Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 530: Give Me a Smile
When even Simon Sue was up on stage performing, Audrey Sutton turned to look at the seat behind her, and it was still empty.
She gently nudged Barry Barrett with her elbow and said, "Bear, look at this, you couldn’t get tickets, but someone got them and didn’t even show up. Doesn’t that make you mad?"
Barry glanced over and said, "Who cares, even though I didn’t get tickets, I’m still here, aren’t I?"
After saying that, she continued to gaze at the stage with starry eyes, waving her "stands out in the crowd" glow sign.
Audrey glanced at her phone; Shane still hadn’t replied. She couldn’t just share the video of Simon’s performance with him, otherwise Shane might think she was doing it just to annoy him.
So Audrey put away her phone and watched Simon’s performance intently.
Looking at the dazzling him on stage, Audrey felt it was quite surreal.
No one would have thought that chubby little boy would grow up to become a star idol.
Audrey had seen some of Simon’s film and TV works but had never seen him sing and dance live before.
He was truly handsome, undeniably handsome.
But in Audrey’s heart, Simon’s kind of handsomeness was different from Shane’s.
Her feelings for Shane were of admiration, while for Simon, it was more like awe.
She just felt the kid was really excellent, like the term Barry had introduced to her earlier—a "mom fan."
Audrey considered herself Simon’s mom fan. Seeing Simon doing so well made her feel both comforting and proud.
After opening with three songs, Simon finally greeted everyone, catching his breath while chatting with the audience.
During the chat, Audrey turned to look behind her again and suddenly noticed someone was sitting in that seat now.
The lighting was dim, and the person wore a baseball cap pressed low, making it impossible to see the face, but from the silhouette, it was clear it was a man.
Audrey didn’t dare to look too closely and turned back, still feeling a bit uneasy about the person behind her. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Most of the audience were young girls; male fans were relatively rare.
Moreover, the glance she stole made her feel he was in a low mood.
The girls beside him were filming the stage with their phones, excitedly answering Simon’s questions aloud, making the unresponsive man in the middle stand out even more.
Audrey’s intuition told her something was off.
She sneaked another glance and saw that the man had simply started to look at his phone, seemingly texting.
Audrey thought maybe she had a fear of people in baseball caps, and seeing such a suspicious get-up made her overthink. Maybe that’s just how he usually dressed, and he was possibly just accompanying a girlfriend, hence his lack of interest in the performance.
Thinking this, Audrey looked at the two women next to the man again and realized none of them seemed to know each other; each girl had her own friends, and no one spoke to the man.
It was odd to buy a ticket alone for a concert but not be interested in the performance at all.
Just as Audrey was mulling this over, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.
The concert was loud, making it hard to hear the phone ringing, and her thick clothing muffled the vibration.
Once she took out her phone and saw the new message notification, Audrey knew she hadn’t imagined it.
Smiling, she unlocked her phone; Shane had finally replied, asking her: Enjoying it?
Audrey typed a reply: The show just started. Do you want to see a video of it?
Shane: Not interested.
Audrey pouted at the screen: Then don’t disturb me, I’ll get back to you after the concert.
True to his word, Shane didn’t reply further.
Audrey quietly put her phone away and continued watching Simon’s performance, listening to Barry talk about some gossip she hadn’t heard.
The show became more and more exciting, and chatting with Barry, Audrey forgot about the odd man behind them.
The special guest was Simon’s senior, a songwriter who was popular when Audrey was in middle school. Audrey really liked his songs and waved her light stick, singing along.
While she was fully engrossed, her phone in the bag seemed to vibrate again.
It wasn’t until the song ended that Audrey looked at her phone.
Another message from Shane, and this time it was a video.
Audrey opened it, instantly recognizing the setting—it was from the concert indeed.
And in the video, there were the backs of two girls, and she immediately recognized the glowing horn headband on one of them, it was obviously her!
Feeling a bit unnerved, she realized Shane was the one who sent the video.
Realizing this, Audrey quickly turned to look behind her.
This time, the man with the baseball cap didn’t avoid her gaze but stared directly at her, then put his baseball cap onto Audrey’s face.
Audrey hurriedly brushed it off with her hand, surprised and delighted: "It’s you?! What are you doing here?!"
Shane snorted coldly: "I came to see you fangirl."
Barry turned around and saw Shane. She politely stood up and said, "Brother-in-law, want to switch seats?"
Not bothered to be courteous, Shane stood and moved through the gap in the seats to the front.
Barry, with her arms full of snacks, had trouble moving, so she just handed the glow sign to Audrey.
Audrey glanced at the flashing letters on it, then at Shane, noticing his eyes also on the sign.
Audrey hurriedly tried to cover it with her hand, passing it back to Barry as if it was a hot potato.
Barry, arms still full of snacks, was moving to another row, "Hold it for me, can’t you see my hands are full?"
Audrey gave Shane a guilty look and waited for Barry to sit down before quickly handing over the glow sign back. Facing Shane’s questioning gaze, she promptly explained, "Bear bought it!"
Shane didn’t comment, sitting in the seat next to Audrey, turning his attention to the stage.
Audrey pursed her lips, leaned over, nudging him lightly, and asked with a smile: "How did you get a ticket?"
Shane gave her a sarcastic smile, "So it’s okay for Simon to give you one, but not me?"
Audrey’s smile froze: "How did you know? Did you meet him in private? Did he tell you?"
Shane: "Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that?"
Audrey gave a dry laugh: "...We went to the same school, bound to bump into each other... Bear couldn’t get a ticket, but she really wanted to come, that’s why I..."
Having said that, Audrey clung to Shane’s arm, shaking it while pouting: "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have lied to you, I was just afraid you’d be upset, so I didn’t tell you the truth."
Shane: "I’m not angry."
Audrey stared at him for two seconds: "You don’t look like it."
Shane turned to look at her: "Then how should I prove I’m not angry?"
Audrey thought for a moment and said: "Give me a smile and I’ll believe you."
