His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 328: A Deal She Was Forced To Partake On.
Chapter 328: A Deal She Was Forced To Partake On.
Valeria dropped by Logan’s place after the day’s work. She met Vincent on her way upstairs and he informed her of Logan’s whereabouts even before she would ask.
"Boss hasn’t left his room since dawn," he told her.
Valeria nodded at him and with no pleasantries exchanged between them, they went their separate ways.
She felt less important to Logan. This was his top goal on earth and surprisingly, it had been achieved by him and perhaps someone else but he did not even care to share the news with her.
She would have appreciated him sharing the good news with her even if she should know from the viral news. He calls her a friend but he drifts far away each second and his layers even to her are more than that of a stranger.
She can’t tell what runs through his mind. She assumed they would grow for the better after he opened up to her but that was far from the case.
He hadn’t called or texted her since then and now she did, someone else replied to her call and even hung up on her. It annoyed her and she wondered why it couldn’t just be anyone, but Sarah.
She felt something going on between them but immediately pushed it to the back of her mind. Thinking about it, Sarah works for Logan and he might have given his phone to her work-related.
Her feet came to a halt when she stood before his door. Arranging her whole thoughts and emotions, she pushed his door open after placing a soft knock on it.
Logan pushed away from his computer screen and fixed his complicated gaze on his door. From the knock, he already knew who it could be.
However, he was shocked to see that it wasn’t daring Sarah but Valeria. He took his cigarette stick out of his mouth after a drag and when he did, he dramatically let the air out.
Valeria stood for a while and stared at him, puzzled, "You smoke?" she questioned, unable to hold her surprise in.
Logan nodded slowly, his eyes dark, "I do," he admitted, tapping the butt of the cigarette stick on his glass table to put it off, "It’s a habit I had to pick up from the street,"
Valeria swallowed, feeling sad. Whenever he talks about his life out there on the street, it leaves her heart broken. From her perspective, Logan’s entire existence and personality was the product of him becoming a victim of his circumstance.
She walked towards him and with a look of disapproval, she stood before him and said, "You’re no longer on the street, Logan," she reminded him and reached for his hand. When she got hold of his hand, she took the cigarette stick away from him and he let her.
"I still need you in my life and if you should develop this habit, I fear you might leave me broken for the second time again in this lifetime,"
Logan chuckled, "I don’t smoke often. I do that when I have to clear my head and right now, I have so many thoughts running through my mind. I feel as if I have a lot of things to do but I can’t figure out what they could be." true to his words, his voice sounded confused. He did not try to hide it from her.
Since there was no seat beside him for her to sit on unless she wanted to stay far away, she decided to sit at the table before him to stay close. Logan helped her to be more comfortable by shifting his computer set a little farther.
Silence ensured between them and they prolonged it by staring at each other. Valeria pushed her purse away and dangled her leg for a second in thought before speaking up.
"Are you happy?" her voice sounded curious. She expected to see him with a smile but the air around him was all gloomy and served a different vibe she never expected.
Logan made an expression that wordlessly said he found her question stupid. Valeria replied to that expression of his with hers urging him to give her a reply.
Releasing a breath from his lips, he decided to reply to her question but ended up asking his questions instead, "Am I happy? Should I be?"
Valeria frowned and then giggled in the next second, "Of course, you should be. Alfred is finally put behind bars, in one word you have finally avenged your family and I’m so proud of you," her voice sounded high-pitched, happiness flowing through each word.
Logan scoffed and looked at her like she lost her mind. "You think it’s that easy to find happiness?" he sounded sarcastic.
Valeria frowned immediately, "What are you trying to say? You and whoever might have joined you to open Alfred up are the heroes here, somehow you saved the world from a monster like him," she pointed out.
Logan scoffed dryly and ran his fingers through his hair, "Heros? I did nothing, I only sat down and watched how Nicklaus Wyatt beat me into becoming a hero before Arissa. And also, saving the world is annoying. I want the world on my palm and I’ll walk towards getting that since I no longer have a fixed goal but just the goal of making Arissa my wife,"
Valeria blinked, puzzled. She started at him with her jaw drooped to the floor in surprise. She took in a soft gulp, speechless.
Valeria cleared her throat and said in utter disbelief, "So after everything you went through and how your goal has finally been achieved, that’s all that matters? Making Arissaa yours?"
She looked broken from shock. She had come here to celebrate with a friend but sadly, she clearly didn’t know who the hell was seated before her anymore.
Logan shrugged his shoulders, "She is all that matters Valeria." he emphasized, "She was meant to be mine from the start and I was only cheated in the deal,"
"Logan," Valera gasped, "I don’t support you doing this. You can’t destroy her marriage for a deal she was forced to partake in. She doesn’t even know about it," she defended.
Logan chuckled, "I won’t force her into anything. I’ll only give her options and when I do, I promise you would be most entertained," he stood up from his seat to her face level and rubbed her cheek tenderly, "Don’t look so sad because of her. I won’t hurt anyone if she cooperates,"
