Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 529: Act Normal
Audrey Sutton lowered her head, took a couple of sips of soup leisurely, then glanced at Shane Warner’s expression before speaking: "Going to a concert."
Shane Warner’s brows knitted a bit tighter. He asked, "Whose concert?"
Audrey Sutton: "I’ll be honest with you, but you must not get angry."
Shane Warner looked at her expressionlessly, neither nodding nor speaking.
Audrey Sutton: "If you don’t promise, I won’t say it."
Shane Warner: "Simon Sue?"
Audrey Sutton’s back stiffened briefly, then she quickly changed her expression, grinning as she tried to please Shane Warner, "Bear is his fan. She bought tickets and asked me to accompany her."
Shane Warner: "Did she have to ask you? Or did you want to go yourself?"
Audrey Sutton hesitantly explained, "...I’m just going with Bear. I’m not a fan girl, just going to join in the fun. Flora is busy lately, Seraphina Vaughn went abroad for a vacation and hasn’t returned, so Bear asked me."
Shane Warner stared at her unblinkingly, the silent pressure making her feel guilty.
In fact, Audrey Sutton wasn’t lying, except she hid the detail that the concert tickets were requested from Simon Sue by her.
Just as Audrey Sutton anxiously thought he wouldn’t agree, he unexpectedly relented with a nonchalant expression and said, "If you want to go, go ahead. I have no objections."
When Shane Warner said this, his expression was indifferent. Audrey Sutton asked, "Are you really okay with it, or are you already mad?"
Shane Warner interjected with an off-topic remark, "Do you want more soup?"
Audrey Sutton was momentarily stunned, then shook her head.
Then she watched as Shane Warner poured the vegetables from the plate into the pot, saying, "It’s just a concert, why would I be angry?"
Audrey Sutton looked at him skeptically, doubting he was such a generous person.
Shane Warner: "What time tomorrow? Where? Should I drive you there?"
The more Audrey Sutton looked at Shane Warner, the stranger she found him: "Act normal."
Shane Warner: "Am I not acting normally?"
Audrey Sutton shook her head without thinking, "Not normal."
Shane Warner: "Then what do you think is normal? Getting angry? Scolding you? Not letting you go?"
Although Audrey Sutton didn’t want him to do that, given his past temper, such reactions would be more typical.
The soup in the pot started to boil, bubbling. Shane Warner picked up a piece of beef, cooking it as he said, "It’s not like you and he have something. You trust me, so I naturally trust you too. It’s just a concert, I’m not that petty. When on vacation, you should go out and have fun with friends."
Audrey Sutton observed that he didn’t seem to be speaking against his will, feeling relieved, she said, "Save next weekend for me. Let’s go out together then."
Shane Warner: "That depends if I’m free."
Audrey Sutton knew his little pride was because he wasn’t happy about being stood up, so she smiled ingratiatingly and said, "Then I’ll wait until you’re free and we’ll go out then."
Shane Warner put the cooked slice of meat into his mouth without replying.
Audrey Sutton said again, "Tomorrow you don’t need to drop me off. Bear and I are leaving in the morning, going shopping first, then heading to the concert in the evening. I’ll call you when it’s over."
Shane Warner: "Get back the same way you went. Concerts typically end past midnight, don’t disturb my rest."
Audrey Sutton teased, "Can you really sleep if I don’t come home? Don’t disturb your rest? Do you really want me to take a taxi home at dawn? What if I get kidnapped?"
Shane Warner: "Out with the old, in with the new."
Audrey Sutton glared at him, reaching over with her chopsticks to grab the meatball he’d just fished out of the pot. But she didn’t grip it well and it fell back into the pot.
Shane Warner glanced at her, extended his chopsticks into the pot again. Audrey Sutton purposefully tussled with him, standing up to snatch it.
But Shane Warner still managed to pick it up, and just as she was about to grab it from his chopsticks again, she noticed Shane Warner bringing the meatball over to her, placing it in her bowl.
Audrey Sutton smiled with satisfaction, sat back down, and said with a playful grin, "Thank you, hubby."
Those four words made Shane Warner completely yield, all grievances and resentment vanished into thin air.
The next day, Audrey Sutton and Bear spent the whole day out eating, drinking, and enjoying themselves.
Audrey Sutton shopped until after four in the afternoon, then found a café near the venue to chill until six o’clock, wandering near the venue with Bear afterwards.
The concert started at eight, ticket checks began at six-thirty.
Audrey Sutton initially thought they were early, but upon arriving, she realized the area outside the venue was already thronged with people.
Simon Sue’s popularity was indeed no exaggeration.
There were vendors selling things like glow sticks and light boards. Bear tugged Audrey Sutton over to pick out a few items.
She bought a light board that said, "Simon, Mommy loves you!" which made Audrey Sutton somewhat disdainful: "Why did you choose this one? It’s not sophisticated at all."
Bear: "You don’t get it. Compared to the cliché slogans, isn’t this one especially unique? This will make me stand out, be the coolest one tonight."
That wasn’t even the end of it; Bear also bought two glowing headbands, ones that were multicolored, and gave one to Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton could accept the headband, but the "Mommy loves you" light board was just too much for her to handle.
Like browsing a fair, the two were picking and choosing, neither noticing the tall man in a baseball cap following them through the crowd.
At six-thirty, tickets were promptly checked for entry. Simon Sue’s tickets were VIP, arguably the best viewing area, right in the center of the stage, close enough to see every corner clearly.
After finding their seats, Audrey Sutton took out her phone and recorded a short video to send to Shane Warner, updating him about her situation to keep him from worrying at home.
However, he hadn’t replied to her messages all day; Audrey Sutton knew he was doing it on purpose.
He must have seen all her messages but was pretending not to care.
In the past, when Shane Warner didn’t respond to her messages, Audrey Sutton would overthink it. But now, understanding his behavior, she no longer frets over it.
Bear sat fiddling with her light board, excitedly saying, "Hey Sutton, look, there’s a flashing mode."
Seeing the words above, Audrey Sutton quickly pressed down on the light board: "Turn it off now."
Bear: "No, just let it flash for tonight. If I turn it off, wouldn’t it be a waste of my money?"
Saying that, Bear also lifted the light board above her head, waving it around.
Audrey Sutton could only helplessly turn her head away, pretending not to know Bear.
As darkness gradually fell, Audrey Sutton noticed the seat behind her remained empty.
Could some people really get tickets and not come to the show?
