His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 96: Aera and Jin Visited Shuri
Chapter 96 - Aera and Jin Visited Shuri
Aera hurried over with Jin to visit Shuri as soon as she heard from Hana that Shuri had woken up.
Previously, Aera had been denied access by Shuri's fiancé and had been harboring a grudge against Noran for not allowing her and Jin to see Shuri while she was unconscious.
Aera had initially wanted to propose seeking help from Master Hoon for Shuri's condition, but with Hana and her husband out of the country, all matters regarding Shuri had been left to Noran, who had made it clear he didn't welcome their presence.
Now that Shuri was awake and appeared to welcome their visit, Aera couldn't wait to see her.
When Aera and Jin entered the VIP ward, they were both surprised to see Shuri looking relatively well despite being in a coma for almost a month.
"Mrs. Aera, Jin, thank you for coming," Shuri greeted them warmly.
Before Jin could respond, Aera rushed over and took Shuri's hand. "Oh dear, you don't know how worried I was when I heard about your condition. How are you feeling right now?"
Shuri smiled and politely patted Aera's hand. "I'm fine now, but my fiancé insisted I stay in the hospital for a few more days to ensure my health is perfectly fine before being discharged."
Hearing Shuri mention her fiancé made Aera frown.
"Your fiancé is heartless, denying us access to visit you when you were in a coma. You shouldn't marry a man like that. Yes, he may have some talent, but because of him, you suffered and almost died."
"Mom, it's not nice to badmouth Mr. Kingston to Shuri," Jin interjected, placing the fruit basket on the nearby table before handing Shuri a bouquet of flowers.
Shuri accepted the flowers with a grateful smile before thanking Jin.
"I didn't say anything wrong, did I? You were severely injured because you went looking for him," Aera continued.
"A partner like him is no good. He can't even protect you properly and brings you bad luck. You were doing well without him, and suddenly you face such misfortune after getting engaged to him. You really should reconsider."
Both Aera and Jin had heard about Noran's disappearance, followed by Shuri being found unconscious after searching for him.
Though the details were vague, they could deduce that Shuri's injuries were related to Noran.
Shuri forced a smile at Aera's remark. It was a good thing she had persuaded Noran to return to work during the afternoon when Aera and Jin would be visiting. Noran would probably not take kindly to hearing Aera criticize him like that.
"I know you're looking out for me, Mrs. Aera. It isn't Ran's fault. Besides, I'm really fine now," Shuri said, trying to steer the conversation away from Noran.
Aera sighed, clearly unconvinced. "You're always so kind, dear. You really deserve someone better, like our Jin."
"Mom, what nonsense are you saying now?" Jin quickly cut in, trying to deflect the attention from himself.
"What nonsense? I am just stating the truth," Aera said dismissively before turning back to Shuri.
"Our Jin has been so worried about you that he hasn't eaten well the whole time you were unconscious. He kept asking Hana about you, but your fiancé is so cruel. He wouldn't even allow him a brief visit. Just look at our poor Jin, he has lost weight."
Shuri looked at Jin and noticed that he did appear thinner, his complexion not as radiant as usual. She felt a pang of guilt. "I'm sorry to have worried you, Jin."
Jin waved his hand dismissively. "There's nothing to feel sorry for. Everything is good as long as you're fine now."
Shuri smiled gently. "And please forgive Ran as well. He didn't mean to be rude. He was just worried about my condition back then."
"Yes, I understand," Jin replied, not wanting to make things difficult for Shuri.
Aera, however, wasn't ready to let go of her grievances. "He just can't deny our rights to visit just because he's worried. He's being so inconsiderate. If he had allowed us to visit, you probably would have woken up much faster with Master Hoon's help."
Hearing Aera mention Master Hoon, Shuri quickly took the opportunity to ask, "Mrs. Aera, you keep mentioning this Master Hoon. I heard he's a well-known mystic. Are you very familiar with him?"
The mention of Master Hoon brought a sparkle to Aera's eyes as if Shuri had just touched on a topic of great interest.
"Of course, I'm familiar with him. He has helped our family immensely. Thanks to his advice and foresight, our business has grown tremendously. Whenever we faced difficulties or important decisions, Master Hoon's guidance was invaluable. He has a unique gift for seeing into the future and predicting the best course of action."
Aera continued, her tone filled with admiration. "I have followed Master Hoon's advice in many aspects of our lives, including arranging marriages for my sons. He recommended the most suitable women for them, ensuring harmony and prosperity for our family. When he said you were the most compatible with Jin, I knew he wasn't wrong. That's why I believe you shouldn't marry your current fiancé and instead, consider marrying Jin."
"Mom, please..." Jin sighed, exasperated by Aera's persistent attempts to convince Shuri to marry him.
While Jin used to feel uncomfortable whenever Aera mentioned such things, he didn't mind as much because he genuinely liked Shuri and wanted to be with her.
But now that Shuri was engaged to Noran, a man she clearly loved, he felt it was wrong to come between the couple.
He glanced at Shuri and was relieved that she didn't seem affected by Aera's words, probably because she was used to hearing them over the years.
Instead, Shuri asked casually, "So, Master Hoon can also foresee a couple's future. Do you think he could predict mine with my fiancé?"
Aera's eyes lit up at Shuri's question. "Of course, he can! But it's very difficult to get an appointment with him. Even for a regular like me, the wait can be a month despite being given priority. But for you, my dear, I'll help you get an appointment as soon as possible."
Aera was delighted by Shuri's interest in meeting Master Hoon. When Jin failed to make Shuri fall in love with him after many years of courtship, Aera approached Master Hoon for help in making Shuri her daughter-in-law.
Master Hoon had told her that the fastest way, despite being unethical, would require Shuri's blood or hair.
By mixing Shuri's blood or hair with Jin's, he could perform a ritual to bond them as a pair. It was the same method Master Hoon had used to make Aera's husband, Myles Park, feel an immediate connection with her, making him think Aera was the one he should marry.
Back then, Master Hoon had just started as a no-name mystic. After successfully helping Aera get the man she wanted, Aera was convinced of his power and referred him to many of her influential friends and connections.
In a way, Aera had also helped Master Hoon build his current reputation.
Now, Aera hoped that Master Hoon would do the same for her son, Jin.
It didn't matter if Shuri was already in love with another man; as long as she met with Master Hoon, Aera was convinced he could change her heart and make Shuri love Jin instead.
"Shuri, you won't regret meeting Master Hoon," Aera assured, her tone brimming with enthusiasm. "He will definitely lead you to the right path."
Shuri smiled politely, though she was wary of Aera's eagerness. "Thank you, Mrs. Aera. Please inform me when you're able to get an appointment. I'll let my fiancé know about it."
Aera frowned slightly. "Your fiancé is coming along?"
Shuri raised her eyebrows, looking surprised. "Shouldn't he? We are seeking advice for our future, after all."
Aera felt a twinge of displeasure but couldn't think of a reason to exclude Noran. She forced a smile. "Of course, he should. I'll let you know when I get the date from him."
"Thank you, Mrs. Aera," Shuri said with her usual smile.
After exchanging a few more words, Aera excused herself and left the room, leaving Jin to talk with Shuri.
Once outside the ward, Aera found a secluded corner, ensuring no one was listening, before she dialed a number. The phone rang several times before a deep voice resonated from the other end.
There was a brief silence on the other end. "No worries, they can come together. I will give them a bad reading and convince them to break up. It will be easier that way."
"What if they refuse to listen to your advice? Her fiancé isn't a simple man. I thought he was just a renowned pianist, but it appears he can make even the vice-director of Paragon move for him."
Aera had inside information that one of the co-founders of Paragon had used his authority to demand a manhunt for Noran, and Shuri was treated as a top VIP in the hospital because of their connection with the head of Paragon.
"It doesn't matter who he is. Even the president of the country will fall into my hands as long as I can place a curse on him," Master Hoon said confidently. "Don't worry, Madam Aera. Have I ever disappointed you?"
Aera was relieved to hear that Master Hoon could handle Noran. "You have never disappointed me, Master Hoon. I have full trust in you. When this is over, I'll make sure to pay you a handsome fee for your hard work."
"Very well, Madam Aera. I look forward to our coming cooperation," Master Hoon replied, his voice oozing with confidence.
