NTR: Choice Based System-Chapter 232: Array Arts
Space is an element that exists, yet no one in history has fully comprehended it.
Even the greatest array masters only grasped a minuscule fraction—00.10%—which is practically nothing.
"Even if it's just a little, let's practice and see if there's any chance," Ye Yang muttered. He got up and went to the array section of the library.
He stopped at the corner dedicated to arrays. "Let's see if I can learn anything," he said, picking up a level one array cultivation technique and returning to his spot to study.
After more than a day, he still hadn't grasped it. With a sigh, he realized, "It seems I need to find someone who can teach me this."
With that thought, he left the library and headed to the teaching section, where various elders shared their experiences and insights with disciples.
Ye Yang wandered through the teaching section; a sprawling area filled with small platforms where elders imparted their wisdom.
He scanned the faces, searching for someone with an aura of profound knowledge, someone who looked like they could unravel the mysteries of arrays.
He passed a group learning swordsmanship, the clang of steel ringing in the air, and another focused on cultivating spiritual energy, the air around them shimmering with faint light. But no array masters were in sight.
As he continued his search, a familiar voice called out, "Ye Yang?"
He turned to see Xiao Yu approaching, her brow slightly furrowed as if she was also searching for something. "Xiao Yu," he replied, a hint of relief in his voice. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm heading to the Alchemy section," she said, gesturing towards a cluster of platforms further down.
"Elder Li is giving a lecture on refining spirit herbs. What about you? You seem to be wandering aimlessly."
Ye Yang sighed. "I'm trying to find someone who can teach me about arrays. I've been trying to learn from the manuals in the library, but I'm not getting anywhere. It's like trying to decipher a language I don't understand."
Xiao Yu's eyes widened slightly. "Arrays? That's a tough subject. Even some of the elder's struggle with the more complex ones. Why arrays?"
"I… I don't know," Ye Yang admitted. "There's something about them that fascinates me. The idea of manipulating the very fabric of space and energy... it's captivating. But the manuals are so dense and theoretical. I need someone to guide me."
Xiao Yu smiled. "Well, you're in luck. The Alchemy section is right next to the Array section. We can walk together. I've seen Elder Zhao there a few times. He's supposed to be one of the best array masters in the sect. Maybe you can catch him there."
"Really?" Ye Yang's face lit up. "That would be great! I'd be grateful for any opportunity to learn from him."
They began walking together, the sounds of other lessons fading into the background as they discussed the challenges of their respective pursuits.
Ye Yang explained his struggles with the level one array technique, how the diagrams seemed to shift and blur before his eyes, the explanations convoluted and confusing.
Xiao Yu listened patiently, occasionally offering words of encouragement. She, in turn, talked about the intricacies of alchemy, the delicate balance of ingredients and the precise control of heat required to create potent elixirs.
As they neared their destination, Xiao Yu pointed towards a group of platforms slightly separated from the others. "That's the Array section," she said. "And look, there's Elder Zhao!"
Ye Yang's heart pounded with anticipation. He saw an elderly man with a long white beard, dressed in simple robes, surrounded by a small group of disciples.
"Thank you, Xiao Yu," Ye Yang said, a surge of hope filling him. "You've been a great help."
"No problem," she replied. "Good luck with your arrays. And if you ever need someone to test your creations on, you know where to find me," she added with a wink, before heading towards the Alchemy section.
Ye Yang took a deep breath and approached the Array section, his eyes fixed on Elder Zhao.
This was his chance. This was his opportunity to finally unravel the mysteries that had been plaguing him for days. He just hoped he wouldn't be too nervous to speak.
As Ye Yang approached the Array section, the murmur of the ongoing lesson faded slightly.
Elder Zhao, noticing the newcomer, paused his instruction and turned his gaze towards Ye Yang. The elder's eyes, though kind, held a depth of knowledge that made Ye Yang's heart pound a little faster.
Ye Yang bowed respectfully. "Greetings, Elder Zhao."
Elder Zhao returned the greeting with a nod. "Young man, you're new here. What brings you to the Array section?"
"I… I wish to learn about array arts," Ye Yang replied, his voice filled with a mixture of eagerness and trepidation.
A faint smile touched Elder Zhao's lips. "It's been some months since I've seen a new face interested in this discipline. Tell me, young man, what do you already know about arrays?"
Ye Yang's face fell slightly. "Nothing, Elder Zhao," he admitted, "Absolutely nothing."
A ripple of surprised murmurs went through the small group of disciples gathered around Elder Zhao. One or two even snickered.
Elder Zhao raised an eyebrow, his gaze becoming more scrutinizing.
"Nothing?" he repeated, his voice laced with a hint of scepticism.
"You come to learn array arts, and you know nothing about them? If you're here seeking entertainment, young man, I suggest you find another pastime. This is a demanding discipline, not a game."
Ye Yang straightened his back, his expression resolute. "I understand, Elder Zhao. I know nothing now, but I am determined to learn. I've read some introductory texts, though they were difficult to understand. I know it's a long and difficult path, but I'm willing to walk it."
Elder Zhao paused, studying Ye Yang's face. He saw not a hint of mockery or laziness, but a genuine desire to learn burning in the young man's eyes. After a long moment, he sighed.
"Very well," he said, his voice softening slightly. "You may stay. But understand this, young man, the path of the array master is not easy. It requires dedication, patience, and a keen mind. Are you prepared for that?"
"Yes, Elder Zhao," Ye Yang replied, his voice firm.
Elder Zhao nodded. "Then let us begin." He turned back to the other disciples. "Where were we? Ah, yes, the fundamental principles of array construction…"

And so, Ye Yang's journey into the world of arrays began.
Elder Zhao started with the very basics, explaining the fundamental concepts of energy flow, spatial manipulation, and the intricate connection between the two.
The spoke of the origins of arrays, how they were first discovered, and how they had evolved over centuries, becoming an integral part of cultivation, warfare, and even everyday life.
He explained the different uses of arrays: some were designed for defense, creating impenetrable barriers; others were offensive weapons, unleashing devastating blasts of energy; still others were used for healing, enhancing cultivation, or even manipulating the very elements.
Then, Elder Zhao introduced the different types of arrays, categorized by their complexity and power, from the simple level one arrays used for basic energy manipulation to the legendary level ten arrays, whose power was said to be capable of reshaping landscapes.
