Manaless Mage-Chapter 206: Shocking Victory
Chapter 206: Shocking Victory
With his boosted agility, Lance barely managed to dodge the first three spikes.
Whoosh!
However, a small spike abruptly shot towards him from behind, piercing right through his left knee.
"Arrgh!" He grunted in pain, his movements slowing as he struggled to maintain his balance.
Those few seconds of distraction were more than enough for the remaining spikes to close in on him, stabbing fiercely into his legs.
"Ahhh!!" He shouted in agony, and he lost his balance, tumbling to the ground.
The water spikes lodged in his legs suddenly dissolved into normal liquid, before flowing back to the ground.
However, the wounds they inflicted on his legs remained, and blood slowly bled from them, dying his clothes red.
He tried channeling his elemental mana to cast a spell, but due to the stinging pain, he could barely focus.
Trent simply stared at him with his lips curled into a sinister smirk, enjoying the image of his opponent writhing before him.
This had been his plan from the start. He knew Lance would be easily be able to block the droplet darts, so he made sure a large number of them fell to the ground, filling it with water.
It was from the water on the ground he then conjured the spikes, which surrounded Lance from all directions.
Since the water was formed from his elemental mana, controlling it to cast another spell wasn’t too difficult for him.
"I should have known..." Lance mumbled, gritting his teeth in annoyance.
"You should have just surrendered when the fight started, you have no chance against me." Trent said, letting out a low snicker.
"Wind Needles." He muttered, and almost immediately, three needles materialised out of the air in front of him.
Whoosh!
With a simple mental command from him, the wind needles flew towards Lance at rapid speed.
The Elementalist’s eyes widened in shock, as the sharp projectiles rapidly closed in on him.
He hurriedly tried to stand on his feet, in a bid to dodge the attacks, but all he could do was wriggle on the ground, due to his injured legs.
In the next second, the needles closed in on him, one stabbing deep into his back, and the other two piercing straight into his shoulders.
"Arrgh!" He grunted loudly in pain, his whole body trembling as blood bled out of his wounds.
He tried to hold back the pain, however, he eventually lost consciousness, and his head fell flat to the ground.
’As expected, piece of cake.’ Trent mumbled inwardly, letting out a scoff.
[And the winner, is none other than Trent Morton! What a one-sided duel!]
The commentator’s excited voice rung across the hall, and the audience bursted into cheers.
An instructor came unto the stage to heal Lance’s injuries, before walking him into the back stage.
The boy’s head was hung down in shame, and he couldn’t help but feel like he embarrassed himself.
’I couldn’t even launch a single attack...’ He thought, the images of how easily Trent eliminated him flashing through his mind.

After a few minutes, the competition progressed unto the next match, which was from group three.
[And unto the next match of the event! Harry Ainsworth Vs Kurt Nadal!!]
The commentator announced, and the audience exploded into a round of cheers.
The two participants gently stood up from their group section, before walking down to the stage.
Within a few minutes, they climbed onto the stage, before taking their respective positions.
Flying around the stage and the hall in general, were small drones, whose sole purpose was to record the fight and broadcast it to the whole of Vernil.
The other two stages of the event weren’t broadcasted, but it was a different story for the final stage of the ranking competition.
This was especially true due to the upcoming world academy tournament.
[A/N: I should have said this before, I’m sorry, I forgot.]
Harry’s gaze lingered on one of the drones for a few seconds, and a weird glint flashed across his eyes.
’It completely skipped my mind before, but this event is actually being broadcasted.’ Harry thought, with a slight smirk on his face.
"Hey, focus on your opponent. Don’t think you’ll win this easily." Kurt suddenly said, breaking him out of his thoughts.
"Huh?" Harry muttered, his gaze turning to the black haired boy in front of him.
[And with that, let the duel begin!]
Following the announcement, the audience bursted into cheers.
The moment the duel started, Kurt swiftly started casting his spell.
"Stone Barrage!" He shouted, and almost immediately, twenty small pebbles appeared in front of him.
Whoosh!
With a simple mental command, the small stones shot towards Harry at rapid speed.
Harry’s brows furrowed slightly, and he swiftly channelled some of his energy into his legs, greatly boosting his speed.
Utilizing his heightened speed, he quickly dashed to the side, moving away from the trajectory of the attacks.
The rocks all flew past him, before knocking into the transparent barrier covering the stage, instantly dissolving into tiny brown dots.
’He’s fast!’ Kurt thought, his eyes narrowing in annoyance. One moment Harry was in front of him, and in the next he suddenly vanished! He couldn’t even follow his speed.
’I should end this quickly.’ Harry thought, with a slight smirk on his face, as he brought his moments to a halt.
"Lightning Ball." He muttered, stretching his hand towards the Elementalist.
Blitz!!!
Immediately, a large ball of lightning appeared in front of him, cracking violently with blue electricity.
’What the...’ Kurt’s eyes widened in shock, seeing the large ball of lightning floating in front of Harry.
Blitz!!
The ball surged towards him, streaking through the air with rapid speed, leaving behind a faint trail of blue electricity.
He hurriedly tried moving to the side in a bid to escape the incoming attack, however, before he could even think, the lightning ball slammed into his torso with immense force.
Blitz!!
Blue electric sparks crackled around it even more fiercely, and in the next second, the ball went off in a powerful blast of lightning.
"Arrgh!!" Kurt grunted loudly in pain, as the blast sent him flying backwards, and his body crashed outside the stage.
Lightning coursed through his body, fiercely electrocuting him.
’How the... hell... is he so... powerful...?’ That was the last thought that crossed his mind, before he finally lost consciousness, his body collapsing to the ground outside the stage.
Even after losing consciousness, his body continued to twitch involuntarily, with residual electricity still sparking around him intermittently.
The event hall was plunged into silence as the audience watched at the scene in front of them with wide open mouths.
What they found shocking was how Harry easily knocked out his opponent.
Even more, with such a basic spell like "lightning ball". However, the thing that shocked them the most was how much power was contained in that attack!
Despite the fact being in their faces, it was still very hard to believe. Never had any one of them seen a tier one spell that powerful.
[What an amazing display of power!]
The commentator’s voice broke them out of their thoughts, and they started cheering once more in excitement.
[The winner of this duel! Harry Ainsworth!]
’No quest this time again?’ Harry thought, his brows narrowed slightly. It annoyed him a little that he still didn’t receive any quest during this fight, but he didn’t ponder on it too much.
He was sure he would get a good quest in this final competition.
He sighed lightly, before walking out of the stage.

Meanwhile,
A couple could be seen sitting on a three-seater sofa while staring at the Tv in front of them.
The husband, an average height man with dark brown hair and black eyes rested his elbow on the arm of the sofa.
His eyes shone with pride, and he couldn’t stop his lips from curling into a proud smile as he watched the Tv.
His wife was also beside him, a woman with light brown hair and black eyes. Her appearance could only be described as average, as everything about her was plain.
If Harry was here, he would recognise these two as his biological parents—the Morton family.
[And the winner, is none other than Trent Morton! What a one-sided duel!]
An excited voice echoed from the Tv, causing the smiles on their faces to broaden even more.
"You see! Trent qualified!" The woman shouted in joy, turning to the man seated beside her.
"Yeah. I already knew he would qualify, after all, he’s my son." The man replied, the smile on his face widening in pride. "Thanks to you, we missed his first duel, and almost missed this one."
"Huh? How’s that my fault?" The woman replied, folding her arms in annoyance. "And he’s my son too." fгeewebnovёl.com
"I don’t have time to indulge you. I’m just happy our son won, I always knew he was destined for greatness." The man said, barely holding back the urge to roll his eyes.
They were currently watching the ranking competition live on their television. There was a popular channel, exclusive to the academic events of Vane academy which was broadcasting it live.
They tuned it rather late, so they missed the first rounds, only starting from the second.
[And unto the next match of the event! Harry Ainsworth Vs Kurt Nadal!!]
The commentator’s voice reverberated from the television again, and the man’s eyes furrowed slightly in confusion.
’Harry...’ He thought, his eyes narrowing slightly. For some reason, hearing that name made him remember a certain person.
"Hey, what’s wrong?" His wife who was beside him asked in worry.
However, the man didn’t reply, and his eyes remained glued to the television screen.
Just then, the camera shifted, showing the face of a handsome boy with dark brown hair gently climbing up the stage.
’I’ve never seen this student before... but why does he seem quite familiar?’ The man mumbled inwardly, his expression twisting into a deep frown.
