I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 265: Early Warning
At night, Ruka finally finished dealing with the backlog of cases.
He loosened his tie, rotated his neck, and picked up a box to head towards Qiao Suisui’s palace.
He had seen a Wisdom Card recently, which everyone like Angsi had—one per person. It could project holographic games and shows, and its visual effects were better than those of a Light Computer. He had ordered one, and it had been delivered today.
Angsi had teased him, "Colonel, I didn’t know when you started getting so trendy. You used to not even go on Star Network, and now you know what’s in fashion."
Indeed, Ruka wasn’t interested in what was trendy at all, but he thought Suisui liked new things.
It seemed to start after their children had all grown up—he was somewhat afraid of drifting into blandness with her.
Ruka was usually a man of few words, hardly had any hobbies besides work, and he worried she might find him too boring and gradually lose interest in him.
As the man approached the inner hall’s door, he saw Zong Fang coming out from inside.
From the doorway, Ruka caught a glimpse of the person lying on the bed and frowned slightly.
"Is she still sleeping?"
Zong Fang closed the door, blocking his view.
"Yes, she’s tired."
Ruka looked at him, noticed his half-open shirt collar, and the fragrance of Lily of the Valley on his body, and he knew without guessing what they had done.
He pressed the throbbing vein on his forehead, holding back his anger. "How could you do the same as Carl?"
Zong Fang turned his face slightly and said, "Haven’t you done it too?"
Ruka pushed him, "I thought at least you could control her!"
Zong Fang didn’t retaliate, leaning against the door with drooping shoulders, looking somewhat exhausted.
He gave a bitter smile, "Who could dictate her choices?"
That was the only method he had to keep her.
Ruka quickly noticed that Zong Fang’s condition was off.
He frowned, "What happened?"
Zong Fang remained silent.
Ruka pushed him aside, went through the door, and strode to the bedside.
He raised his hand and softly stroked her hair, "Suisui, wake up, let’s eat something and then sleep, okay?"
But no matter how many times he called her, the girl on the bed showed no signs of waking up.
A hint of panic appeared on Ruka’s face as he picked her up to check her, and seeing the needle mark on her neck, he fiercely turned to Zong Fang.
"What did you inject her with?"
Zong Fang stood there, like a soulless specter.
"Ativan."
"Are you insane? She’s pregnant! Are you fucking sick?"
"I controlled the dosage."
Ignoring him, Ruka quickly turned on his Light Computer to call Leberli, but Zong Fang held him back.
"Don’t make me hurt you."
Ruka radiated an intense killing intent, unlike ever before.
Yet Zong Fang merely said, "She’s leaving, did you know?"
Ruka froze.
"She said there’s some trouble in her world, so she has to leave, and she might not come back anytime soon."
Zong Fang knelt by the bed, gently stroking her cheek, his eyes tender and sorrowful.
"What can I do? You tell me, what should I do?"
Ruka’s hands trembled as he struggled to regulate his breathing.
Half a moment later, just as Zong Fang thought he had agreed to his actions, Ruka suddenly picked up Qiao Suisui from the bed.
"Where are you taking her? Put her down!"
Zong Fang reached out to snatch her away, but fearing he might hurt her, he found himself at a disadvantage.
Ruka, holding Qiao Suisui, left the palace and rushed down the halls, shouting, "Someone, call the medical team!"
The Imperial Court was in uproar during the night.
Soon, Leberli, Carl, and Anubis arrived. Zong Fang stood aside, his face grim.
As Ruka had the medical team check on Qiao Suisui, Leberli held her hand and used his healing Talent to hasten her awakening.
Carl, feeling conflicted, looked at Zong Fang and asked, "Did she mention what trouble she’s in?"
Zong Fang, seeming drained of strength, remained silent, staring blankly at her.
Anubis rarely got angry, but now he stared intently at Zong Fang, ready to explode any moment. "Whatever the situation, you had no right to inject her with that drug! And no right to decide for her!"
"She’s awake."
That statement drew the rapt attention of all the men present.
Leberli withdrew his Talent and clutched her hand nervously, whispering, "Suisui, do you feel any discomfort? Any nausea?"
He was worried about the side effects of the drug, although Zong Fang’s injection was modified, he still feared it might make her uncomfortable.
Qiao Suisui felt her body heavy, as if dragged out of water.
Sitting up and leaning on Ruka, memories came flooding back, and she tensed up. "I must go back immediately."
Zong Fang nearly gritted his teeth, a domineering aura emanating from his body. "I won’t allow you to go back!"
Anubis stepped in front of Qiao Suisui, his gaze challenging Zong Fang, ready to drag him into Dark Hunting.
Carl stood still, his eyes reflecting struggle.
He stepped forward, grabbing her hand, and asked, "Do you have to go back? Or can we help you solve this?"
Leberli didn’t speak, but contemplation flickered in his eyes, thinking of how to keep her here.
Qiao Suisui turned and hugged Ruka, her speech involuntarily quickening, "Ruka, I need to go to the Ruins Eye, right now."
"Alright." There was not a moment’s hesitation in Ruka.
"You are not allowed to go!" Zong Fang’s eyes reddened as he bellowed at her, "I won’t allow you to go. You dare leave! Qiao Suisui! You dare leave!"
His voice was heart-wrenching; even as Anubis and Carl held him back, he still desperately reached out to grab her.
Qiao Suisui explained, "If I don’t go, you and this world will be erased. We won’t be able to see each other ever again."
She had just sorted out her thoughts amidst the chaos. It must have been during her last activation of Time Retrospect that she was discovered; the previous two times were at the Ruins Eye, which as a game bug, had indirectly sheltered her.
She couldn’t just sit and wait for disaster.
Now, Qiao Suisui had to go to the Ruins Eye, using the bug’s cover to contact Ye Xi and discuss a solution.
If she recklessly used the stream code to contact Ye Xi right now, it would be like delivering the evidence straight to the supervisor.
She tried to soothe Zong Fang, not noticing Ruka’s pupils dilate momentarily when she mentioned ’erasure’.
Memories that weren’t Ruka’s suddenly surfaced in his mind. He frowned, holding his forehead, a cold sweat breaking out due to the overwhelming influx of information.
"Characters, erasure..."
Ruka grasped Qiao Suisui’s wrist, asking, "Is there more than this world, other worlds?"
Qiao Suisui froze. She had never shared this with them before; how did Ruka know?
She felt that circumstances were such that she had to reveal it now.
"Yes. This is my save-point world, and besides this one, there are many other save-point worlds, but the players in those are not me, but others."
The men were evidently shocked.
Ruka was the quickest to recover. Looking at Qiao Suisui, he took a deep breath and said, "I feel like I might be able to control the ’me’ in those other worlds."
