Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It-Chapter 183: "Be cooperative, don’t look so unwilling.
"I’m not with Zhou Mochen, but... he also doesn’t know I have a boyfriend." Xu Su’s tone was pleading, pitiful. "Shen Chen, please don’t tell Zhou Mochen, okay? I’ll break up with him. I’ll do it soon."
"Wait," Shen Chen said, a little stunned. "You’re not with Brother Zhou? Then what was all that at the beginning of the year?"
Xu Su hesitated. She didn’t want to admit she was so afraid of Zhou Mochen that she had to keep her relationship a secret. But Shen Chen wasn’t easy to fool, and if she didn’t explain things clearly, who knew what he might do.
She began hesitantly, "That day, I went to a karaoke bar with some classmates, and Zhou Mochen caught me. My boyfriend was in our private room, so I didn’t dare bring him with me. I had no choice but to go with him to your room."
After her brief explanation, Xu Su asked in return, "Based on what you know of Zhou Mochen, if he found out I had a boyfriend, what would he do?"
Shen Chen raised an eyebrow, a look of sudden understanding on his face. His tone was laced with sarcasm. "So, you’re that scared of him, yet you still got a boyfriend behind his back? Xu, you’ve got some nerve."
"..." Xu Su gave an awkward laugh. "I was just in a rebellious phase. I felt he was too controlling and all I could think about was fighting back."
"Oh..." Shen Chen drew out the word meaningfully, then asked, "So, you only got a boyfriend to rebel against Brother Zhou?"
Xu Su fell silent. There was no way she could completely deny her feelings for Xi Zirong.
’How could she have agreed to be with Xi Zirong just to rebel against Zhou Mochen? No, that wasn’t it. The way her heart had genuinely skipped a beat—that wasn’t fake.’
"None of that matters. Just don’t tell Zhou Mochen about this. I’ll break up with him as soon as possible."
"Break up? After how passionately you two were kissing?" Shen Chen sneered. "Are you taking me for a fool?"
Thinking of the scene from moments ago, his voice was tinged with gritted-teeth anger. "Last time I saw you, I knew something was off. You’d just come from getting your lips kissed swollen by that little boyfriend of yours, hadn’t you?"
Xu Su: "...!"
In a flash, Xu Su’s memory shot back to that night.
She remembered how Shen Chen’s smile had suddenly frozen. ’So... he’d figured it out months ago?’
Xu Su lowered her head, mortified. "I really will break up with him."
"The way you were just now, all soft-hearted? You won’t be able to break up with him." Shen Chen reached out and lifted her chin, his eyes unreadable. "Xu Su, do you need me to teach you?"
Shen Chen’s reputation as a playboy was infamous throughout the aristocratic circles of Beijing. He’d probably lost count of the women he’d dumped. No matter how clingy a woman was, she’d never last more than three months with him.
Xu Su’s roommate from her past life, Shi Lin, had actually lasted the longest: a full six months. Six months by this rake’s side.
It was so long that many people, including Xu Su, thought Shen Chen had finally decided to settle down. But in the end, after six months, his heart was still made of stone, and nothing she did to win him back worked.
This was also why Xu Su found him so annoying. She didn’t have many people she could call a friend, and Shi Lin, as her roommate, barely counted as one. If Shen Chen had never given her hope, it would have been one thing, but he did.
He had shown Shi Lin a special preference, only to brutally crush it. As her roommate, Xu Su had witnessed Shi Lin’s complete breakdown, and of course, it was hard for her to watch.
But now, hearing the words of this master of romance, Xu Su’s eyes lit up, looking like a disciple about to receive sacred teachings. "Yes, teach me quickly." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Perhaps it was because she looked so adorable, but Shen Chen couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. The next second, he leaned in and kissed her.
His hand never left her chin. The kiss was so sudden that Xu Su had no time to pull away before her lips were captured. A stranger’s scent filled her nose as her mind went blank, unable to process what was happening.
Mindful of the injury on her neck, Shen Chen’s kiss was relatively restrained. Sensing the girl’s resistance and fearing she might hurt herself, he patiently let her go and warned softly, "Cooperate. Don’t look so unwilling."
Xu Su shook her head, trying to break free from the hand clamped on her chin.
She had already been caught off guard by the kiss, and the wound on her neck was throbbing painfully. Even slightly turning her head sent a sharp, pulling pain through it. Now, it felt as if all the oxygen was being sucked out of her. For a moment, Xu Su even thought she might pass out.
"Don’t you know how to breathe?" Shen Chen finally took pity on her and let go, a smirk on his face as he looked at the girl in his arms. "Didn’t that little boyfriend of yours teach you how to kiss?"
Xu Su sagged in his arms, gasping for breath. At his words, she looked up at him. "He’s not as battle-hardened as you."
’The thought that she’d actually been kissed by Shen Chen made Xu Su’s skin crawl. Who knew how many other women that mouth had kissed.’
The disgust in the girl’s eyes was unmistakable. Shen Chen’s gaze darkened. He reached out to caress her lips, kindly instructing, "Don’t show your dissatisfaction with a man while you’re in his arms. I’ll let it slide this time, Xu Su. Next time, don’t look at me like that."
Xu Su shoved him away. Just as she was about to lash out, she saw a familiar figure in front of the car window.
...Xi Zirong.
Her eyes flew wide as she instantly understood what Shen Chen meant when he said he would "teach her to break up."
Xu Su’s first instinct was to get out of the car and explain.
The next second, her wrist was grabbed in a death grip. "Didn’t you ask me to teach you how to break up? Xu Su, act normal. Perhaps you should take the initiative and give me a kiss."
Shen Chen was far less calm than he appeared. Fearing the girl would actually run out, he had already locked the doors and started the car.
"No, we shouldn’t break up like this." Xu Su struggled to break free from his grip. "He won’t be able to take it! Stop the car, Shen Chen, stop the car!"
Shen Chen’s driving skills were truly impressive. He paid her no mind, steering with one hand while pinning her down with the other, yet the car continued to move forward in a steady, straight line.
After driving a long way, he finally released her. "Looks like your little boyfriend didn’t follow, Xu Su. Better to rip the band-aid off. This way of breaking up is fast, ruthless, and precise."
In the rearview mirror, Xi Zirong’s figure remained motionless, as if the young man’s sincere feelings, along with his silhouette, were frozen in time on that midsummer afternoon.
Xu Su stared blankly until Xi Zirong’s figure was no longer visible. Finally, she couldn’t hold back any longer and covered her eyes, tears starting to fall.
Shen Chen shot her a glance, his tone indifferent. "What are you crying for? Didn’t you want to break up? You’ve pretty much succeeded. You should be happy."
Xu Su ignored him completely, consumed by her crying.
Perhaps her crying was too pitiful, because Young Master Shen stopped talking, his face grim for the rest of the drive as he suppressed his temper.
But she cried as if she would never stop. Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore, and his words were dripping with sarcasm, "Weren’t you the one going on and on about breaking up? If you’re so reluctant and your heart aches this much, then why break up at all? Just go face Brother Zhou with him."
"You just asked me what would happen if Brother Zhou found out about your little boyfriend. I can answer that for you now." After his bout of sardonic commentary, he turned his head to glance at Xu Su, his tone uncharacteristically serious. "The more you care about him, the faster he’ll die. I’m not kidding."
