Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields-Chapter 390 - 373: The Date
"No way, I only have one chance left to create a bond, and I'm not sure if I want to upgrade this skill." Lin Yi shook his head.
"So this skill is about creating bonds between you and others?" Natasha suddenly became interested and asked.
"Yes." Lin Yi thought for a while, "It says 'This skill allows you to create bonds between two or more people'."
Lin Yi upgraded the skill to level 3, and now he can create twelve bonds.
The bonuses from secondary skills are gone, but the bonuses to basic attributes have become... directly attribute values!
In other words, Lin Yi now has 75% of Rein's attributes, including the bonuses from her horse and equipment.
...
Lin Yi looked at his attributes, very satisfied. And he still has twelve bonds to create!
"Okay, lunch is over, let's go." He stood up from the dining table and headed home.
Rein immediately ran to his side. She was obviously embarrassed and didn't know how to start.
She looked back at Orianna, who nodded and smiled at her.
"Boss..." Rein said, not very confidently.
"Hmm?"
"You promised to help me with a favor... You said you would... go on a date with me..." Rein stammered, barely able to speak.
Lin Yi cursed himself inwardly for agreeing to Rein's "small request"...
Then he followed Rein's gaze to a little green-skinned mischief-maker who was sweetly smiling and understood who had encouraged her to do this...
"Alright..." The boss replied in a resigned tone, then looked at his watch, "I'll come to pick you up in an hour, I've got to handle some things first."
"Okay!" The extremely happy girl ran towards Orianna to celebrate with her and discuss what to wear, etc.
Lin Yi headed home and then teleported to Tilian, where the envoy from that small town had been waiting for him for twenty minutes.
"Sorry, got delayed by some things." Lin Yi said as he got off the transport and saw the small town's negotiator sitting at a table.
"It's really no problem!" The half-mechanical man jumped up from the table as if welcoming a very important person.
"I brought your payment, along with an invitation to our town."
"Hmm... I only have an hour, and then I have to leave. I won't be back until tomorrow morning."
"An hour... Okay! Let's leave the town tour for tomorrow then.
Now, let me introduce you to our leader first, and then we can talk business.
The Archbishop mentioned in his message that you sell many interesting products and also offer transport and freight services."
"That's right, I offer fast and high-quality services."
Lin Yi waved his hand. Several huge fuel boxes appeared beside him immediately.
"Hahaha! That's really fast!" the negotiator said.
He almost forgot that this alien could teleport goods and soldiers with just a wave of his hand...
After teleporting the payment to the warehouse and the soldiers and vehicles to the shelter, Lin Yi went to the small town.
The town had changed, the streets were full of vehicles and pedestrians. Everyone was busy.
Some half-mechanical people were dismantling dilapidated buildings and transporting rubble to the town's outskirts, while squads of robots patrolled the area.
The vehicles quickly arrived at a seemingly unremarkable building with a tunnel leading to a bunker.
It was an elevator, equipped with a top-notch security system.
To Lin Yi's surprise, no one came to escort him and the negotiator, not even when they stepped out of the elevator into the city.
However, he soon realized that there wasn't much need for guards here. The security system was fully automated. If enemies infiltrated the city, it could easily annihilate a well-equipped team of invaders.
"Aren't you worried about infected people?" Lin Yi asked, looking at the surrounding electronic equipment.
"Of course, we are worried." The person answered with a smile. The city had its own air filtration system, so he had already taken off his helmet.
"That's why we seal ourselves in here. Even if just one infected person enters our city, we'd be doomed.
We've tested our security system's resistance to the virus many times, and...
Before the system gets completely infected, our virtual defense can last about a minute at most."
"Got it. Haven't you researched that anti-virus device?" Lin Yi referred to a level 3 system equipment, basically equivalent to a 'return' vaccine for half-mechanical people.
"We certainly have researched it, but no matter how hard we try, we can't replicate it..." The person replied sadly, then perked up and quickened his pace.
"Come on, I believe you'll like the city."
They soon passed the final checkpoint, leaving the third security zone.
"Not bad... But where did you get so much electricity to power this place?" Lin Yi asked, looking at the city built inside a massive cavern.
At first glance, the population here was at least half a million.
"The AX - 12M geothermal reactor is our company's greatest achievement," the negotiator declared.
"It's only operating at 10% capacity right now. Theoretically, we can supply enough electricity for one, even two fortresses!"
"Hmm..." Lin Yi pondered. "But clearly, there's no way to connect cables to it."
"Exactly."
"You must have some very powerful batteries, right? Can't you use those batteries to supply electricity to the fortresses?"
"I see what you mean, but transporting batteries requires too much effort and cost..."
He trailed off because he suddenly remembered Lin Yi's teleportation ability!
"Hahaha! That would solve all the problems!"
"But remember, I don't work for free." Lin Yi smiled, "But I'm not asking for anything outrageous, just five or ten percent."
"I will pass it on to my superiors."
They got into a waiting car and drove toward the city's center, which was the headquarters.
As Lin Yi expected, the main building was a gigantic tower that extended all the way to the top of the cavern.
This city...
was an ordinary city, bustling with people coming and going, with many cars on the streets.
Interestingly, there were real trees here, not the decayed ones like on the surface, and there were grasslands and even flowers.
The city was brilliantly illuminated, as bright as day.
The car eventually got caught in traffic, so they arrived at the tower five minutes later than expected.
After passing through several checkpoints, the two arrived in front of an elevator, and a few seconds later, they reached somewhere in the middle of the tower.
They walked into a conference room where about twenty Tilian people were waiting for them.
A man in his thirties wearing a white suit sat at the head of the conference table.
For half-mechanical people, appearance was basically a matter of personal preference.
"I'm Lin Yi, from Earth." Lin Yi waved his hand and then sat down in one of the chairs.
"Hello, Lin Yi." The man in the white suit spoke as well.
"I'm Kitano Zeus Shield, a board member of Zeus Shield Technology Company. I know your time is limited, so let's get straight to the point. Namaal informed me of your proposal for transporting goods, and we're very interested."
Lin Yi looked surprised at the half-mechanical person in red clothing, who was apparently named Namaal.
However, what really surprised him was that Zeus Shield company already knew about his proposal for transporting goods.
Lin Yi hadn't seen this half-mechanical person communicate with anyone, so how and when did he tell them?
"You have the internet here, right?"
"Yes, but only within the city."
"Then you already know what I can do, so let's talk about something practical."
Lin Yi grinned, with Immanuel and his assistant listening intently at the shelter.
Just as Kitano promised, the negotiations didn't take long.
Lin Yi agreed to open a branch in Zeus Shield City, sell them a small batch of fuel, and most importantly, help them trade with other fortresses.
When the reminder on Lin Yi's phone sounded, the negotiations had already ended.
As promised, he was escorted back to the surface, but before that, he summoned Immanuel's assistant to set up the new branch.
"What's this, a flying car?"
"Sort of. Don't you have aircraft on 'Earth'?"
"We do, but I'm surprised you also have them. I heard that planes can't fly here."
"That's right, they can't fly." Namaal nodded and smiled again. "At least not on the surface. But underground, everything works normally."
"This place is really complex... Well, let's go—I mean, take off."
They reached the elevator in a few minutes, and Lin Yi made it home just in time for his date with Rein.
He quickly tidied himself up, then headed to Rein's house, his mind full of work-related matters...
The plan for the operation on the Zombie City would be carried out the next day.
Would the Weapon Smiths have everything repaired and upgraded by then? Would this battle be the same as the last? If so, what should they do?
And then there were those dragons...
"Boss..." A woman's voice called, pulling him out of his contemplation. Unknowingly, he had already walked to Rein's house and knocked on the door.
He snapped back to reality, seeing Rein wearing a loose dress the same color as her eyes.
The dress wasn't flashy or anything, just nice and simple.
She carried a small purse on her shoulder, something Lin Yi had no idea what for.
"Sorry, I was lost in thought just now... I've got so much going on lately."
"I didn't mean to disturb you..." Rein lowered her head apologetically.
"Don't worry about it." Lin Yi said with a smile, then paused.
"You know, I haven't even thought about where we're going..."
"Orianna arranged some activities for us." Rein reached into her purse and pulled out a piece of paper.
"Here you go."
"... Market, snacks, boating on the lake... Are we really going to do these things? Then watch a movie, kiss... Haha, are you dreaming? Evening walk in the park, then kiss again, and then take Rein home and sleep with her."
Lin Yi looked up from the note, staring at Rein.
"Have you seen this?"
"No." Rein answered honestly. "I don't know why it's in Chinese, and they wouldn't tell me what it says..."
"Let Kaya translate it for you."
Lin Yi said, handing the note back to her. Rein put the note back in her purse, and the two walked toward the market...
