The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World-Chapter 562- Tales of a Gutsy Knight
The Queen, who was back in control of her body, looked at him with eyes that were flickering with emotions. "You didn’t have to give me something so precious."
From Minerva, she knew that the egg was truly extraordinary and an unparalleled treasure. It would be more useful and valuable in his hands, yet he chose to give it to her. It showed how much he cared about her.
"I made a divine oath, and I plan to keep it." Reinhardt looked at the Queen and spoke of his intentions.
No doubt the egg was an extremely precious item, so much so that even Reinhardt, with his various cheat-like abilities, could only get hold of only one egg.
In terms of rarity, it was one of a kind, or in other words an SUR (Super Ultra Rare) item that was rarer than even UR (Ultra Rare).
The beast that would hatch out of it will, of course, not be ordinary.
Since he had taken a divine oath and made her his priority, he had to make sure that she was protected properly. And the beast he chose for her would no doubt ensure it.
After observing the egg and making a mental note of how long it would take the egg to hatch, Reinhardt told the Queen a few secrets on hatching the egg faster.
This instantly turned her face red.
Using this chance, he said goodbye and left decisively.
Just before he left, the Queen cautioned.
"Be careful near the borders; there has been some disturbing movements from the side of the Kingdom of Lunaris."
Reinhardt nodded and set his destination... the Kingdom of Rune.
The last time they used the sea route to travel to Rune. However, one can also travel via land to Rune, though it is more of a longcut. However, since he had regrouped with Bob and the others who led the members of the Order who were stationed back in Snowpoint City, they had to take the land route.
After joining with the rest of the members of the Temple of Light, the order made its way to the Kingdom of Rune.
Sure, the route that they were traveling through was a longcut. That is, if you travel through the laid out standard path. However, with Reinhardt leading, how could they take such a tenuous route?
Needless to say, the order pioneered their own way through mountain and valley, mowing down any monster nest on the way.
.
.
While the order of the Temple of Light made their way to the Kingdom of Rune in another area of the world.
The place was somewhere within the western frontier. The skies were a fractured canvas of storm and sunlight, torn open by violent winds, and the lands a range of jagged mountains.
The place was treacherous and filled with danger at every corner. Because of the high mortality rate, the area has been designated a Class S forbidden zone by the neighboring kingdoms.
Yet in such a highly dangerous place, two figures could be seen pressing forward across a narrow stone bridge suspended over a bottomless abyss.
One walked calmly as if this were just a stroll in the garden for her.
The other, let’s just say was not enjoying the vacation that much.
"WHY IS THIS TRIAL SO ANNOYING?!"
Vengeance roared in frustration as a sudden, violent gust of wind tore through his clothes and nearly swept him off the bridge.
He was a powerful True Knight who had not only learned various broken holy skills imparted by Reinhardt but also mastered the Transcendent State of [One with the Sword] and was making steady progress towards [Heart of the Sword].
Even some level 7 knights might not be his opponent. Yet even he was struggling to keep up in such a place.
From this, one could see that the land designated as Class S forbidden zone was not without reason.
While Vengeance struggled to keep up Silvia plowed through the trial like a breeze. She didn’t even glance back, her silver hair waving with the wind like a silver light of defiance.
The sharp gales tried to break through her defense. However they were slashed with a single swing of her sword.
The danger here did not pose much threat to her, who was already one step towards joining the ranks of Level 8 Elite Knight. Nevertheless, the area was a decent ground for practicing the Fourth Light of the [Holy Sword Art].
"You’re the one who accepted the Altar’s trial. Try not to die before we finish it." Reaching the other end of the bridge, she turned towards the person lagging behind.
"I’M NOT TRYING TO DIE!" Vengeance yelped.
He was already frustrated over the trial’s ridiculousness, so when he heard those words from Silvia, he was practically on the verge of erupting like a volcano in anger.
WHOOSH.
Just then, a large shadow passed overhead.
Looking above the two saw a massive winged beast, half wyvern, half thunderhawk, soared above them, its wings stirring lightning in its wake.
Silvia’s hand went to her sword while Vengeance’s went to his face, and he facepalmed himself.
"Of course, this flying death chicken is guarding the bridge."
Seeing a legendary Class S Storm Sovereign would cause anyone to turn weak in their legs and flee at the first sign. However, Vengeance did not look surprised.
Other than cursing the ridiculousness of the trial, his face did not show any other emotion.
That’s right, the reason why they were intruding inside a designated Class S forbidden zone was not because they had a death wish, but because it was one of the trials given by the Altar to Vengeance.
After reaching level 6, one cannot level up like before. To progress from this stage, one needed to accumulate contributions.
Contribution can be earned through expeditions, community services, or by fighting demons and such. In short, any action that affects the world in a positive way is counted as contribution.
Contribution is required because it is the factor that will decide your class and your future growth. Rare classes are offered to those with high and unique contributions.
While contribution is one of the factors for leveling up, it is not the only one.
Trials... even if one possesses enough contribution points, if they do not complete the trial, they cannot take the next step.
Trials are unique obstacles, or in knight terms, missions that a knight must complete to progress further. It can be anything from slaying demons and monsters to rescuing citizens or gathering certain items.
Trials are not fixed and depend on the characteristics of the knight taking the trial. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Only after one has made a sufficient contribution and passed the trial can they level up.
In Vangeance’s case, he did not lack contribution points. In fact, the many missions and expeditions the Temple of Light had gone through were enough to rake up a lot of contribution points and bestow a rare class.
So the only thing left was to pass the trial.
After Vengeance and Silvia left Snowpoint City to go on a journey, they first arrived at the capital and accessed the Altar in the Cathedral.
From there, they received the trial for Vengeance before heading out.
Right now, they were here in the Class S Forbidden Zone because one of the trials bestowed by the Altar for Vengeance was to obtain the egg of the Storm Sovereign.
After gathering information from the Adventurers Association and locals, their path ultimately led them here.
A frontal encounter with the Storm Sovereign.
"Tch bastard, you dare show your face in front of me again? I’ll grill you and have fried chicken for dinner." Vengeance spat and unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards the beast.
This was not his first time encountering the Storm Sovereign. In fact, he had encountered the beast quite a few times before.
Each time it briefly showed its appearance before leaving. One time it even led Vengeance by the nose, causing him to fall into the pit of humongous Antlions and almost lose his life in this vast mountain range.
It was for this reason that he was so irritated.
Already used to his antics, Silvia sighed in exasperation and reminded. "Hey, the trial is to get the Storm Sovereign’s egg, not fight it. You can always ask for my help if you find it difficult."
"Hmph, Silvia, I told you not to intervene. I can pass this trial on my own, just stand there and watch. I don’t know why the Altar wants me to obtain its egg, but this saves me the trouble. I’ll beat this guy into submission and force it to show me its nest."
As if understanding what the human before it just said, the large beast flying in the sky made a condescending expression.
If a beast’s expression could be studied, the study would show that the beast was saying ’Idiot’.
A sentient glow appeared in its eyes, showing that the beast was highly intelligent.
