Has Big Shot Fallen in Love Today?-Chapter 875: Ambition
The screenplay is in Ding Ruifan’s study.
The study is large, around fifty square meters, with a wooden cabinet on the west wall, locked.
Mrs. Ding went to get the key.
Upon opening the cabinet, there were three whole rows of documents inside.
Mrs. Ding asked Sheng Tang to come over and take a look.
"This row is the first tier of choices that Sister Ying categorizes every time she receives a screenplay. The first tier is the highest level.
Then there are the second and third tiers. Many projects require half a year or even a year of preparation, so we choose quite broadly,"
Mrs. Ding explained.
Sheng Tang said, "Then I’ll start picking from the first tier. Don’t worry, Sis, I won’t spread the word."
"These are just proposals, screenplay outlines. Even if you talk, it doesn’t matter; they’re not really commercial secrets," Mrs. Ding said with a smile.
Sheng Tang replied, "Then why don’t you all go out and grab something to eat? I’ll take my time looking through them alone."
"We’re troubling you too much," Ding Ruifan and Mrs. Ding felt a bit apologetic.
However, Sheng Tang was very frank: "It’s no trouble at all. If I’m helping, I should see it through to the end."
Ding Ruifan, his wife, and Sister Ying all left the study.
They sat in the living room chatting.
Regarding the new movie, Ding Ruifan hadn’t made up his mind yet, and Sister Ying wasn’t in a rush either, as she managed more than just him.
The celebrity Ying managed recently got involved in a scandal by being caught as a mistress. It wasn’t suppressed in time, and now rumors were everywhere, causing her much headache.
She started discussing this gossip with Mrs. Ding.
Mrs. Ding gave her a suggestion: "Why not arrange a fake marriage to change the public’s perception of her? Choose the right partner, so her future husband can shield her."
"I wouldn’t dare; if she creates a scandal after the marriage, I won’t be able to clean it up,"
"Post-marriage matters are easier to handle. You can have her surrogate a child and present her as a virtuous wife and loving mother, and her past actions will likely be forgiven by the audience.
She is already thirty-one, and it’s no big deal to get married and have kids. This is her second time being a mistress; if she continues, her reputation will be completely ruined.
You could find her someone outside the industry, not very wealthy, and package their marriage with true love, adding in some charity work.
For instance, volunteering to teach in remote areas and taking photos every few months. Marrying an ordinary person can change the public’s image of her chasing wealthy men; along with charity work, it can definitely cleanse her image," Mrs. Ding suggested.
Sister Ying found the idea promising.
Ding Ruifan laughed from the side.
Mrs. Ding asked, "What’s so funny?"
"In our industry, people will do anything for benefits; sometimes, I think it’s quite amusing. I’m really fortunate to have a normal family," Ding Ruifan said.
Feeling that he wasn’t fond of the topic, Mrs. Ding gave Sister Ying a look, signaling to change the subject.
They diverted the conversation to some popular gossip.
Sheng Tang stayed in the study for two hours, going through more than two hundred screenplay outlines.
Although a bit tired, thankfully it wasn’t a futile effort.
In the vast collection of scripts, Sheng Tang came across a project that overlapped with her past life’s timeline.
Even the movie’s name hadn’t changed: "Little Building."
This film, with its heavy tone, tells the story of Chongqing during the war, capturing day-to-day life against the backdrop of a larger historical context.
Sheng Tang remembered that this movie had a poor box office performance domestically, yet it won two major awards—Best Cinematography and Best Actor—at one of Europe’s three major film festivals in Venice.
Before this film, the best award a domestic film had received at Venice was the Silver Lion.
No film had ever won the Golden Lion before; it set a new precedent.
