His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 97: Unworthy Of Her
Chapter 97 - Unworthy Of Her fгeewebnovёl.com
After Noran returned to the office, his presence was immediately felt throughout Paragon. The projects and tasks that had piled up over the past month, urgently needing his review and attention, were swiftly addressed.
Within a few days, Noran managed to clear an entire month's backlog of work and bring everything back on track. Everyone at Paragon was astonished by Noran's ability to handle the enormous backlog of work and steer the company back on course.
Roy entered the chairman's office, intending to praise Noran for his efficiency in handling the enormous backlog of work.
However, he was taken aback when he saw Noran engrossed in reading books. As he stepped closer, he noticed that Noran's table was filled with books on black magic, divination, mysticism, and fairies.
"What are you doing?" Roy asked, surprised.
Noran didn't look up from his book.
"Studying," he replied simply.
"Studying supernatural stuff?" Roy asked, raising an eyebrow. "Is our business heading into the supernatural now or something?"
Unlike some businesses, Paragon had never used divination to rise in the business world. It wasn't common in the West, but it appeared to be quite prevalent in the East, where business owners, celebrities, and even regular citizens sought help from mystics for their fortune, homes, relationships, and businesses.
"I need to know more about black magic and foresight."
Noran knew that even with the tremendous social power and status he had obtained, he couldn't protect Shuri against those who possessed divine abilities and knew how to use supernatural forces.
Now that he had lost his time blessing, he needed to learn something in case he had to face off against someone like Sigmund again.
Roy nodded, understanding Noran's intention. "That's reasonable. If I had gone through what you did, I would have done the same. If I hadn't experienced it firsthand, I wouldn't believe that bastard Sigmund had the ability to control minds."
The memories of him and his team getting mind-controlled back when they tried to break into Sigmund's premises to save Noran still sent shivers down his spine.
Noran's face darkened at the memory. They had been hunting down Sigmund, but there was still no news of him, which frustrated Noran tremendously. He was also worried that Sigmund might show up to harm Shuri again.
"I heard from your new assistant, Benjamin, that you're looking into a mystic called Master Hoon?" Roy continued. "I've heard about that famous mystic. He's rumored to be able to see the future, right?"
Noran nodded, closing the book he was reading. "Yes, but I'm skeptical about him."
Noran had received information on Ewan Hoon, publicly known as Master Hoon, yesterday.
Ewan was a highly popular mystic, sought after by many wealthy and influential people. His reputation was built on his uncanny ability to provide guidance that helped his clients grow their businesses and amass wealth.
It wasn't just the wealthy who sought him out; people from all walks of life came to him for advice on various matters, from personal relationships to major life decisions. Ewan's foresight and advice were considered invaluable, and his success stories were numerous.
However, getting an appointment with Ewan was no easy feat. His client base was enormous, and the demand for his services was exceptionally high. People often had to wait months, sometimes even years, for a chance to meet with him. Adding to the difficulty was Ewan's selective nature. He only wanted to meet those he considered worthy.
"Why? I heard he had a strong reputation and could even predict stock market trends and land acquisitions, just like you," Roy said, pausing for a moment before adding, "Speaking of which, how did you manage to do that? Did you also have the power of foresight? How did you accurately predict the fluctuating prices of those prime lands in Sol City, enabling us to win a critical bid at the lowest possible price?"
Roy was amazed at how Noran always seemed to accurately predict land prices, securing critical properties at the lowest bids.
Noran's uncanny ability to identify the best lands for future development, as if he had the power of foresight to see the future, never ceased to astonish him.
During the recent land auction in Sol City a day ago, Noran's strategic acumen had once again proven invaluable. He managed to secure prime lands at unbeatable prices, laying the foundation for a massive mixed-use development project.
This project, projected to yield substantial returns, further solidified Paragon's position as a top diversified investment conglomerate in the Eastern region. Noran's extraordinary skill and vision in the industry left everyone at Paragon in awe of his capabilities.
Noran couldn't possibly tell Roy that he had returned from the past, so he just brushed it off casually each time with, "I've just analyzed the economic and market trends. Nothing special."
Roy furrowed his brows in disbelief. "But it seemed almost too accurate. You managed to outbid some of the top competitors by such a margin that it seemed like you knew exactly what would happen."
"If I had the power of foresight, I would have prevented Rin from getting hurt," Noran commented, his voice low and serious, with a hint of regret.
Roy finally turned quiet at his remark. He knew his friend was still beating himself up for what happened to Shuri. "Hey man, it's not your fault. That bastard was the one who hurt both of you. You need to stop blaming yourself like that."
Despite Noran's remarkable efficiency at work, Roy knew his friend was still unstable. If Shuri hadn't insisted he return to work, Noran would have preferred to stay by her side every moment. It was as if he feared she might vanish if he wasn't there to protect her.
Shuri, understanding the toll it was taking on him, urged him to resume his normal routine. She believed it wasn't mentally healthy for him to hover over her constantly. As a compromise, she agreed to have bodyguards by her side and to provide Noran with constant updates about her condition.
Yet, Noran remained on edge.
He knew that if Sigmund decided to target Shuri again, no bodyguard could truly keep her safe. This thought haunted him, making it difficult to focus on anything else.
Every day, as soon as his work was done, Noran would leave the office and head straight to the hospital. The feeling of unease never left him, and he needed to see Shuri with his own eyes to ensure she was safe.
When Noran arrived at Shuri's ward, the bodyguards outside her room informed him about the visitors inside.
He nodded and entered the room, his eyes immediately seeking out Shuri, disregarding everyone else.
Shuri, seated on the bed, brightened up even more when she saw him.
"Ran, you're here early," she greeted warmly. If they had been alone, she would have gotten up to give him a hug.
Karlene, who was seated near Shuri's bedside, frowned and ignored Noran, looking down at her phone.
Similarly, Aera, there with Jin, also frowned upon seeing Noran, her expression one of open disapproval.
To her, he was a competitor.
Noran, however, paid no attention to them and walked straight over to Shuri.
"How are you feeling today, Rin?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
"I'm good. The doctor said I'm fully recovered now and can be discharged tomorrow," Shuri replied, reaching out to hold Noran's hand out of habit.
Jin, not liking to see the person he loved showing affection to another man, quickly excused himself. "Since your fiancé is here, we will be leaving now, Shuri."
"Why should we leave? I'm not done talking to Shuri," Aera objected, openly showing her displeasure.
Karlene finally put down her phone and looked up, a smirk playing at the corner of her lips at what was about to unfold.
Her sister was so popular and wonderful that everyone seemed to fight for her. She secretly hoped Aera would give Noran a hard time because Karlene had been holding back her anger at Noran for putting her sister's life in danger.
"Mom, we have talked more than enough with Shuri today," Jin said, trying to maintain peace. "It's getting late. We should go now."
Aera's eyes flashed with irritation. "I'm not done talking to Shuri, and I have something to say to this man."
She marched over to Noran and pointed her finger at him accusingly. "First, you barred us from visiting Shuri, and now you're preventing her from seeking enlightenment from Master Hoon. Are you afraid that she'll realize just how unworthy you are of her?"
Aera's frustration was palpable. Shuri had initially shown interest in consulting Ewan, but then suddenly backed out, claiming she didn't want to trouble Aera further.
In truth, after their first meeting, Shuri had grown suspicious of Aera's intentions and discussed with Noran the possibility of finding another mystic. She had expected Aera to pester her, but not for the entire afternoon and until Noran arrived.
Noran's demeanor turned icy, and the room seemed to drop several degrees. His gaze, which was usually warm when directed at Shuri, now bore into Aera with an intimidating coldness.
Even Aera found it difficult to maintain her fierce stance under his intense stare.
"Unworthy? Then, who do you think is worthy of Rin? Your son?" Noran's eyes flicked to Jin, who stood nervously nearby.
Aera didn't back down. "Of course, my son is more worthy than you. You might come from a prestigious family and have some talent, but Master Hoon said there's no future between you and Shuri. If you care about Shuri, you'll let her go. You're not the one for her."
Her words hung heavily in the air, cutting through the tension like a knife. Before anyone could respond, Noran let out a cold laugh. "If I'm not the one for Rin, then all I need to do is crush the one who is."
He glanced sharply at Jin, his eyes promising retribution.
Jin's face paled, and the room fell into a heavy silence.
