Leon has already left the room otherwise, he would have a heart attack.

"I will. Don't worry," I replied her. So, she was only jealous, nothing more. Thank God! There was nothing more. But why do I feel that I am missing something? There was strong hint of hatred when she uttered the protagonist's name. Nah! It has to be my mistake. There is no way she knows about him.
