Chapter 325 - 319: Meltdowner? Disappointing.
"Hey, you bastard, stop right there!"
Frenda shouted in frustration.
She absolutely had to get even for being ignored.
At the same time, Misaki was also visibly upset. The mood had just been perfect...who knows what could've happened?
But suddenly, someone had to show up and ruin it!
When she turned around and saw that it was Frenda, Misaki frowned.
Just earlier on the street, Haruto had pulled her along and left without hesitation. She had been confused at the time, but out of trust in Haruto, she didn't ask any questions. Now, however, it seemed that decision had been absolutely correct.
The girl who had just seemed so pitiful when surrounded by thugs was now full of energy, chasing them down like a storm.
If she could shake off those thugs so easily, why even pretend to be trapped?
Did she have some strange kink or something?
Haruto was also a bit surprised to see Frenda.
By all logic, if the bait didn't work...
Shouldn't she just lay low and wait to strike from the shadows? Charging in like this was just alerting the target unnecessarily.
And indeed, that should've been the plan.
But Frenda had acted on her own.
Haruto's background was plain and ordinary, yet his bounty was absurdly high.
In the Dark Side, there's a rule: only those who engage the target during a mission are entitled to a share of the reward.
If someone from the group takes out the target alone, they keep the entire bounty.
Frenda wanted to try and claim that massive reward for herself.
Charging in front of Haruto, Frenda feigned anger like a little girl throwing a tantrum.
"You bastard! Why didn't you help me earlier? You clearly saw a beautiful maiden like me being surrounded!"
She immediately started accusing Haruto, trying to flip the script.
Meanwhile, her hand was secretly reaching behind her back. Haruto looked at Frenda with a half-smile.
That reaction made Frenda hesitate a bit.
Could he know who I really am?
The thought made her panic slightly.
Her fingers brushed the metallic feel of a grenade pin. Just as she prepared to launch a sneak attack and make a run for it... frёeωebɳovel.com
The world suddenly flipped upside down.
Frenda: ???
Haruto had grabbed her by the ankle, through her long socks, and lifted her upside down like a sack of potatoes.
The sudden weightlessness made Frenda panic.
She instinctively pulled out a special missile from behind her back.
But before she could even pull the pin, it was snatched away.
Then her whole body was shaken up and down.
Vertigo hit her hard, accompanied by the clinking and clanking of falling objects. In that moment, Frenda felt a despair beyond words.
She was a combatant who relied on tools and tactics.
But now...
From various parts of her body — even beneath her skirt — a mountain of gadgets came tumbling down.
Haruto's mouth twitched.
This girl was literally hiding bombs in her underwear.
That pleated skirt of hers was practically a four-dimensional storage space.
Six ring-pull mini-missiles, four grenades, two rolls of special incendiary tape, and a ton of miniature remote explosives fell out.
She even had a silenced pistol hidden at her waist.
She was practically a walking armory.
But now, that armory had been completely disarmed. Even her underwear was exposed to the air.
"At your age, isn't wearing lace a little too mature?" Haruto commented dryly.
Already emotionally crushed, Frenda now looked like she was about to burst into tears.
Embarrassed, sure — but mostly terrified.
She was a member of the Dark Side, and now she had been captured by the target, stripped of all her gear.
This was a death sentence.
Meanwhile, Misaki's cheeks turned bright red at Haruto's comment.
He might've said it casually, but she took it personally. After all, her own bra and panties were also lace-style.
She really liked the elegance of white lace — the lace gloves she was wearing were a perfect example.
So Haruto's teasing made her feel like she had just been hit directly.
"Umm... hehe... life is precious, Onii-san, don't be angry, okay?"
Frenda instantly changed her tone, pitifully begging for mercy. She was someone who valued her life more than anything.
"What a selfish girl. When you're winning, you have no sympathy for others. But the moment you're about to lose, you start talking about how precious life is. You're such a hypocrite."
Haruto mocked her.
Frenda stuck her tongue out and gave a playful fist tap to her forehead.
"Ehehe."
She was trying to act cute to get out of trouble.
However...
"Ehehe my ass. Now talk—who are you, who are your allies, and why are you targeting me?"
Haruto snorted coldly.
Frenda didn't even hesitate and immediately tried to blurt out everything she knew. But just as she opened her mouth...
A sudden numbness spread from her ankle through her entire body.
She couldn't speak a single word.
Realizing what just happened, Frenda was utterly horrified.
She wanted to sell the intel! She wanted to live!
She didn't want to die here!
Frenda's expression turned desperate as her eyes wildly signaled Haruto.
But then, she saw Haruto's amused smile.
In that instant, she understood.
He had deliberately paralyzed her.
But why?
Didn't he want the information?
Was he just toying with her?
Tears welled up in Frenda's eyes from the stress.
"I'll count to three. If you're still silent after that, I'll execute you."
Haruto said coldly.
Frenda actually started crying.
She wanted to talk!
Just let her talk!
"Three... two... one..."
Just as Haruto's countdown reached its end—
A sudden green beam of light shot toward them at high speed from the distance.
Haruto immediately tossed Frenda aside and grabbed Misaki, dodging to the side.
The green beam struck the spot where Haruto had just stood—instantly vaporizing that section of the beach.
A massive hole formed where he had been.
The sand around the impact site turned into half-formed glass from the heat.
Then came a series of explosions.
All the bombs that had fallen from Frenda's body were triggered by the intense heat.
Frenda was thrown aside, rolling on the ground a few times.
She looked a bit pitiful, but wasn't actually injured.
She looked up and saw Mugino Shizuri walking toward her. Tears welled up and she clung to Mugino's leg.
"Mugino! Thank goodness you're here!"
Mugino snorted coldly.
Frenda had acted on her own — by Mugino's standards, that usually warranted a harsh punishment.
But considering how tight-lipped she had just been...
Mugino, surprisingly, decided to let it slide this once.
"Get to the back. Just this once, I'll overlook it."
Hearing this, Frenda immediately ran behind her. But her gaze remained fixed on Haruto in the distance.
Frenda wasn't stupid.
She knew Haruto had done that on purpose.
He absolutely knew she would've spilled the information. She would've done it without even being asked — just for a shot at survival.
But if she had ratted them out...
Frenda's eyes drifted toward Mugino.
She would've been killed.
Mugino couldn't tolerate betrayal.
So... why had he saved her?
Gratitude and confusion filled Frenda's heart.
Despite being selfish and reckless, Frenda wasn't someone who couldn't recognize kindness.
Meanwhile, Haruto, holding Misaki in his arms, stepped back and assessed Mugino.
That Meltdowner ability...
How should he put it?
A bit disappointing.
There really wasn't much research value in it.
Mugino coldly snorted and flicked her fingers.
Several green beams shot toward Haruto. He shifted slightly, dodging all of them with ease.
"Not bad, but unfortunately for you... you're going to die here today. Getting targeted by those people — you should be more careful next life."
She waved to a nearby brown-haired girl, signaling her to restrain Haruto.
"What are you people? Why are you attacking us?!"
Misaki shouted.
She wasn't panicking, but she was genuinely worried.
Worried for Haruto's safety.
