Chapter 242: We’ll have to get home first

Serena surely got Maxwell’s ’appreciation’ and was practically livid, turning pale at the sight of the finger and the letter but there was nothing she could do but scream and yell at no one in particular.

She blew up in rage, cussing, screaming and yelling like a mad woman. How plans had been ruined. All of it. She couldn’t even show her face anywhere because her face was all over every news.

A warning from the German Empire and also the great reveal of all that she had done, including funding and conducting experiments with live humans, trying to perfect the effects of some drug which has the purpose of wiping a person’s memory.

The drug made people go mad eventually because they couldn’t take the pain in their head. The pounding was so awful that they would rather hit their heads against a wall, causing their heads to bleed but they still wouldn’t stop.

This was one of her practices before she kidnapped Alexa. She used the nearly finished product on Alexa and that was why she still had those headaches from time to time, making her rely on the same drugs that were gradually killing her.

All her evil and cruel schemes and the way she had plunged a lot of people into their early deaths, as well as Asylums.

She was so cruel.

"I declare a state of emergency." The government was not quiet about this as well. "Serena Stein must not go Scott free."

"I would say we did a really astounding job." Jane remarked as they got out of the airport.

"Are you just realizing it?" Maxwell asked with a sneer and she frowned. "I’m just that awesome."

She rolled her eyes.

"Who knew you were such a narcissist?"

"What? I’m just stating the obvious." Maxwell said and pressed her down with his arm, causing her to feel even more annoyed and she elbowed his chest.

"Get off me, you psychopath."

"Ouch, that actually hurts." He feigned pain and her eyes widened. She had completely forgotten that he wasn’t in the best of condition and his arm might not be the only thing injured.

"I’m sorry. Did I hurt you?" She acted concerned but Maxwell grinned and grabbed her hand.

"Couldn’t feel a thing."

"You..."

"Max?" They heard Paige’s voice and both turned.

As soon as Maxwell saw his wife, he hurried to meet her and hugged her tight with his functioning arm.

"Oh my sweet wifey, I missed you ever so dearly." He said and Jane rolled his eyes.

"So now he’s a poet." She muttered.

Paige hugged him back and looked at his caste.

"Does it hurt?" She asked but he shook his head.

"This little thing can’t weigh me down. I’ll be taking it off in a few days." His confidence was beyond comparison but she was glad he was fine.

"That’s glad to hear." She said and shifted her gaze to Jane.

"Hello, it’s been a while." Jane said and Paige smiled.

"Yes. I hope you didn’t feel too stressed with this operation." She said, "Especially since you had to deal with my husband all the while. He can be a piece of work sometimes."

"He was indeed a piece of work but it’s nothing I couldn’t handle."

"Wifey, don’t pay all your attention to her." Maxwell said, grabbing Paige by the waist. "I did very well this time, right? When do I get my reward?"

"We’ll have to get home first." Paige said, gently stroking his chin, making him extremely elated.

Jane watched them and was glad that they were still as strong as ever.

"Then, I’ll catch you later." She said, "I think I’ll head to Stein’s mansion first so I can drop my things and go see Alexa." She waved and Maxwell waved back.

"See you. Don’t cry in front of her though. You’ll only mess up the mood." He said, causing her to give him her middle finger without saying a word and left.

Maxwell tittered and Paige noticed this. He was having a lot of fun, wasn’t he? A little too much, wasn’t it?

"You two seem close." She remarked at the same time she had said it the previous time but Maxwell took it lightly.

"Oh, it’s nothing. She’s just a stubborn little thing." He said, a little amused, glanced down at his wife and asked, "Then, shall we go?"

"Yes. Let’s go."

As soon as they got to their house, or was it their apartment? Anyway, as soon as they got home, they got into a heated kiss before gradually taking off everything.

It was a relief that Maxwell didn’t jump her while they were still in the car. He was holding back a great deal because he never liked it when people saw his wife vulnerable and sexually appealing, so as soon as they were within closed doors, he took the initiative. But since he was still in his caste, it was rather difficult to make haste while taking off his shirt so they left it on.

They reunited like two young couples who had been away for years, letting their body do the talking of how much they missed each other and reaching the height of ecstasy with every thrust.

At the end of it, Maxwell laid on top of Paige, using her chest as his pillow.

"You’re always heavy." She remarked and he smiled.

"It’s because you feed me well."

She smiled as well but her mind was immediately swayed as she remembered he smiled like this for another woman. Now, she was forced to wonder, what exactly was it that he felt for her? Was it something similar to the feelings he had for herself? Was it just a budding stage?

If it turned out that all he felt for her all the while, simply steamed up from his desire as well as his obsession to own her and he was now feeling the same for another, what would she do?

"Wifey." Maxwell called. "Your heart is beating so fast. Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I’m fine." She said, "After doing that with you, do you think my heart will beat normally just after a minute of rest?"

"Was it that good?" He asked with a mischievous grin.

"You ask this every time." Paige said and covered her face. "If you weren’t good enough, do you think my moans would be that loud?"

"Then," he gazed at her with hungry eyes. "Let’s do it again."

She knew it would come to that. Sadly, they didn’t have much time to waste so she gently pushed his face away from hers and said,

"We need to get to the mansion in an hour so we can’t."

"Then I’ll just make it quick." Maxwell said.

And from the looks of it, his mood would turn sour if she didn’t give in so she just let out a sigh and nodded.

She wasn’t even done nodding when Maxwell pounced on her.
