Chapter 227: Nathan Vs Susan[1]

The fact that there was an hidden quest didn’t surprise him at all, as he had already expected it since the start of the match with Trent.

However, what confused him was the last quest.

Although it showed that it had been completed, the details of the quest itself weren’t displayed by the system.

All he could see were the words "Stop" and "From", the remaining words were just glitches and gibberish.

’Stop what... from what...?’ Harry mumbled inwardly, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

’Hey! Other voice, do you understand what this is supposed to mean?’ He thought, slowly walking out of the stage.

Trent was still being healed by the instructor, turned out his injuries were a lot more severe than he thought.

Since it would strange if he just stood still on the stage while questioning the other voice, he decided to act ’normally’ and leave the stage.

As he got down from the stage, a familiar voice sounded in his head, and the frown on his face deepened even further.

[I wish I could tell you, but... even I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean.]

’What?!’ Harry thought, gnashing his teeth in annoyance.

[I already told you before, I’m not the ’system’. I don’t control the quests, or even the system for that matter. I’m different from the system.]

[But, if I were to take a guess, I’d say... the system is trying to hide this from you.]

The other voice suddenly said, causing Harry’s eyes to widen in shock.

"The system... is trying to hide something from me?" He mumbled, his brows furrowing slightly.

’What could that be? How could the system even hide something from me? It’s not like it has a mind of its own... right?’

[Hmm... I wouldn’t say it’s hiding it from you on its own will. It’s like video games, where you can’t access information on things like maps and weapons before reaching a particular level.]

[The system is similar to a video game... so this is probably something you’ll be restricted from until you reach ’that particular level’.]

’And by that... you mean reaching the class ’Manaless mage’. Harry thought, a strange glint flashing through his eyes.

[Yeah! It’s only a guess though... but I’d advise you evolve first, so you’ll fully unlock the system.]

"Yeah..." Harry muttered, clenching his hands into a fist.

A part of him had already expected this, suspecting that the information hidden by the system pertained to him having not unlocked the ’manaless mage’ class.

Nonetheless, he still hated it. Being left in the dark by the system like this, was very annoying, but there was nothing he could do about it... at least not currently.

’I’ll surely get stronger, and find out whatever it’s trying to hide from me.’ He thought, his brows furrowing slightly.

[We’ll now be advancing unto the next match in the semi-finals! Nathan Lane Vs Susan Grey!!]

The commentator shouted, and the hall immediately exploded into a loud round of cheers.

While Harry’s fight had been very interesting, one fight they were all eagerly waiting for was the one between the rank one student Susan Grey, and the talented combat mage, Nathan Lane.

They had both been outstanding since the start of the ranking event, and the audience were excited to see who would emerge victorious in a fight between the two of them.

Within a few minutes, the two participants emerged from opposite ends of the stage, sparks flying between them.

Nathan had a slight smirk on his face, as he calmly climbed unto the stage, with his sword hanging from his side.

As for Susan, she had an indifferent expression, like none of this even mattered to her.

Nonetheless, an odd glint flashed through her eyes, as she locked eyes with her opponent once more.

[Let the match... begin!!!]

After the two participants finally positioned themselves on the stage, the commentator’s loud voice echoed throughout the hall, announcing the start of the fight.

"Wow, to think I’m finally facing the rank one Elementalist... I’m excited." Nathan said, the smirk on his face slowly widening as he drew his sword.

"Hmph. Don’t get so excited, I’ll end this in minutes." Susan lightly shrugged her shoulders, before stretching her hand towards the combat mage.

Twishh!!

"Light Blast." Light rapidly gathered in front of her palms, shooting towards Nathan at insane speed.

However, Nathan hurriedly channeled mana into his sword, deftly deflecting the attack to the side.

Thwam!

The blast slammed into the ground instead, going off in a small explosion of radiant light.

"I advise you go all you, cause if you don’t, you’ll lose." Nathan said, dashing towards Susan at rapid speed.

Swoosh!!

He swiftly swung his sword once more, releasing a thin slash wave of mana.

"Tsk." Susan mumbled, her brows furrowing into a slight frown at the combat mage’s words.

"Light boots." She said, hurriedly conjuring a pair of thick, radiant books over her legs.

Using the speed boost from the boots, she quickly dashed to the side, successfully evading the yellow slash which flew past her. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

However, Nathan lunged at her once more, swiftly thrusting his sword at his shoulder.

Susan deftly stepped to the side once more, causing the blade to stab through the air instead.

"Light Spear!" She shouted, summoning a short spear of light, before thrusting it towards the combat mage’s torso.

"Damnit." Nathan gnashed his teeth in frustration, hurriedly twisting his sword in a bid to block the attack.

Thang!

The light spear struck the blade with a low echo, the force behind it sending Nathan sliding backwards by a few steps.

"Light Arrows." Susan said, conjuring ten arrows of light which hovered in front of her hand.

Swish!!

Three of the arrows immediately shot towards Nathan, hurtling through the air at rapid speed.

Without wasting any time, Nathan swiftly swung his blade at the incoming attacks, deflecting them all to the sides.

Fwishh!!

The arrows crashed into the ground instead, exploding into tiny white particles, before vanishing into thin air.

Nonetheless, just as Nathan deflected them, Susan quickly sent three more light arrows flying at him.

’She’s trying to stop me from getting close to her.’ Nathan thought, his lips slowly curling into a smirk. ’But that won’t work! Especially not with attacks like that!’
