Chapter 205: Nathan’s Mana Aura

Seeing the rockets landed on Nathan, Brenda made a fist pump, while panting heavily.

She was already nearing her limit, while Nathan didn’t even seem like he was going all out against her.

All she could do now was hope that powerful explosion was enough to knock him out, because she doubted she could even last for two more minutes.

Her eyes squinted slightly, as she stared into the explosion, eager to see what remained of the combat mage after that attack.

Finally, the flames and smoke cleared, revealing Nathan standing within them, completely unharmed!

He had a smug smirk on his face, and his sword was held tightly within his right hand.

His body was coated with a thick yellow aura, which wavered around him like a flame. The yellow aura also extended down to his sword, thinly covering it.

Except for his clothes which were a little rumpled up at the edges, the rest of his body didn’t even have single bruise.

He calmly lifted his gaze up, the smirk on his face widening as his eyes locked with Brenda’s.

Brenda’s eyes widened in shock, and she subconsciously stepped backwards, feeling a chill run down her spine.

’I poured my all into that attack... and it didn’t leave a single bruise on him?!’ She thought, gnashing her teeth in anger.

Besides, the sight of that thick mana coating his body like a flame deeply unnerved her.

Never in her life had she seen a combat mage use something like that, in fact, all the ones she had faced in the past could barely stand after three explosive attacks from her.

She was no longer at full power, and even the fiery lines running through her body had already dimmed a little.

Her mana was already running out, and yet, Nathan just came out with this strange ability.

’Why didn’t he use it all these while, was I... just too weak?’ Brenda thought, her hands trembling in frustration.

Nathan gently walked forward, rotating his sword around his finger.

’I didn’t expect I would have to use the full extent of my mana aura in this fight.’ He thought, with a weird glint on his eyes.

Just before the rockets hit him, he quickly unleashed the full extent his mana aura, which was the only reason the explosion didn’t injure him.

Mana aura coated his body like a flame, greatly boosting his defense and his physical abilities. With it active, even bullets wouldn’t be able to pierce through his skin.

Although he had been utilizing mana aura from the beginning, he only thinly coated his body with it.

The yellow flame wasn’t visible like it was now, and unless one was very proficient in sensing mana, they wouldn’t notice it.

However, with the power he sensed from those rockets, he knew holding it back would surely be dangerous for him.

He was also quite lucky, because two of the attacks missed their target, landing on the ground in front of him instead.

"Flame Missile!" Brenda shouted, jolting him out of his thoughts.

Boom!

A large missile burning with red fire blasted at him from above, rapidly descending down upon him.

’I thought that last attack took a lot from her, but I guess she still has some juice left to fight.’ Nathan thought, swiftly swinging his sword downwards.

Whoosh!

Immediately, a long crescent-wave of mana shot out from his blade, flying straight towards the incoming missile.

Compared to the last slash wave, this one was a lot thicker and sharper, mostly due to the flame of mana coating his blade.

Swoosh!

Within a split second, the blade collided with the blazing projectile mid-air, effortlessly slicing it into two halves.

The cut halves of the missile crumbled to the ground, disintegrating into tiny red dots.

After slicing through the attack, the crescent-shaped blade continued flying through the air, until it crashed into the invisible barrier covering the stage, disintegrating into tiny particles.

Brenda gulped harshly when she saw how Nathan effortlessly sliced her attack into two, however, she couldn’t dwell on that for long as the combat mage suddenly vanished from her sight.

’Where—’ Her eyes widened in shock, but she soon got her answer, as Nathan reappeared beside her in her flash, with his blade aimed right at her shoulder.

With a quick thrust of his sword, Nathan pierced through Brenda’s shoulder, leaving a deep gash.

"Arrgh!" The Elementalist grunted in pain, as thick red blood sprayed out of the wound.

Ignoring the pain stemming from the cut, she hurriedly stretched her hand towards the combat mage, before casting another spell.

Fwoosh!!

"Fire Blast!" She shouted, and from the blazing circle on her palm, a large amount of fire immediately blasted towards Nathan.

However, when the flames finally died down, Nathan was nowhere to be found!

Suddenly, she felt a familiar presence appear behind her, causing her eyes to widen in shock.

Thwack!!

But before she could turn around, Nathan swiftly kicked her on her knee, sending slight tremors all over her body.

"Argh!" Brenda groaned in pain, and the force behind the kick knocked her down to the ground.

The fiery lines around her body started flickering rapidly, before crumbling into tiny particles, that vanished into thin air.

Her mana had finally exhausted, and she couldn’t keep the spell up anymore.

’I thought with my increased speed, I would be able to keep... but he’s just too fast!’ She thought, gritting her teeth in annoyance.

The consequences of mana exhaustion immediately hit her like a tsunami, and her whole body became weak.

A sharp, ringing headache pulsed from her head, combined with the painful kick from Nathan, rendering her unable to lift a muscle.

All she could do was lay down helplessly on the ground, before finally losing consciousness.

Seeing that his opponent was already knocked out, Nathan let out a low sigh, before canceling his mana aura.

The bright yellow flame around his body swiftly disintegrated into tiny particles, vanishing into thin air.

[After a thrilling battle, we finally have a winner! Nathan Lane!!]

The commentator’s voice echoed across the stage, and the audience of students burst into cheers.

A female instructor came unto the stage, healing Brenda with her water magic.

She also gave Nathan some healing and mana recovery pills, to help him regain his stamina before the next fight.

He quickly took the pills, before walking out of the stage, however, not before flashing a wide smile at a certain brown haired boy.

Meanwhile, at the group three section, Harry’s gaze lingered on Nathan, who simply flashed him a smile.

Nonetheless, he didn’t ponder too much on that, simply pushing it to the back of his head.

The main thing on his mind was the aura mana covering Nathan during the later parts of the fight.

’I wonder if I can do something like that with my energy.’ Harry thought, with a slight smirk on his face, making up his mind to try it out later.

Though he could coat his body with energy, he couldn’t do it on such a large scale. The most he could currently do was cover only a part of his body with it, not his whole body.

’I’ll also ask him about it, perhaps he could give me some tips.’ He mumbled inwardly, nodding his head slightly.

*

[Onto the next match of the event! Trent Morton Vs Lance Hutton!!]

The commentator excitedly announced the next fight, and the hall went up in a loud series of cheers and shouts.

After a few minutes, the two students climbed unto the stage.

The both of them frowned at each other, shooting daggers at each other with their gazes alone.

[Let the match begin!]

The moment the commentator announced the start of the fight, Lance swiftly dashed towards Trent, with his right hand pulled backwards.

’Know your place.’ Trent thought, raising his right hand.

"Droplet Darts." He said, and immediately numerous droplets of water appeared all around him, even extending to the ends of the stage.

Seeing the droplets of water surrounding Trent, Lance felt a chill run down his spine, and he instinctively halted his steps.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

With a sharp wave of Trent’s hand, the droplets shot towards his opponent at insane speed, their ends pointed like a sharp needle.

"Flame wall!" Lance shouted, casting his spell just as the attacks were about to close him on him.

Fwoosh!!

A thin wall of fire swiftly rose up in front of him, shielding him from the incoming projectiles.

Szzz!!!

The droplets collided against the fire wall instead, instantly evaporating into vapour.

After defending him from the attacks, the flame wall rapidly dissolved into tiny particles, before evaporating into thin air.

"Flame Dash!" Lance shouted, and almost immediately, fire erupted around his feet, greatly boosting his speed.

However, as he drew closer to Trent, he noticed... something was wrong.

"Aqueous spike!" Trent suddenly shouted, and from the ground surrounding Lance, numerous spikes of water suddenly rose up, before shooting towards him.
