Help! The Frosty Noble's Son Is in Love With Me!-Chapter 449 - 3: The Boss and the Secretary
Entering the office, she walked to the door of the small break room and knocked again.
"President Pei, Pei..."
The door opened from the inside.
A tall man was drying his hair with a towel in one hand and opening the door with the other. His upper body was bare, with a towel wrapped around his waist. Water dripped from his hair, sliding down his muscular chest and disappearing as it reached his abs...
Qu Fulan felt a rush of heat, her mind almost bursting, and her cheeks uncontrollably flushed. She quickly averted her gaze, cleared her throat, and stated her purpose, "President Pei, there’s an important document that needs your signature."
The man’s indifferent expression did not change upon hearing her words. He merely gave her a cold, detached glance before closing the door expressionlessly.
Qu Fulan, having been "banged" by the door, wasn’t embarrassed; she actually felt relieved. This was the boss being agreeable. Otherwise, he might just directly tell someone to get lost, which happened often, although she hadn’t experienced it herself but had seen it plenty of times. It surely couldn’t have felt good. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Qu Fulan recalled when she first interviewed for this job. After all, she was applying to be the boss’s secretary and, after multiple rounds of selections, only three remained. The boss had to interview them personally. When he saw her, he was expressionless and said nothing, with a cold demeanor. She thought she had no chance, but finally, she was notified to join.
So sometimes, the boss’s silence could be a good thing.
She estimated that it wouldn’t be long before the boss would come out fully dressed to work.
During this process, Qu Fulan did two things: she poured a glass of water and placed it on the table, then made a cup of coffee at a moderate temperature and placed it nearby.
After his nap, the boss habitually drank one glass of water before having coffee.
Sure enough, before long, the stern-looking boss came out dressed neatly, walked to the desk without a word, picked up the glass and took a sip, then sat and picked up the coffee.
Throughout, he didn’t look at Qu Fulan once.
Standing aside, Qu Fulan felt a bit anxious. The boss’s cold aura was so intense that it made people tense wherever he went, as if many icy spikes floated around him, ready to shoot out at his command, piercing one with holes...
After momentarily spacing out, the boss had already finished reviewing the document and signed his name. He suddenly stood up, and because of his height, his imposing presence overwhelmed her. She thought he was about to do something, instinctively stepping back, but he just took his coat without sparing her a glance and left.
Qu Fulan: "..."
Even though she was used to the boss’s taciturn demeanor, she couldn’t help but mentally gripe about it every time.
Cold, really too cold.
As if speaking one more sentence would cost him his life.
Whenever he went anywhere, unless necessary, he wouldn’t say an extra word to her. No instructions meant no orders, and she would carry on as she saw fit.
Having completed her mission to hand off the document, she too left the company.
Even though it was her day off, she was free. But in fact, with her job, even on her days off, there were always things to prepare.
High salary meant high-intensity work. Not only did she have to ensure no mistakes in her work, but she also had to remember the boss’s personal preferences and avoid his taboos.
For instance, the boss hated procrastination in his work. If he said he needed a document by a certain time, he would notice even if it was just a minute late.
Qu Fulan recalled when she first joined the Pei Family as a secretary, actually there were two successful candidates. But the other secretary was dismissed impolitely by the boss for delivering documents late once. He said he didn’t need people who weren’t punctual.
From then on, Qu Fulan knew she couldn’t afford a single mistake, or she’d have to pack her bags and leave.
Earning money wasn’t easy, as you can see.
After her day off spent on a blind date, Qu Fulan returned to her busy work life.
As soon as she started working, she had to travel with the boss on a business trip.
The boss stayed in the presidential suite while she stayed in the room opposite. If anything happened, she just had to open the door and take a few steps.
It wasn’t that she had to knock on the boss’s door, but the boss knocked on hers late at night.
After traveling half the day, Qu Fulan felt like she had barely slept when she heard the doorbell. Groggily opening her eyes, she saw it was just 5 a.m...
Who the hell is it?
Going to check the peephole, she saw it was the boss.
Since it was the boss, there must be something urgent, so Qu Fulan instinctively opened the door.
The tall man standing outside, upon seeing her, had an unusual flicker across his expressionless face before it returned to normal. He said plainly, "I need the project files. Bring them to me later."
After saying this, he turned and walked a few steps back into the suite, shutting the door with a bang.
Qu Fulan, still somewhat confused, couldn’t understand why he would make her wait to hand him the documents. If it was so urgent, why couldn’t he wait for the time it took to get the files?
After she closed the door and walked back to get the files, something suddenly occurred to her. She looked down at what she was wearing...
Last night, she was too tired, so she had gone to bed in a slip dress, the silky kind that felt cool, though the dress was short, revealing her long white legs and a bit of her ample bosom...
Some people in this world have a pretty face but no figure, while others have a great figure but no good looks. She happened to have both, so whatever she wore accentuated her figure, not to mention this slightly sexy slip dress.
For heaven’s sake!
She actually came out to see the boss like this?!
No wonder the boss’s thousand-year-old glacier face had cracked; she thought she had seen wrong.
He wouldn’t have some prejudice against her, thinking she did this on purpose, would he?
If he had a bias, she’d definitely retort back!
Even though she was an employee, she had principles and wouldn’t accept baseless accusations.
If she had dressed like this to knock on his door, it would clearly be seduction. But wasn’t it he who knocked on her door in the middle of the night? What woman would wrap herself up tightly in the middle of a summer night?
So it was his problem; he didn’t see her as a woman but as a subordinate, hence knocking at such an hour.
Yes, that’s it. Going forward, after this incident, he might remember she is a woman and be more mindful of his actions.
Truthfully, if he wanted to see a contract, couldn’t he just call? Why knock?
Quickly though, Qu Fulan realized why the boss didn’t call; her phone was dead...
Again, she was just too exhausted last night, fell into bed, and forgot to charge her phone.
She usually made it a habit to check her phone’s battery before sleeping, but this time she forgot.
Damn it, what a coincidence!
Qu Fulan first washed up to fully wake up, then changed into a professional outfit, this time properly covered up. Sitting at the desk, she double-checked the documents prepared beforehand, ensuring there were no issues, then got up and knocked on the boss’s door.
Qu Fulan still felt a bit apprehensive inside, thinking about how careless she had been earlier. She wondered how he would view her now.
As these thoughts ran through her mind, the door opened.
