His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 95: The Cost of Exchange
Chapter 95 - The Cost of Exchange
"Don't," Noran looked away, his expression filled with unease.
He didn't want Shuri to know he had exchanged his blessing to save her life, nor did he want her to discover the darker parts of his past.
Losing her in their previous life had turned him into a murderer, and he couldn't bear for her to know that.
Shuri furrowed her brows but didn't press further, adhering to her principle of not looking into the innocence and people she loved without their permission.
However, she felt displeased that Noran was hiding something from her, so she pushed him away.
"If you insist on keeping secrets from me, then I will never kiss you again."
Noran, startled and anxious at her words, quickly grasped her hand. "Rin, please don't do this to me."
But she refused to let him hold her.
"I don't like you keeping secrets from me."
Although she had kept plenty of secrets herself, she couldn't stand the thought of him doing the same.
It was unfair, but at that moment, fairness didn't matter.
Noran stared at her helplessly.
Shuri, seeing his reluctance to talk, pouted. "If you're not going to talk, then I won't talk to you either. Hmph."
She lay back down on the bed, turning her back to him and covering herself with a blanket. She was determined to maintain a cold war until he gave in and told her what she wanted to know.
There was a tense silence before Shuri felt strong arms wrap around her from behind. Noran, lying next to her, pulled her into his embrace, his breath warm against her ear. "Please don't ignore me, Rin."
Shuri remained silent, not giving in to his plea.
Seeing her silence, Noran rested his head against her shoulder in defeat and sighed. "I'll tell you, so look at me."
At his words, Shuri immediately turned around, a delighted look on her face.
But as soon as she faced him, she felt his lips against hers.
"Hmm, R-Ran..!" Her voice was muffled by the kiss.
She began to beat his shoulders lightly, asking him to stop.
He pulled back slightly, his light blue eyes reflecting a darkness he was holding back.
"You allowed that bastard to kiss you back then, but you won't let me?" he said coldly, his finger brushing her lips gently.
Shuri's heart skipped a beat, realizing he hadn't let go of what had happened.
"Don't misunderstand, I needed to convince him I was brainwashed," she tried to stay calm as she continued. "And that's not important right now..."
"Why isn't it important?" Noran quickly cut her off, his embrace tightening around her. "Did you enjoy getting kissed by another man?"
"Of course not! Why are you..." Shuri stopped mid-sentence, staring into Noran's eyes, now filled with jealousy and pain.
Despite being the victim of the harassment, it appeared he was more hurt than she was about the incident.
With her safety now guaranteed, the image of Sigmund kissing Shuri kept replaying in his mind, fueling his rage. He wanted nothing more than to break every bone in Sigmund's body for violating her dignity.
But since he couldn't get his hands on Sigmund, he didn't know where else to vent this deep pain and resentment.
Sensing he was suffering internally, Shuri knew no words could comfort him. So, she cupped his face in her hands and pressed her lips onto his.
She felt his body relax slightly from the kiss, and he kissed her back, the kiss quickly turning lingering and lewd. His tongue explored her mouth with desperation, and he held her closer as if he wanted to merge her into his body.
Wanting to assure him, she pushed her tongue into his mouth, invading it just as he had done to her. She explored the roof of his mouth and his gums thoroughly.
After a long, passionate kiss, Shuri's lips finally left his.
She looked at him, realizing that his once pained expression was now replaced by a hint of lust. However, she wouldn't let anything else distract her from finding out the truth.
"Will you talk to me now? Can you tell me what happened?" she asked softly, her hands still cupping his face. "Please, Ran..."
Noran's breathing was ragged, his eyes still dark with a mix of emotions. "I... just did what you did back then."
"What I did?"
"Your request to save me... I made that same request," he answered vaguely.
Shuri fell silent at his words, her mind racing to comprehend his meaning. Then, her eyes widened in realization. "Did you meet her?" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Noran didn't answer, averting his gaze, his silence an unspoken admission.
"You traded your blessing for me, didn't you?" Shuri guessed quickly.
She remembered the collar Sigmund had put on her, sensing the dark magic within it. No ordinary doctor could cure such a poison, yet she had been miraculously healed with no side effects.
It led her to suspect that Noran had used unconventional means to save her. But she hadn't expected he'd encounter Madam Faye.
Knowing Madam Faye's interest in collecting supernatural powers, Shuri could easily deduce that she had requested Noran's blessing in exchange for her life.
"Didn't you do the same, Rin?" Noran said slowly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Didn't you trade your ability to save me back then?"
Shuri was startled. "How... how did you..."
She wondered if Madam Faye had told him, but she remembered that Madam Faye would never disclose their contract details to anyone.
In fact, Madam Faye hadn't told Noran the specifics. However, Noran had figured it out on his own, understanding that Shuri would have done anything to save him, just as he did for her.
"Do you think I wouldn't know, Rin?" he said softly, taking her hand that had frozen on the side of his face into his own.
Shuri pressed her lips into a thin line, ignoring his question.
"That doesn't mean you can trade your blessing for me. Do you know misfortune will befall you because you gave your blessing away? Back then, my parents died because my mom traded her blessing to save Lene," Shuri said, her voice trembling with the onset of tears.
"I worked so hard in this life to prevent their misfortune, and now you..."
Tears began to fall from her eyes, and Noran wiped them away with his thumb. "It's alright for you to sacrifice your life for me, but I can't sacrifice my blessing for yours? That's not fair, Rin."
"I don't care!" Shuri exclaimed, her body shaking with a turmoil of emotions. "You can't risk your life for me!"
Noran was speechless. The thought that she could risk her life for him while he couldn't do the same for her seemed unreasonable. But he didn't want to argue with Shuri, so he gently stroked the back of her head to calm her down.
"Didn't you prevent your parents' misfortune?" he asked softly. "I'm sure I can overcome mine, too."
Shuri shook her head. "I could prevent their misfortune because I knew about it beforehand. But I can't foresee what will happen to you..."
She stopped mid-sentence, her eyes widening with realization.
Maybe she could use her power to prevent any misfortune from happening to Noran. If she could evolve her power...
No, that wouldn't be practical because overusing her divine ability until it evolved could only mean she would die young, like what happened in her past life.
She had to be careful not to overuse her ability this time, so she could live a longer life with Noran.
Then, what if she borrowed someone else's power...?
"Rin?" Noran called out softly, noticing her sudden silence and thoughtful expression. "I'll be fine, Rin. Don't worry."
But the concern on Shuri's face didn't vanish. She looked up at him, determination in her eyes. "What if we borrow someone's ability? If we can find someone who has the power to see the future, we can prevent your misfortune."
Noran considered her words, the possibility intriguing him. "A person with the power of foresight? Is there really someone with such an ability?"
However, given Shuri's vision of judgment and Sigmund's voice of command, it was plausible that someone might possess the vision of foresight. But where could they find such a person?
Shuri's face lit up with a glimmer of hope. "I heard from Mom that Mrs. Aera knows a mystic called Master Hoon. Mrs. Aera claimed he had the power of foresight. Maybe I should seek him out through Mrs. Aera?"
Noran frowned, clearly unhappy with the idea of Shuri having any form of connection with Aera, a woman who once desired Shuri as her daughter-in-law.
Previously, he had rejected both Aera and Jin from visiting Shuri. Besides wanting no outsiders to disturb her, he wasn't comfortable with the idea of Shuri maintaining contact with anyone with ulterior motives.
"I can have my men get an appointment with Master Hoon directly," Noran suggested, his tone firm. "I don't like the idea of you having any contact with her."
Shuri tightened her grip on his hands, trying to convince him. "I understand, Ran. But this might be the quickest way to get to Master Hoon. I heard he won't just meet anyone. Let me handle this. You have so much on your plate already. You need to find that bastard Sigmund and deal with your business, which you've been neglecting."
"Paragon is doing fine without me," Noran insisted.
"But Mr. Roy said you haven't been to work the whole time I was unconscious. A lot of important decisions and projects are delayed because of your absence."
Noran's frown deepened even further, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face. He realized he had to add Roy to the list of people who should stay away from Shuri.
