Nightmare Assault-Chapter 473: Choice
Jiang Cheng picked up the pouch to toy with it. He tilted his head. βThenβ¦ shall we open it?β π³ππππππππ πππ.π°π π¦
βYes! Yes!β Blind Zheng stared at the pouch and became excited. However, Jiang Cheng tossed the pouch from his left hand to the right and back again. Blind Zhengβs gaze followed it closely as he swallowed. Jiang Cheng was certain that the pouch would trigger the death condition.
Jiang Cheng started to calm down. In other words, as long as he didnβt open the pouch, he would be fine. The difficultyβ¦ was how to leave the room. If he stayed there for too long, there might be trouble.
Jiang Cheng shoved the pouch in his pocket. βLetβs deal with that later. Today, Iβm having so much fun drinking with Brother Zheng. I donβt want to ruin the mood.β
Blind Zhengβs gaze visibly glazed over with venom. However, it was quickly replaced by an alcohol buzz. In the later conversation, Jiang Cheng tried to get more information from the ghost, but the latter was very clever. It just wanted Jiang Cheng to open the pouch. For a few moments, Jiang Cheng thought the ghost would just expose everything. Thankfully, it didnβt. However, after some exchanges, Blind Zheng seemed to notice something. The way he looked at Jiang Cheng was not as fuzzy as before. Instead, his gaze coloured with aggression.
Jiang Cheng still remained dull. He kept lamenting how happy he was to meet Blind Zheng. He didnβt care. He would keep acting. As long as the ghost didnβt come clean, he would keep playing dumb.
βBrother Jiang!β Blind Zheng stood up and interrupted the rambling Jiang Cheng. He smiled. βWhy hasnβtβ¦ your friend returned? Is it becauseβ¦ he saw something?β Blind Zhengβs face twitched. His patience was wearing thin.
βYouβre right!β Jiang Cheng stood up and moved to the door. He huffed, βBrother Zheng, please donβt be angry. Iβll grab him back to apologise to you!β As Jiang Chengβs hand grabbed the doorknob, a hand landed silently on Jiang Chengβs right shoulder.
Blind Zhengβs emotionless voice said, βBrother Jiang, Iβll go with you. He might be just next door.β Blind Zheng grinned, revealing his white teeth. βWeβll go look for him.β Jiang Cheng didnβt see the eerie grin because he didnβt turn around. However, he sensed the chillβ¦ that came from the manβs mouth. It crawled up his spine.
Was this⦠unavoidable? If they went next door, he would still die once they saw the corpse of the real Blind Zheng. What was the solution?
As Jiang Cheng hesitated, rapid footsteps came from outside the door, then stopped. The next second, a giant force shoved the door open. Jiang Cheng didnβt dare to move, so the door bumped into him.
The door opened to reveal a man in a security guard outfit. He had a baton around his waist and a cap on his head. However, it didnβt look like the man wore the hat often. His hair was long and oily. The hair was slicked down to his scalp. He looked around forty, but he was rude to Blind Zheng. βBlind Zheng!β The guard glanced into the room. βYouβre hiding here to drink again!β
Before Blind Zheng could react, the guard grabbed him by his neck and dragged him away. He scolded Blind Zheng. At some points, he even acted like heβd kick him.
That morning, the hospital had already given the warning that Blind Zheng couldnβt drink at work. The director tasked the guard to watch over him. If the director noticed Blind Zheng drinking, the guardβs pay would be deducted. The guard dragged Blind Zheng away from the lobby because he wanted to keep this on the down low. There was a small door not far away. It was at a secluded location. The people delivering stuff probably used that door.
Jiang Cheng looked around and prepared to leave.
βBrother Jiang!β A soft voice came from the corner. A person walked out of the shadow. Jiang Cheng didnβt notice him earlier.
βItβs me!β Cao Yang sneaked out. The way he tiptoed with his muscular body was quite cute. βAre you alright?β
Cao Yang stared in the direction where the guard and Blind Zheng had disappeared. Jiang Chengβs eyes cleared as something dawned on him.
βI was so scared.β Cao Yang said rapidly, βIn that roomβ¦β
βYou found Blind Zhengβs corpse.β Jiang Cheng nodded.
Cao Yang was startled. Then, his eyes narrowed with fear as he stumbled backwards.
βIβm not a ghost,β Jiang Cheng explained. βDid you summon the guard?β He asked. The guard wouldnβt appear for no reason. Clearly, someone called him. Jiang Cheng was surprised that Cao Yang was so clever.
βYes.β Cao Yang whispered, βI told him Blind Zheng was raging from alcohol in his room and threatened to burn down the hospital.β
βThank you.β
βLetβs go.β Cao Yang urged as he glanced down the corridor. βThis place is not safe. What if they returnβ¦β Cao Yang shut his mouth. A strange emotion entered his eyes. He looked sad, but there was also a sense of helplessness after making a choice.
Jiang Cheng knew what he was thinking. It would not end well for the guard. If no one came, Jiang Cheng might die. Might because Jiang Cheng knew that there was someone scarier within him. And that person probably wouldnβt let Jiang Cheng die.
When Blind Zhengβs arm landed on his shoulder, he felt a presence awakening within him. It was like a beast waking up. However, for Jiang Cheng, chains were binding him. Unless necessary, he wouldnβt let him out.
When he thought about that face, Jiang Cheng had a rare nightmare. In the nightmare, he walked in a bloody rain. The mud under his feet was soaked in blood. Body parts were scattered around him. White bones built a massive green copper door. The door was flowing with traces of blood and fire. It resembled a religious ritual.
As the sole survivor, he was summoned to the door. He lowered his head. Inside the pool of blood, he saw the reflection of Wuβs face.
